Hehe.......Henin and Roddick will go through original.gif .......my prediction.
Bean Sidhe
Two great matches today are expected..........V.Williams-J.Jankovic and S.Williams-J.Henin.
Personally i would like Serena and JJ to go through but i think Henin is to strong at the moment for any player out there.
Lets go JJ !!!!

What a match it would be if the Williams sister had to play each other! I still remeber that final!

Blake lost in a heartbreak 5 set that went to a tiebraker. sad.gif
Shoot, Roddick has to play Federer...

Sorry for Blake i know you like him a lot....*shrugs*,but so far my predictions were correct original.gif
Also......Justine went through,oh god i am thinkin' about starting to work as a prophet.
Bean Sidhe
And sorry about Nadal.....he's goin' home to Spain and he really had problems in that match with injuries.I never thought Ferrer could play this US open so good,well.....we all make mistakes sometimes.
Bean Sidhe
With tears in my eyes i must congratulate Venus on the win, from the first minute it was a great match and she was hitting the ball incredibly hard the entire match.
Whenever JJ hasn't gone deep with her balls Venus was instantly hitting the winner or "semi" winner,it was a very powerful match. Also i would really like to see her comeback and take the trophy again. My fav player has lost but after all i am satisfied ,with this year amazing record of 66 wins and only 16 loss and now number 2 she had a great season.
Personally i think Venus and Davidenko have the best chances to win the trophy by the way they played their games on this year US open.Who knows......we shall see that in the forthcoming days.

*hangs his head once more cause of JJ's loss and logs out of UM*
frogfish
The Venus/JJ match was great! Congrats to both on an amazing match!
The way Venus is playing, I think she can beat Henin, and whoever she faces in the finals (probably Kuznetsova). Yes, I picked Kuznetsova over Chakvetadze.

Djokovic will play Ferrer, and hopefully the young Serb will win. I really like him. I want Davydenko and Djokovic in the finals, but Davydenko has the odds against him in playing Fed (0-11). Davydenko has played GREAT tennis, and NOT ONE of his matches has been aired here in the US! I'm very upset! mad.gif

I hate tennis,I cant stand those male looking females or those show off sisters Venis and whats her name,UGLY UGLY UGLY,but to yall fans ,to each his own. thumbdown.gif

Yeah it was a great match *hangs his head cause of JJ's loss again*.Venus lost,oh geez i really wanted her to have a great comeback and take the trophy....its Justine again in the finals against Kuznetsova, hmmmm i think i lost my interest for the finals LOL.
Anyway, like you said Davydenko has very negative score against Federer, but i personally hope Roger will lose cause i really don't like him and Davydenko is playing like crazy on this years US open.
Like month ago Roger dared to say Novak is less talented then other young players out there and he named Gasquet and Murray as more talented one *shocked*,i dont know on what drugs he was when he said that but i personally think of him as very envyous person and non-emotional robot who can never put a smile on his r******ed face.
He allready said something like that like two or three years ago when Serbia played their match against Switzerland in Davis Cup,he said Novak is too young to fake injuries and stuff but he really had troubles with his back in that match,he was like barely walking cause of pain....it was very unsportsman kinda statement.I guess soon enough everyone will see what kind of miserable person Roger is.....and i would really like to see him havin' problems like Novak had and still occasionally has and hear him what he would say if he had to give away lots of his matches cause of injuries.
To be honest i would like to see them both in finals where Novak could take his revenge for all that miserable words coming out from the mouth of the ATP number 1.

Also Novak is third person who secured place on the Masters finals in Shangai.

frogfish
Well, Henin won the Women's final. She deserved it. She played great tennis this Open, and this year! Way to go Justine!

Fed beat Davydenko 7-5, 6-1, 7-5...a "close" match, but Fed won sad.gif

A Djokovic/Fed final! Go Djokovic!
Bean Sidhe
I say Go Novak also...LOL.Shhhhh......its startin' right now.....big finals,whooo hoooo !

Man, I can't believe Djokovic lost...He had 5 set points in the first set, and a couple more in the second. He could of easily been up 2-0...

Just will have to wait until the Aussie Open...

Well....i am not concerned much considering he is my favourite player, but he is still very young. This was a very big experience for him as it would be for any youngster out there.
5 set points....yeah...he was so close,he even had the support of Sharapova and Robert de Niro but WTH *shrugs*.I say next time on US open he will be much more experienced and he allready felt the atmosphere in the final of the grand slam so i think he will definately be amongst favourites.
No time for crying......season goes on original.gif
Bean Sidhe
Nice....Davenport is comin' back.....and what a return, she took the Bali tournament and defeated JJ on her way to this title.
Honestly i never liked you much, but its really good to have you back.
Well done Lindsay original.gif

Yay for Davenport!

