Would someone kindly explain in Laymen's terms world weather patterns as they stand now. Basically as simply as I have below. Thanks...

The Azores high is currently extending eastward rather than north, so S and SE Europe are getting the hot weather. This high has blocked systems feeding in from ??? which provide cooler weather. Meanwhile the jetstream that hits Iceland is further South giving Britain wet, cold weather. Does this mean there is a different weather system in Iceland this time round?

Do these systems directly affect other systems to cause the flooding in Texas and NE China, whilst the rest of China bakes?
