I was just a little bit curious - a laptop being a good example.

When you buy a laptop, it says in the instruction manual "Keep all vents clear to prevent the computer from overheating" - right I get that bit, it is common-sense thumbsup.gif

However, the bit that baffles me is this, how can you keep the vents clear that are UNDERNEATH the laptop. After all it is on the table and the table is blocking the vents - or am I missing the point somewhere along the line? blink.gif Maybe those aren't vents or something? unsure.gif

The laptop should have little rubber or plastic "feet" to lift it slightly off the surface of the table, in order to allow the vents to work. This is why using laptops on your lap or a soft surface can inadvertantly block the vents and cause problems.

Ahh thanks Angry!!!

I do have mine on my lap but it is sitting on a large hardback atlas and yes I see what you mean about the rubber feet now, yes there is a small gap.

Thanks thumbsup.gif
