Nursery rhymes are a big part of urban legends...One of my favorites is "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight." This nursery rhyme is believed to be of late 19th century, American origin, and the lyrics allude to the fantasy that you can wish upon a star.

My question is this. If at any given night, you could go outside and see the brightest star, and make a wish, and know that the wish would come true, what would it be ?

It would be.......that we could all live in peace and equally, and that some people would stop having such crappy attitudes.

original.gif I'll second that on crabby attitudes...My wish would be that all the children in the world would finally be safe, have enough to eat, and enjoy their childhood...I read too many horror stories on what is happening to these kids, here in the U.S. and other countries..It makes me sad, but maybe I'll see a special star tonight... hmm.gif

I don't think one wish by one person is enough to save the world.

Therefore, I'm gonna be selfish and say that my wish is to always have enough money, whatever I wish to spend it on. original.gif
I would do everything in my power to sort out cruelty to animals, and I would begin here in Ireland - the attitude to animals suck here and it infuriates me!

I would wish that this whole earth would become a peaceful, safe, clean place for everyone and that selfishness, fear, greed ego,and just plain evil would vanish for good! yes.gif

Oh I forgot to add, that I wish I was the richest man on earth, that will be all.

I'd wish for the power to heal any sickness or injury of anyone that I came into contact with.

Hmmm, I usually don't tell my personal wishes, but I usually wish for my friends to be happy, even if that happiness carries them away from me. And then I have a few other selfish wish which I won't tell because if you tell someone your wish, it won't come true.

Wishes can be a dangerous thing.

I read this book once, actually I think it was a Goosebumps book laugh.gif.

This girl in school was awarded three gifts by a witchy lady.

She got frustrated with kids picking on her and said "I just wish everyone would leave me alone." And in an instant, everyone was turned into flies.

Be careful what you wish for wink2.gif. You might just get it!

hahaha, that's always kind of been my feeling too Empress...

Careful what you wish for... you just might get it.

Although, I kinda wish someone would come over to my house and mow my lawn.

Of course, sometimes the brightest star in the sky is actually Mars, so you gotta be careful you're wishin' on a star and not a planet!

Someone will come mow your lawn, but they'll chop their foot off in the process ohmy.gif

Actually, that's kinda funny....

The house I own is a house that one of my best friends grew up in. When we were about 5 or 6 we were playing around with her dad's riding mower... we ran over the neighbor boy (he was ok, we never figured out how to get the blade running) .... he still drives by here sometimes and sees MY riding mower in the carport and apologizes for not stopping in, because he's afraid I'll run over him again, 35 years later, and he's pretty sure I know how to operate the blade this time around. hahahaah rofl.gif