Yaaaay........Ivanovic took Luxembourg title and Venus Seoul.Waitin' impatiently for Sttutgart original.gif

Who is pumped for the Federer vs. Sampras matches this year? That is going to be great. To bad Pete isn't at his best ever. A lot of questions would be answered.

I adore tennis!! I'm playing this semester in school

Watchin' Australian Open this dayz ??? original.gif
~Cheese~
I'm watching. My favorites are Serena and Fed to win.
frogfish
Man, that Tipsarevic/Federer match was insane! I watched all 4 hrs and 43 mins of that one. WHAT A MATCH! I feel sad for Tipsarevic, that he didn't win, but again, I feel happy for him because that was the greatest match of his life, and his model for mental toughness will be looked upon with admiration.

Ivanovic vs. Venus...good match. Another great one to watch, Sharapova vs. Henin.
Blake vs Fed, aww man. Hopefully Blake can pull this one off!

I want to see a Djokovic/Nadal/Blake final. I can't pick a winner though, I love all three of them.
Man, the Serbians are winning over my heart. Great tennis by Djokovic, Ivanovic, Jankovic, and Tipsarevic. Plus, my faves Nadal and Blake are doing great.

Our Girl's HS season starts soon, so I'll be watching them. Our conditioning starts in summer.
~Cheese~
Go Blake!!

First of all......hello to you Frogfish after a while, meanwhile i changed my nick and we meet during da Grandslam here again original.gif.Second ,i think this Aussie Open 2008 will take JJ......she played bad the tournament since its started but the opponents are falling one by one original.gif As far as mens finals are concerned i think that Rafa and Novak will play in finals but after all we shall see.
Bro,that match against Federer by Tipsarevic was great,he plays very rarely on this level and usually only against very strong opponents....otherwise mental approach is a problem number one for Janko and thats why he didnt reach the top ten still.

All in all......its very good to see ya here after a while Frogfish.....and i hope we will have a lotta more tennis discussions like this.

Peace !

Poor Serena
Bean Sidhe
Poor Serena and great JJ who is still struggling with injuries and consequences of playing by far most matches of all players last year and still managed to find strength to defeat one of the two of great sisters Williams. All i have to say,is........*points down to his signature* original.gif

Hey! Nice talking to you! I'm surprised that Janko has trouble with mental-toughness. His mentality seemed amazing to me in that match agains Fed. He came out with the mindset that he will beat Federer, and showed the world that Roger, is indeed, human. I hope he continues to blossom, as I would love to see more of him, and his powerful groundstrokes and down-the-middle serves.

How about Sharapova COMPLETELY DISMANTLING Henin? I never saw that coming...All I can say is WOW. Jelena will be in for a hard match if Sharapova continues that level of play!

Funny thing is, I find myself rooting for Ana, not Venus. tongue.gif

ALso, what about the suprise in Frenchman Tsonga! He beat Gasquet and Youzhny on his way to his match against Nadal. What a powerful hitter. Sadly, his brilliant run will end here...

Oh yea, and go Blake!

Oh yes,Janko has troubles with opponents of his level and weaker then him.....often losing those kind of matches cause i guess he finds hard to motivate himself for players outside top 20,but he really gives his max against top ten players .....almost allways playing marathon matches in 5 sets and over 4 hours against them.
Considering his down-the-middle serve he started using it like two years ago.....a bit strange serve but efficient.
Maaaan,Sharapova totally dismantled Henin to my and i guess everybodies surprise.......but i hope that will make easier trip to finals for my favourite one....JJ of course.
Hmmmmmm.........about Ana and Venus.....i guess you are falling under the influence of her looks LOL at least thats my explanation why are you rooting for Ana original.gif.

Tsonga was.......and still is a complete stranger and biggest surprise of the first Grand Slam of the year......but as ya said.....i think also his brilliant run will end here sad.gif

As far as Blake is concerned i really wish him a lots of luck against Roger.......but honestly i think Roger has completely recovered after that awesome, absolutely incredible match against Tipsarevic......and even that Novak is my fav player i still consider Roger # 1 favourite to take Aussie Open.

