There are times when a good chick flick will give you a little boost...and since I am sitting here watching Return To Me, I wondered what other ones people had watched and loved.
The newest one I got hooked on is Music & Lyrics but my favorite is You've Got Mail. I admit it, I am a fan of Meg Ryan.

One of my all times favorites was "Sense and Sensibility" with Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant.
One of the best ever imo, and it's not really that sappy...well, perhaps towards the end.
Came out in '95. Here's a little snippet:
When Henry Dashwood dies unexpectedly, his estate must pass by law to his son from his first marriage, John and wife Fanny. But these circumstances leave Mr. Dashwood's current wife, and daughters Elinor, Marianne and Margaret, without a home and with barely enough money to live on.
The sisters struggle for economic survival and search for romantic fulfillment in a society obsessed with financial and social status and must learn to mix sense with sensibility in their dealings with both money and men.

Hitch
I don't like chick flicks because the situations are unrealistic and one the person the main character is trying to get with is usually characterless or stereotypical(all the dudes are written like prince charming).
I liked Hitch because it was funny, made a point, and unlike most chick flick male leads I find Will Smith more real. The only problem I had with the movie was the actress lady who the fat guy was chasing after...she didn't show much of a character.

That can be true in some of the movies.
I also love French Kiss. Maybe I have given up on finding "true love", so these movies even if they are goofy or not very realistic make more sense to me.

Aliens is the best chick flick feminist movie ever! I love how Ripley goes back for the little girl at the end despite all the wossy men telling her how foolish it was. Strong mothering instinct and powers beat all in the end, and the girl saves the day. It's the coolest.

hhhmmm
chick flick. if you mean to make you cry there are plenty.
I saw the Piano listed and I'm actually listening to the soundtrack. Great film . Chick Flick ? It's an artful film. Worthy of more than being listed just a chick flick. it's sad that it takes something blowing up every 5 minutes to keep some people interested.
Plenty of people didn't want to see Alien at first because of a female lead.( it was actually a sleeper at first )
I see chick flicks as movies like Alien(s) , Thelma and Louise is a defining chick flick . The Magdeline Sisters. Gloria - the original with Gena Rowlands. a great flick.
I did enjoy The Long Kiss Goodnight - that had things being blown up everywhere .

Say Anything with Ione Skye and John Cusack is another good one.
French Kiss with Kevin Klein and Meg Ryan and *be still my beating heart* the dreamy Jean Renault. (I know, I don't know what it is, he does it for me)
A
Fish Called Wanda is one of my all time favorite comedies, but that's really not a chick flick.
Little Women was awesome.
someone mentioned Fried Green Tomatoes... that was an OK movie... the book was even better.
The
Color Purple is an awesome chick flick.
Oh, and I have to add the Australian movie...
Muriel's WeddingOh and one last one....
