Hey yall

Just wondering, what are you favorite guitar solos? I want some suggestions because I have been listening to a lot of rock lately and I'm loving the guitar solos so I'm wondering what your favorite solos are.

My favorite would have to be slash's solo from sweet child of mine. My second favorite would be from lynard skynard, and my third favorite from all along the watchtower by hendrix.

So what are you favorite solos?

My favorite song-length guitar solo would have to be: HIZAKI grace project - "Race Wish" (I'm pretty sure only the guitar is live.)
Hizaki is probably not as technically skilled as Eddie, but this solo is the prettiest I've ever heard. He's my favorite guitarist. (Yes, I said "He")

Couple more:

Phantom of the Opera - Iron maiden

Suicide - Motorhead

Stone dead Forever - Metallica version

The Trooper - Iron Maiden

As soon as I saw the thread title, Eruption was the first song that came to mind.

Good choice! grin2.gif
She-ra
Steve Morse

Ummmm, yea, I would have his baby! tongue.gif
Tiggs
Brian May - Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

It's not fast. It's not flashy. It's not technically brilliant. But it is my favourite guitar solo of all time.
S.Tx.Rocker
The best guitar solo iv'e heard is by the guitarist in Grand Funk Railroad, can't remember the song, but he's jamming throughout the song. Then he does his solo (it's a great one in my opinion, and it's a long solo), then the band kicks back in and they finish the song. Overall it's one kick**s song and solo.
I know someone out there knows it, I need to go and get the album on CD, it rocks.
DevaDevil
My ultimate solo:

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

Eyes closed and enjoying
Sweetpumper
Edward Van Halen's opening to 'Mean Street'. yes.gif

This isn't him, can't find a good one of EVH doing it, but this is a damn good version by whoever this is:

You beat me to it Tiggs. Although I don't know if I agree with it not being technically brilliant. Brian May's sound is so completely recognizable! I love the sound!!!

Beatles - Helter Skelter
Led Zepplin- Stair way
There is also Peter Frampton- Show me the way.
Areosmith - Kings and Queens and Back in the Saddle is better known
Just a few old school off the top of my head.
Has Alex Lifeson, Robert Fripp or Adrian Belue ever done a bad guitar solo?

Love the Guitars don't know if you'd call them a solo per say but love the sound on Rob/White Zombie- More human than human.

Regards,
Mabon.
RushMaiden
I did a compilation with my favorite solos and guitar riffs. Some of the tracks are not solos but just great riffs.

Chuck Berry- Johnny Be Good
Blue Oyster Cult- Don't fear the reaper-amazing solo
Van Halen-Eruption
Metallica- Ride the Lightning- the solo gives the lightning effect as it recreates the execution
Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera- opening riff
Led Zeppelin- Dazed and Confused
Ozzy Osbourne - Mr. Crowley (two great solos)
Exteme- Play with me ( starts off with an insane transcription of Mozart's Rondo alla turca)
Black Sabbath- Iron Man- possibly metal's most famous riff
Rush-all the solos on the 2112 album LOL.
XLizX
RazorBlade Kiss by HIM!!!!
EmpressStarXVII
Black Label Society - Sold My Soul
Herbert West
If you are into new stuff there are some pretty bad(good) solos on the album Faceless by Godsmack.