Now enough talking......lets get ready for the semifinals wink2.gif
~Cheese~
Let's go Fed

Fed is a robot LOL

Ivanovic over Hantuchova
Sharapova over Jankovic

Man, what a close match Blake palyed against Fed. 7-5, 7-6(5), 6-4. I'm still waiting for Blake to win an Open. I'm sure he'll do it, but he just needs to get over the hump against Fed. He always plays Fed close, but loses. sad.gif Blake, start getting ready for Roland-Garros, so you can beat Roger!
Semifinal match: Fed vs Djokovic. Go Novak!

BTW, he played a very good match against Ferrer!

Nadal over Tsonga
Djokovic over Federer
Bean Sidhe
Small correction my dear frogfish........Tsonga over Nadal LOLOLOLOL AMAZING !!!! Incredible surprise....just.....still cant believe it as i still cant believe JJ lost the match to Sharapova sad.gif
frogfish
I kind of expected Maria to knock out Jelena. She has been on fire. What a come back sweet Ivanovic made! Getting bageled in the first set, she played hard to knock out Hantuchova! Way to go Ana. It's going to be a titanic battle of groundstrokes in the Women's Final!

linked-image

Wow...Tsonga is right. His play is ridiculous! Wow, to take out a surging Nadal in that fashion takes some strength, stamina, speed, and guts. Way to go Jo-Wilfried (man, I love that name). He deserves it. It will be a "ridiculous" and insane match against whoever he plays, be it Novak or Roger. He has taken out 4 seeds, including 3 top-ten on his way to the Aussie Open finals...

His groundstrokes are just stellar. His form is top-notch too, and so is his fitness...just like Nadal.
linked-image

BTW, go Novak!

no.gif No appreciation for beauty and skill whatsoever...

Fact is, they will go down as some of the greatest players in WTA history...
More than 14 Open titles, 3 Gold Medals, and $36,000,000 in career earnings between them...from tennis alone! Not to mention endorsements and ads.

And Serena did some stunning shoots for SI...
Bean Sidhe
Whoooo hoooooo.....Novak is currently leading with 2:0 in sets against the robot Roger LOL and is really on a good way to reach the finals original.gif
And i am still wiping tears from my eyes after iron woman JJ's end of winning streak on Aussie Open cause she couldnt fight anymore with her injuries and she received 4 injections (pain killers) before start of that match sad.gif but it didnt help.
Bean Sidhe
And.....yiiiiiippppppppeeeeeee !!! Novak went to finals after defeating Federer and not losing a single set on this Grand Slam original.gif Oh boy oh boy what a success for Serbian tennis.....Ana and Novak....both playing in finals......i'm speechless original.gif
~Cheese~
Congrats Novak
Bean Sidhe
And not to forget Nenad Zimonjic who is also playing in finals of mixed doubles......oh boy....what a great achievement on this Grand Slam, whoooo hooo !
I cant wait another...hmmmm.....10 hours for great finals between Sharapova and Ivanovic, its going to be a great match.
And i still cant believe Nole literally swiped da Federer in three sets.....just amazing.
frogfish
Go Novak. He absolutely destroyed Federer...The Serbians really took it to the world's #1, both Janko and Novak! Even Blake played Federer close and hard! What a final the TSonga/Djokovic one will be...too bad Nadal won't be playing in it. sad.gif Quick fact: If Nadal did beat Tsonga, and beat Djokovic in the finals, he would be ranked #1 in the world...
linked-image

Is this the end of Fed's dominance in the ATP tour?

....and as much as I like Sharapova, go Ivanovic! original.gif She is now officially my fave WTA player.

Sharapova v. Ivanovic - key facts
Friday, 25 January, 2008

- Saturday's final marks the fifth clash between Ana Ivanovic and Maria Sharapova, but is their first meeting in a final.

- Amazingly, all four matches between the two to date have finished in two sets

- Head-to-head: Ivanovic 2 - 2 Sharapova

- Their only previous meeting in a Grand Slam was at last year's French Open semifinal, where Ivanovic prevailed in straight sets

- Ivanovic is aiming for her first Grand Slam title; Sharapova is chasing her third

- Ivanovic will edge ahead of Svetlana Kuznetsova in the world rankings regardless of Saturday's result and will become the world No.2 when she leaves Melbourne Park

- Sharapova will remain world No.5

- En route to the final Ivanovic has lost only one set, while Sharapova is yet to have lost one
Bean Sidhe
And congrats to Maria....she played perfectly whole tournament and absolutely deserved a victory. On her road to the title she swept aside such names as Henin,Jankovic and Ivanovic ......amazing.
capeo
Wow. Sharipova looks better than she has in ages. Power when she needs it. Better net play when it's there. Most importantly it seems her serve is back and shoulder is good.
