Does anyone know any good sources of information on jewish history, preferably from a non religious point of view (if there is any)
Someone ive asked before who i thought would know said that there is only a spiritual answer to that question.
But i thought jews were a race of people... im just unsure how it all works, perhaps im a little misinformed.
Where did they come from, how did they get to be where they are today etc.
Sorry if you struggle to understand the question, my brain is missing a few bits and pieces today

Umm...Jewish history is the OT. Jews (even those not in the religion) accept the Biblical account of their history up to the exile. The Israeli Constitution is founded on OT principles and in their history books. The story of the patriarchs is told. Simple answer, there isn't a non-religious source because Jews have always been religious.

The Jews are an offshoot of the Canannites and share a deep cultural context (e.g. the God El, language etc.).

A good book I ran across is called "Tree of souls, mystery of Judaism", by Schwartz. It has some good historical facts along with the sects within Judaism as well as some history.
