I'm actually an avid deal shopper (I'm no cheap though, I just don't like being cheated).
One of my favorite "deals" I see at the grocery store has to do with soda. Soda comes in packs of 6, 12, 24 or 48.
My favorite campaign is on the 12 packs... "Sale! Two 12 packs for $8.99!". 24 soda's... twice the cardboard packaging all for $8.99.
Then when you go look at the single 24 soda pack, you'll see that it's $9.00. I always buy the $9 24 pack rather than the two-fer ... There's NO price savings and MORE waste in the two-fer. Yet people fall for this hook line and sinker every time. I see people grabbing those 12 packs off the shelf like they're goin' to run out. I've even had people say to me "oh did you see the 12 packs are on sale?" I usually laugh and just say "ya, I saw that, but I'll stick with the 24 pack for the same price." They usually look confused for a spilt second until the realization hits them that there is no sale.
Always read the weight on teh containers and compare them with other sizes... dividing the weight into the price can tell you what you're really paying per oz.
Yeah- thats probably me, bulk is better and I'll soon jump on that band wagon real soon.
Marketing is POWERFUL. - Tell me about it! I worked at a maketing research firm once. They will do whatever to make you buy thier products. For instance 'Lite or light? light in color?, lighter than air? not lighter in calories. They keep you guessing, don't they.

I have noticed this more and more, especially with potato chips...The bags are pressurized so they feel full. And lately the chips are getting less and less......

exactly what I'm saying... sizes are getting smaller and smaller yet the price goes higher and higher.
Anyone have a recipe how to make our own... Tried once but it turned out chewy rather than crunchy and so I stuck with french fries.
