Matthew Vaughn To Helm "Thor"
By Garth FranklinFriday August 10th 2007 12:16am

Marvel Studios has set Matthew Vaughn ("Stardust," "Layer Cake") to direct a live-action adaptation of the Marvel Comics character "Thor" reports Variety.

Mark Protosevich ("I Am Legend") penned the adaptation of the blonde-tressed, hammer-wielding hero who's sent to Earth to protect mankind.

Vaughn was previously attached to direct "X-Men 3" before bowing out for personal reasons. Production is slated start this winter, implying a 2009 release.

Thor would have to be my favourite comic.
I cant wait!!
I could see Brad Pitt playing Thor, lol

I think they should stop... or start making an effort. Spiderman and X men are good to mediocre but Fantastic Four and Elektra were appaling.

True, True.
On one level I reckon they should leave most comics alone.
But hollywood has been too stale lately. They just cant think of an original idea.

There's a lot of good books/comics/video games out there that would make good movies but like anything else it depends on the treatment they are given.. And the thing with F4 and Elektra was that Fox had them and well, they obviouslt haven't treated it right.

I wonder what direction they will take with Thor classic or ultimate..
