Well are you a trekkie or is the force strong with you?I personal like star wars better because i never could understand whatw as going on in startrek.

Oh, how could you make me choose!!! Star Wars, no Original Star Trek, no Star Wars, Next Generation was actuall pretty good......STAR WARS! (I think)

I grew up watching the original Star Trek, but it was in syndication by then. Still, I loved it. Spock is my favorite. I continued watching and went through all the different versions. Picard vs. Kirk? Very hard for me. And, Seven of Nine? How could you NOT love her?! Not a Trekkie by any means, but I do wish they'd come out with a new one. I don't like the one they are showing now on the Sci-Fi Network.

Why Star Wars wins for me is that I saw it in the theater as a kid. The special effects were amazing and this whole new world was opened wide for me. How I dreamed of going out there.....

I'm not a big fan of either, but I prefer Star Trek over Star Wars anyday

I love both, but, then I guess I am a child of the space age.

A tough one but I'd pick:

Star Wars- you felt you can call on the force. "It was within me."
Even if almost all jedi's died by the Empire's hands

Star Trek- anyone that was new was killed off in that episode. So no one wanted to be the newbie.

That's why I love Galaxy Quest, making fun of that! I actually lived in a place where a guy hwo had been on a couple episodes of the original Star Trek. And Scottie's granddaughter was in my school for a while before going to a private school.

Galaxy Quest was enjoyable suprise to me. The part I loved is the kids on earth who are like the 'Trekkies' get involved in saving the crew. It was like thier dream turned out to be true!

This was years ago, and she just mentioned it a few times, she didn't want to toot her own horn. I know it's true because a friend was over at her house and saw family photos.

Weapons: (Space only)

Star Wars-
The Death Star- This is by far the biggest an baddest weapon capable of destroying worlds in an instant.
Lasers- The most commonly used weapon in the Star Wars universe
Proton Torpedoes- A common ordinance used on fighters etc.

Star Trek-

Genesis - A small coffee table sized device capable of destroying worlds
Trilithium- When used it can implode a star by stopping all fusion within the said star.
Phasers- A powerful energy beam commonly used
Photon Torpedoes- A common ordinance used.

While both have disadvantages and advantages in a space based only battle the Enterprise from a technological stand point could easily destroy the largest battle cruisers without sustaining major damage. Let's not forget about the plethra of powerful alien species in the Trek universe like the Borg who would assimilate everything and spread like a virus through the Star Wars universe once they assimilate hyper-drive technology.

As much as i love them both as they are my 2 favorite sci-fi properties I have to give the Trek universe the edge in an all out inter-galactic war.

I like both, but Star Trek DS9, Voyager and Enterprise were just to fantastic for Star Wars to beat in my humble opinion

I was never into Star Trek...When my son was young Star Wars just came out and he wanted to see it..He got hooked and so did I.

I grew up with Star Trek and loved it along with all the spin offs of the orig. But i also really enjoyed Star Wars! So picking a fav. is just too hard to do! They both have such great momments and episodes,great lines etc... Nope i just can,t decide!

Hard one to choose. I like them both, but there are definitely differences. Star Wars utilizes some supernatural aspects, but when it comes to science, they got it all wrong. Luke's mother wouldn't have died from childbirth, for one thing. How can they build giant ships, have light sabers, pod races, and not have the medical expertise to save a woman from childbirth? Second, Vader. They covered him up in a big ol' black suit to hide his burn wounds. Ever heard to skin grafting/plastic surgery???

I like Star Trek better, I think, because it puts into question certain theories, ideas, and concepts, like androids/holograms with human emotions, life after death, time shifts/travel, dealing with other cultures from other planets, or struggling with our humans emotions in the future.
