Being very pale in complexion, I've had 2 or 3 keratoses removed from my scalp, and a couple from my nose. They are pre-cancerous growths caused by sun exposure, but upon learning last year that duct tape is the most effective known treatment for warts, I was curious to try it.

Having applied a small strip of duct tape for three consecutive nights to this tiny wound that refused to heal, it is now entirely gone. The pharmacist with whom I spoke said there was no OTC remedy for keratosis, and dermatologists usually burn them off using liquid nitrogen, which leaves scars.

Has anyone else tried duct tape on keratoses? Obviously, this is directed primarily at those who are in their late 20s or older. Teenagers wouldn't normally have such growths unless they sunbathed habitually early in life.

Hey buddy is this what you're talking about? Because if so it says the cure is Apple Cider Vinegar.

Wrong? Bald is beautiful! And... yes! I do suffer from enjoy my follicle migration syndrome.

Thanks for that link, Exeller. I'll try that next time, but I can honestly say that there's no trace after 3 days with the duct tape.

I have read in may different articles that green tea can reduce damage from sun exposure. You make strong green tea and soak a cloth in it to place on your face or on your head. Putting green tea in the tub ( I would use tea bags for this) can help your whole body. Also a diet high in tomatoes can help your skin immensely to prevent sun burns. As to the duct tape, I had not heard of that, but it makes sense since the duct tape will block out all oxygen and in essence suffocate the growth.

I have heard that sticky tape is good for lots of things actually, with warts and bumps and growths or whatever if you use tape then it starves the thing of oxygen so it dies.......

FrankBlunt,
The usual treatments for Keratosis are Freezing ( i.e Liquid Nitrogen), Cutting or scraping and or a special cream or gel. With this in mind I think it's probably best that you go back to your Doctor with your concerns, who will be able to give you proper advice. Unfortunately UM is not the place to ask for remedies or treatments for such. This is not a medical forum nor is it a place where anyone is qualified to give you an answer.

Wishing you the best thumbsup.gif .
