Why must it come to such demise?--
Your heart as red as mine.
Sentiment is a boundary crossed
And our Love like the twisting trunks of two
palm trees.

Let not vengeance cease this union!
Let not ego chill our hearts!
For it is only once that I can see
the red ribbon wrapped amongst
your ginger hair.
Emily Dickinson
I like this poem even though it leaves me sad. You paint nice pictures with your words.

I agree with this.

The descirption of the red ribbon nestled within the ginger hair is very, very vivid.

Did you base this poem on any event, or feeling in particular?

Sorry I didn't reply sooner...barely remember to look back at my posts.

I used to know a girl that always wore a red ribbon in her hair. It was a strawberry-gingerish hue of hair. This was when I was in tenth grade I believe...don't remember how old I was exactly wink2.gif

I liked her..she liked me...she wanted more than I did and I find regret in our parting even still today. Even if only for a moment.
