Hi guys,

At the moment, i'm staying at my grandmother's house, which is a large villa out in the middle of the countryside. It was built around the 1940's (I think), and has obviously been previously owned. Anyway, I've noticed a few strange things, that I'm sure are perfectly explainable, but I'd like your opinions.

Ever since I've been sleeping in the house, I've noticed that I've been able to remember my dreams a lot more vividly than I do when i'm in my own home. Normally, when I wake up, I can't remember a single thing about my dreams, but now it seems that when I wake up, I can see things extremely vividly. One such dream, that has been recurring, with slight variations, is where I wake up, in the room I am in and I see someone peering through one of the windows, with a large grin on their face. I'm almost certain that this person is a man.

When i've been trying to get to sleep, I've heard a lot of footsteps pacing the main hall, just outside the room. I know it's not my parents, because I would have heard them descend the stairs before coming into the hall. There are three dogs in the house, but when I go out to check, they're all asleep, and these footsteps are most certainly human.

One of the dogs in particular seems to spend all night barking at something in the garden. Having said that, this could easily be a wild animal; we have a lot of owls, rabbits and hedgehogs in the garden, so I've ruled that out as a paranormal possibility.

It may be my imagination, but I keep seeing black forms out of the corner of my peripheral vision. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, a sharp movement will catch my eye, but nothing will be there. I have experienced this in my own home too.

So what do you think? I'm not convinced it's anything paranormal, but I'm trying to keep my options open. If anyone can provide any explanations for me, I'd be grateful.

Thanks
Barek Halfhand

Shadow entities have been a hot topic here since we started....thinking about it AND the paranormal TOO much perhaps?....trust me it can make your imagination spin wacko.gif ....BUT I will be the last person to tell you that you don't have ANYTHING paranormal happening in your new crib (gaff?)......(you just KNOW that some neighbor is going to tell him about the previous owner dying in HIS (new) bedroom grin2.gif ) ...

Yeah, i'm waking up in the dream. Sort of like a mise en abime where the dream is inside the dream.

Like I said, it could indeed be my imagination with these black forms lol. I tend to watch a lot of late night horror films, so yeah, horror is on my mind a lot tongue.gif.

Personally, i'm unsure. i'm split 50-50. On the one hand, I haven't seen any full frontal apparitions or anything that gives me no doubt in my mind that there is something going on. On the other hand, I haven't found anything that disproves that something is going on.

Oh, and Barek, I see you're learning british slang (gaff) laugh.gif

Thanks for sharing..Is it possible when at that house, you dont sleep as well as at home so suffer from Sleep Paralysis along with lucid dreaming? Do you see the black images out of both eyes or just one? Are they images, or black orbs? JN

Thanks for the reply, JN.

I have been experimenting with different methods that induce Lucid Dreaming. Erm, I found on one of the other threads on UM a tip for lucid dreaming, which i've been trying. You may be right, and perhaps it's finally starting to kick in.

As for the black images, I do see them out of both eyes, however I can't focus on them long enough to see what form it is. It catches me off guard, all of a sudden i'll see a movement out of the corner of my eye, that looks black.

Ahh looks like your lucid dreaming is working kiddo LOL..Do you see the black things at night or daytime, or just when laying down ready to sleep?

The ability to "wake up" in your dream is some sort of benchmark I think I read .....B

Right its all part of lucid dreaming, I love that, cause we can wake ourselves up or change the dream. I was more concerned about the things she was seeing out of her/his peripheral vision?! unsure.gif

I see them at random times during the day and night.

Hi there. I’m new to the forum. wavey.gif
I’ve been reading a few posts in this section that mention people seeing dark shapes and movement out of the corner of their eyes. I was just wondering if these shapes etc could be ‘eye floaters’. I suffer mildly from this condition myself and it is very common. I’m not trying to discount that these experiences could be paranormal, I just wanted to forward the idea.

Eye Floaters

Hey Lupu. I also suffer from eye floaters, but the strange things I have seen were not eye floaters. I'm not saying this could not be it, because so many people are not aware of eye floaters and what they look like. But, that is a great suggestion and a great way to discount all other explanations to the mystery. Once you can discount the plausible explanations, then you can start on the not so plausible explanations.

And welcome to the boards, Lupus, nice to meet you!

Thanks for sharing that link, Lupus. It's certainly a plausible explanation original.gif

That was a very informative link. I have been to two specialists for verification of what I am seeing or not seeing. There is no retinal detachment, and I see a huge difference between the regular floaters and the not regular ones. I only get them in 3 rooms and not in 2 others, so go figure. I dunno Rhyknow, have you ever taken any photos at home or at Grandmothers? JN--

Cool, you never know what you might capture. Also just a suggestion, you could buy a disposable camera, and when all the pics have been taken have them images put on CD..Then that leaves you the negs..Keep us posted and I see those as well, all day and most of the night.. w00t.gif
