Cats go missing...

It is a supernatural mystery, strange enough to test the detective skills of the X Files' Mulder and Scully... or perhaps this one is a case for Ace Ventura.

Up to 40 cats have vanished from an area which has been dubbed the 'Bermuda Triangle' of the West Midlands.

The pets disappeared from just a few streets and no signs of any of them have ever been found. Some families lost as many as three cats, one after the other.

But there is one resident who, like others in the town of Stourbridge, refuses to believe it's just a coincidence.

'It really is a bit of a Bermuda Triangle for cats,' said Julie Wottoon. She has started a campaign to try to solve the mystery after her cat, 15-year-old Norman, went missing in May.

She has drawn up a list of the vanished felines in the hope of finding some clues.

The mystery came to light several months ago, when people discovered 36 cats had gone in about two years.

When the figure rose further, charities stopped rehoming animals in the streets around Meriden Avenue.

Rob Hall, from Stourbridge Cats Protection, said: 'We can't rehome cats while something like this is going unsolved.

For 38 cats to go missing and none of them to be found is very unusual.'

A very interesting mystery. I wonder what is taking the cats? Maybe an animal testing group for nefarious reasons. Or maybe something supernatural.

A cat freak?

That is interesting. Where are they all going? Are they going by force or their own freewill?

Well if someone isn,t stealing them to sell for scientific research testing, which has been known to happen! I would bet there is a real cat hater at work! Poor babies, i hope the investigation turns up something really soon!

When I moved into this neighborhood 4 years ago, it was thick with cats, they were everywhere. Then, they were all gone. The culprits were spotted on several occasions - owls.
It had been a very dry summer and apparently there was a shortage of the usual owl chow.

Duh! It's Alf!

Owls can't eat cats.
Foxes MIGHT be able to, but it would be very unusual. I was under the impression that urban foxes tend to be very shy of cats (or at least, non-aggressive. The ones in my area certainly are..). Anyway, if a fox was attacking cat's, we would also hear of a rise of injured cats making it back to their owners.

It's unlikely to be the local takaways: cats are too fiddly to skin and fillet. It would be cheaper and easier to go to the cash and carry for chicken pieces.

Something stranger is going on, and it's almost certainly to involve a human somewhere along the line.

'Cat gets out his hunting rifle and cammo' kit.

last time i had tandoori chicken from our local indian it wasn't chicken. it was either the leg of a cat or a rabbit. tasty though, whatever it was.
stevewinn

Hi All,

It will be someone catching them and releasing them miles away from home, ive done the same thing myself, there was a lady across the street who use to feed all strays, there was about 20-30 cats, most nights you couldnt get a sleep with all the crying and fighting out of them, it wasnt until they started to attack and kill my racing pigeons, i lost in three weeks £1,000 worth of pigeons, so i had a meeting with my neighbour but because the cats were strays she couldnt control them so i called the RSPCA who said they couldnt do anything. went out bought cat trap, i removed 26 cats to pastures new, cost me a fortune in kippers,

(the same thing wil be happening in this case)

Steve,
chemical-licker
they are gaining intelligence and 1 day will rule the planet and be the dominant species of the this planet unsure.gif WELL LETS FACE IT HUMANS ARE BECOMING DUMB yes.gif
rosenrot
Well, it couldn't be owls or foxes. While they can pick off a few younger ones, they cannot possibly be responsible for all these disappearances; housecats can get as large as 20lbs. My bet is on humans. Whether it be satanic cult or someone trapping and releasing them as stevewinn said. I would look at the families in the neighborhood that have not lost any cats or don't have cats.
