British Columbia, Canada - A man has been found alive after being chained to a tree in the remote woods of West Vancouver, B.C., for six days in what police are calling a bizarre suicide attempt.

Police say hikers looking for their runaway dog heard the pleas of a man calling for help in a remote area.

The 48-year-old man in distress could not be reached because of the rough terrain, although he was able to tell police he had gone there six days ago to commit suicide and had chained himself to a tree.

Police launched a rescue operation with the North Shore Search and Rescue Team, as well as fire and ambulance personnel.

The man was conscious when he was reached but rescuers required the assistance of a helicopter to airlift him to safety.

Police say it's believed the man will survive the ordeal.

Should have left him there. Make the world a better place by letting natural selection take it's course.

Of all the suicide options available, why oh why would anyone choose the slow and painful method of starvation?

That's certainly an unusual way of taking your own life...I wonder what would've happened if he was covered in honey... wink2.gif

Bears wouldn't touch him! One look at him and sniffed, they realized he had some form of 'mad cow disease!'
