A man has been questioned by police at LaGuardia airport in New York after smuggling a monkey onto a flight from Florida by hiding it under his hat.
Passengers spotted the animal when it climbed out and perched on the man's ponytail, Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Alison Russell told reporters.

Ms Russell said the monkey - a marmoset - spent the remainder of the flight in the man's seat and was well-behaved.

It is unclear whether the unnamed man will face any criminal charges.

It's a very cute monkey. I'm not sure how I would feel if I was a passenger. Monkeys can be really smelly and carry deseases...but they are darn cute!

I can understand what this man was probably thinking, he didn,t want his little buddy stuck in the luggage compartment! And i don,t blame him, i,ve heard horrible stories of animals being traumatized, injured and left on the tarmac in the baking sun for hours before the poor animal is loaded onto the plane! And once in the luggage compartment the noise is much louder and frightens them, with no one to comfort or reasure them, sometimes it,s too hot or too cold! The poor things have no idea whats going on or why,and when your pet is your best friend and member of the family you can,t stand the idea of putting them through that! I don,t think what he did was right for a number of reasons, but i can understand and have sympathy for him! I just wish the travel industry could come up with something to make pets and their owners feel safe and happy, and everyone else as well!

True enough, that is why I wouldn't take my pet on a plane.

Oh my goodness! That is a cute little monkey! I have no idea how they could regulate the shipping of animals better. But in a way this story is really funny and a little scary. I mean on the one hand it's funny that he was able to sneak the monkey under his had but on the other what else are people sneaking on that isn't cute or funny? ohmy.gif

Mabon.
