I posted a picture called Ronnie and the Spoon yesterday, and I see that alot of people have looked at it. Ronnie is my stepdad, and he is dying. We would really like some feedback about this picture for him, as he is convinced it was his mother. (I think he might be right!) Thanks for helpin a newbie!!

Hey, we are a community, so anything you need help with, just ask, someone will know either how to help or else can point you to soemone else who can help.

As to the icture, I do not see what he meant to be his mother? Can you point it out to us?
She-ra
Yes I clearly see a spoon in mid air, in both the dark and light pictures. Let me ask you a few questions.

What was going on around the time this picture was taken?

Did YOU take the picture?

Did you sense anything at at the time the picture was taken? If so, what? Please explain with as many details as possible.

Did anyone actually, physically SEE the spoon levitate or did it just show up on the pic?

Do you have the negative of this pic?

Are you certain this pic hasn't been manipulated in any way?

((If you would like me to do a reading on your step father, please post on my thread "picture experiment: try me".))

Take care, Jody original.gif

Well, This is an interesting pic.! The thing that gets me is when I focused directly in on the spoon
with my picture editer to try and see if it was dropped or being suspended by string or something,
I could not see any motion blur. Which leads me to think it may be authentic.

aww... blush.gif LOL!

I guess I look for the norm in a picture. I was looking for a ghostly mist or shadow, not a spoon floating int he air. I know that I would be pretty excited aobut taking a picture where something liek that was visible.

I am having to wipe tears away...you guys are awesome! Here are some answers

What was going on around the time this picture was taken?

His mother died just a few weeks prior...I had gone home to West Virginia from Texas for the funeral

Did YOU take the picture?

Yes, I took the picture

Did you sense anything at at the time the picture was taken? If so, what? Please explain with as many details as possible.

I did not sense anything at the time, although the spoon story had been told at the funeral. The story, in a nutshell, was that she'd wet a spoon with water and put it in the freezer. When he would not get up for school, she'd pull back thecover and slap it to his skin somewhere to wake him up. May I say that his mother also was a severe schitzophrenic.

Did anyone actually, physically SEE the spoon levitate or did it just show up on the pic?

It just showed up on the picture

Do you have the negative of this pic?

Maybe...I'll have to look

Are you certain this pic hasn't been manipulated in any way?
I'd swear on anything. We even went back to the one hour photo place to ask them about it. They said it was the last roll of the night to be developed, and there were NO other "spoons" on the roll. This was in 1990 I think.

I'd love the reading!
MissyAnn
I promise it's authenic!!! I took it and it was long before digital or photoshop was popular! Still gives me the willies!

Yes, I see, I am a "skeptic-believer" of most paranormal pic's. I have to say that this one is absolutely real. I sensed that immediately. Yes Tom R, I too looked and found nothing as well ((and I looked very carefully)).

Considering you just added the magnitude of the significance of the spoon, I am truly aware that yes this indeed was her.

The issue with your granmother's brain has nothing to do with this pic hun.

Now I'm inspired to freeze some spoons and try it out on my son who NEVER wants to wake up in the morning (Muhahahahahaha! w00t.gif). Just kidding.

I await to hear some responses from other members whose judgement's of pic's I truly respect!! wink2.gif You know who you are!! ♥ Jody

I might be completely wrong and sound stupid for saying it, but it looks like there is a Buzz Lightyear action figure in the photograph, below the spoon? That character came out with Toy Story which was released in 1995 (Yes, I know the exact date the film was released. It's a classic, alright? tongue.gif).

If you look at the brightened picture I posted, there's a very visible shadow being cast by the object, so it's definitely in the air.
MissyAnn
I just called my Mom, and it was in 1996...so I guess I was wrong about the date...His father died in 1990. ( I did say I thought it was in 1990, so it was a guess) And I do not understand the comment about the spoon being in the air...now one dropped it or threw it, so what would the shadow mean?

Exactly what I said, that it makes it appear as though the spoon is in the air.

Please forgive my ignorance...I guess I understood that part, I was just wondering if that meant you believed it to be "supernatural" (wahtever the term may be) or if you believed it was "placed " there.

Have patience with me...all of this is new to me!

I'm as skeptical as they get. I won't believe in anything if there isn't any evidence for it. In the case of this photo there's no real evidence to say that it's been placed there, however there's no evidence to tell me that it's supernatural either. So for now I'll just reserve judgement.

I noticed that before the spoon, to me, it is very clearly a woman. I just jumped on here to see Jody and looked at the photo and she is there!!!

Edit: actually there are two faces, one to the right of the Angel and one to left at a lower point, see it?

I'm going to use the "P word" everyone hates so much:

The term pareidolia describes a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. Common examples include images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon, and hidden messages on records played in reverse. Wiki

With that said; just look at the photo for a moment. Look at all of the different colours, textures, the lighting and the shading. It would be strange if in all of that there wasn't a random assortment which resembled a face. Then if you ignore the effects of apophenia, actually focus on the "faces", they really don't look much like faces at all.

I don't want to start preaching to people what they should and shouldn't believe, that's up to the individual, but do you really believe there is significance to seeing faces in patterns like that?

This is an amazing picture. The spoon seems to be actually floating in the air (as evidenced by the shadow it makes). It isn't moving, or it would be blurry, so it can't be a thrown item that just happened to be caught as it flew by. I don't know how you could not see it when you took the pic though, since it has a shadow, so it has to have been hanging there when the pic was taken (as opposed to imprinted by some supernatural force).

I agree, the faces are probably just our eyes making shapes we recognize. The spoon, on the other hand, is hard to explain, hanging in the air, but not seen by those present when the pic was taken.

I took the picture, and if it happened to be there, trust me I never noticed. (and the other 4 people there did not either...not that any of us was actually looking for a hanging spoon) The other people where all across the room watching home videos.
