Back several years ago I became a "Big Sister" to April at the time she was 12... I was on a waiting list for over a year, and was she ever worth the wait, we created a bond that lasted 3 years....at that time you were only required to spend 1 day a month...but I would spend at least 2 days a week...I did so many fun things with her over the years.

My most "memorable moment" was when I took her to a beautiful park near my house...we were walking and enjoying all of the sights and sounds of "nature" she ask me is their deer here..I told her yes
so we were on the trail to track deer so she could see one...but what happened what unthought of...we saw their hoof prints in the dirt...we followed them ....

We were walking up this hill and to my surprise there must have been at least 6 females and some babies, they raised their heads as we approched, but did not run away...I told April let's be very quiet, in which we proceeed to lightly walk to a white fence in which we both leaned against to gaze at these beautiful animals that surrounded us, we watched them for well over a 1/2 hour. When we got back down to trail we both jumped up and down hugging each other in amazement.... I felt like I was a kid I got so excited..

When we went to monthy check in meeting, our counselor asked is there anything you would like to share about your the time you've spent together so far..In which April exclaimed "Oh my God" we went to a park and were able to watch deer and their babies eating , I'll never forget it...in which we both looked at each other and smiled.

That is a beautiful momment Wolfwoman! And i have no doubt that April will reflect on that time you shared and your experience with great warmth and it will be a story she will tell over and over again, perhaps even to her own children! And those are the most special times, the simple ones that bring unexpected joy! I have many memmories like that, which i shared with my own daughter and i don,t think i could pick just one because i lost her when she was 14 in a car accident, and all my memmories are"frozen in time" so to speak, and each one of those momments are so precious to me! This is a great topic though and i think you,ll get many responses and stories! yes.gif thumbsup.gif

The human mind is strange isn't it ? I can't remember what I did two days ago. Yet I can remember vividly something that happened 20 years ago. And it's not even something that's all that momental either. Nothing that anyone would consider something worth remembering.

i want to go back 3.5 year ago and freeze moment.

I have so many precious moments with my children and grandchildren, that I wouldn't be able to reflect on just one. Every day they bring me joy so I would have to say that any frozen moments are all the memories that I treasure..

If I could freeze one moment in time......it'll be a moment from my childhood, one Christmas when all my loved ones where still here.

Wolfwoman...what a touching memory. So glad you shared that.

I would have to say for me, my most memorable moment was an epiphany I had when I became acutely aware of my internal dialog/thoughts. I know, not the usual sweet memory...but, this moment changed my life, so yeah...it's a memorable moment. blush.gif I would have so say the second (can I have seonds? grin2.gif ), was when I met my daughter for the first time in person, right after giving birth. original.gif

btw....great thread Wolfwoman. thumbup.gif

If I could freeze a memorable moment? Well, I have two:

1. When I hiked to see the beautiful waterfall named "Bridal Veil" up here in ORegon.

2. During my first trip to Oregon when my now ex-boyfriend took me into the canyon behind his house.

Those are two of my most beautiful memories.

You shared a bottle with BOBBY D????!!!!!Now thats one great story to tell the grandkids one day!!! The closest brush with fame i ever came to is when my friend who works for a law firm had to drive Wayne Gretzky around Vancouver on buisness stuff. And that had nothing to do with me,but thats the closest i,ll probably get to anyone famous! Lucky You!!! yes.gif thumbsup.gif

Mine actually happened a couple of weeks ago. This bird was stuck on my balcony so i grabbed it very gently. Then I held it and looked at it for a while and I could feel how scared it was. I had this wierd feeling inside me i don't know how to describe it, but when I set it free the feeling intensified so much that I almost cried. I don't know why i got so emotional crying.gif

((((SWTP)))) That made me tear up. I am so sorry for your loss.

For me, the moment I would freeze is the moment they put my baby on my chest after giving birth. I thought "for you, I could so go through that pain again". She looked up at me and we finally got to see each other, that is a memory I will never forget.

Oh ya! Thats also one of the most beautifull memmories i,d freeze in time! I was asked by someone about a year ago, If you would have known that you would go through the pain of losing your daughter before she was born, would you still have her? I didn,t even have to think about it, the answer was absolutely! The joy she brought me for almost 15 years not to mention the experience of carrying and giving birth to that beautiful soul and amazing child far out weighed the grief of losing her!

I can't even imagine the pain of losing a child. It breaks my heart to even think about it. You are such a strong person. But, by trying to put myself in your shoes, I would agree. Children are too precious whether you have them for one day or one lifetime.

How lovely- you took me with you there! I hope that in the moments before our deaths, we can relive all the lovely memories. I love the sight of deer in the early morning mist, when you can see the breath coming from their nostrils. Hope you are well.

i would freeze the morning of 9/11, before the first plane crashed, so i could use every ounce of courage and strength to save or at least warn those poor innocent victims trapped inside the towers. they didn't deserve any part of that day. sad.gif
