I don't know what they're using to start with. If it's p2p I can help a little. Many sites are using p2p software to cut down on their server load/saving money.
With other download problems I would probably just recommend seeing if their ISP has a high load bottlenecking policy or check with their internet company's help line to reset their connection and do a line check, if they tell you they can't, they're being lazy idiots... Tell them to run it from their own computer (which they can) - they will press you to send a guy out to make more money off of you but do not do that first, badger them if you must to do line checks and if need be call back a few times to get a different operator for different ideas. If they don't help, try to get a local guy to talk to if you can... If all that fails, I would then assume it's your own line and to have a guy from the company to come out to look at it. Though check your own wires first if you know where they are just to double check. I had a wire loose one the phone line a few days ago and it would jiggle a bit in and out cutting off my line, I just plugged it back in properly and it's been a charm.

Do you have a firewall that could be cutting off the complete download of videos or files? I don't see why it would work till the middle and just stop other wise.

I agree with where Kratos has been leading you. You can try a speed tester to get an idea of your actual connection speeds,
here is a good one. Try it during peak hours (5pm-7pm) and off hours, it may come in handy when talking to your ISP, especially when they claim you have certain speeds and you know you don't.
Could be some sort of system hijacker too. Is there anything else going on abnormal besides the internet connection issues? System slow downs, freezes, crashes, error messages, etc? Usually they aren't stealthy enough to just bog down the connection, but occasionally I run across a decent one. Ad-aware has had a bad couple of months with their definition files, they just aren't catching a lot of the new stuff. A couple good ones to try are
ewido online scan and
Superantispyware (both free), they've both been doing really well at keeping up to date and catching things that others are missing. Spybot is still good, but with the thousands of new malware programs that pop up every month no program can keep up, not even the ones you pay for. If they find anything, reboot and run them again - if the problem reappears you may need more help. It's always good to check, and if you do it and the cable company claims the problem is on your end, you can proudly flaunt that your system is clean as a whistle.

Did you go to the links and try to download the software? Or call your isp? Just click the links and follow the directions to test with everything that says
free, some of them also have pay software, ignore all that. Once you've tried if you have any problems or questions, come back and we can go through step by step - but you gotta at least be willing to give it a go, mate, or it won't get fixed!

Well your net isn't down and the test went through with the download test. When your files don't download or stop half way do you let them sit and wait for them or do you just click the close button on them?

Here are some free download managers:
http://www.download.com/sort/3120-20_4-0-1...&gfiletype=Sounds like you've got a 'Keep Alive' issue. Where the server on the other end is not recognizing your connection after a certain time span elapses. These download managers circumvent that, and also allow you to continue a download where you left off if your connection does get interrupted.

You just have a slow internet connection, your ISP provision is limited, therefore your download speeds will take longer, usually resulting in being disconnected because of a 'time out' issue.
If you can change your provider for a larger MB or see if your ISP can offer a better package.
