Tennis is a lovely sport. I must admit I prefer playing it to watching though - not that I am any good, my serve is like a wet cod LOL.

I don't watch any of the Grand Slams except for Wimbledon and even then, sometimes I don't watch much of that - you may call me a Heathen laugh.gif

When I was about 11 years old, I could never, for the life of me, understand the scoring in tennis, in the end my mum had to explain it, because I am damned sure I couldn't work it out on my own lol.

Actually one of my favourite films is "Little Mo" based on the life of Maureen Connelly, really nice film. I had it on video but it was when we had a Betamax Recorder and as that has long-gone so has the video sad.gif

I'm a big Rafa Nadal fan! ;)

Oh yes man,Rafa is a great player,no lost ball for him but he's almost nothin' but clay.....he is 40% of Rafa Nadal on other surfaces......you need to be more all around player to stay on top...and he has to improve that immediately.I personally think Novak Djokovic will be next number one after Federer.....hes only 20 now and hes allready on 3rd place and he is far more complete player then Rafa.....equally plays good on every surface.Personally i cant wait for the Masters at the end of the year....its goin' to be awesome both ATP and WTA masters coz it will be like ....3....4 players both ATP and WTA that could easily take the trophy home.

And i must say to Sea......man,hockey is awesome sport to,it is one of the things i allways wanted to train....but my parents never had the understandinfor my wish coz it was pretty expensive to afford to buy gear back then.I can only imagine that its an awesome feeling, with me it will only stay as a dream from childhood and unfullfilled wish original.gif

Top Two Seeds Left Standing at Rogers Cup

August 18, 2007 - Belgian Justine Henin and Jelena Jankovic of Serbia scored semifinal victories on Saturday at the Rexall Centre to advance to the 2007 Rogers Cup presented by American Express singles final.

Henin, seeking her second Rogers Cup crown, defeated Chinese qualifier Zi Yan 6-3, 6-0 in the final four after putting forth a dominant performance reminiscent of her No. 1 ranking.

“I'm very pleased to be in the final again here, it's a tournament I like a lot, and that's a very good preparation for me for New York, so I'm very happy about that,” Henin beamed after her match.

In the championship, Henin will take on second-seeded Jankovic after the Serbian star came from behind to eliminate France’s Tatiana Golovin, seeded twelfth, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 in arguably the match of the tournament to date. Both players hit the ball extremely well off the ground which produced many quality rallies that fans at the edge of their seats. Golovin and Jankovic were appearing in their first Rogers Cup semifinal and certainly relished the opportunity under the lights of centre court.

“I think that we both played very well from the back of the court, we were quite precise and opening the court for a lot of great points, so it was very exciting for the fans,” Jankovic analyzed in her post-match interview.

Henin will be seeking her sixth title of the season while Jankovic will be after her fifth and first at the Rogers Cup presented by American Express, in a battle of two of the hottest players on Tour.

Final Sunday of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Tier I event will kick off at 11:30 a.m. with the doubles final, also featuring the top two seeds in Cara Black and Liezel Huber who will be going up against Katarina Srebotnik and Ai Sugiyama. The singles final will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m.

I love watching and playing tennis. This year, I'm playing as the #1 Singles for my school's varisty team.

I admit I'm a big Rafa fan too, but I sure do like Djokovic. It's nice to see another player that can challenge Rafa and Roger. I doubt Roddick will ever put up a decent fight against those 3.

U.S. Open picks
-Roger Federer
-Jankovic (it very well could be Ivanovic, Henin, or the Williams Sisters)
AztecInca
Well I do love to watch Rafa but as I`m an Aussie I`m a big fan of Hewitt's, what he has achieved for his country in davis cup is truly remarkable and of late he's once again found the form that propelled him to the top. He pushed Fed right to the end in that recent semi-final and although I would still pick Fed over Hewitt, he will definately be a threat at the US open.

Hewitt always is a threat! Hey Aztec, long time no see!

Hewitt-Pitbull was allways one of my fav players.......i hope to that he could be a threat that would add some depth to number of contenders.
By the way i am going to see Hewitt,Djokovic (whooo hoooo) and others in no more then month from now on a Davis Cup match between Serbia and Australia here in Belgrade.

Well I would be pretty confident if I were you. We really only have Hewitt, so essentially we need him to win both his singles plus win as part of the doubles team. Arthurs has retired so Hewitt must replace him in the doubles probably teaming up with Hanley. Guiccone or Lanzek will play the other singles but Guiccone would probably be the only one capable of winning. He is finally beginning to live up to his potential, as his serve is near unbeatable, its the rest of his game that has let him down until recently.

So i guess Guiccone is a new version of Philipoussis original.gif Hehe, anyways i think also that it wont be hard winning over Aussies right now cause your team is basically Hewitt like you said and he is far away from the form he used to have,so i am pretty confident and waitin impatiently for the matches i think he drastically went mentally down in past two years ...i dont know why.

Hewitt suffered from near constant injuries during those two years, he would finally recover and play for a month or two before succumbing too another injury or illness. He has finally sorted out those problems now and with Roche, Fed's former coach by his side I believe he will make it back into the top 5 over the next year or so.

Yeah....saw some highlights of it...and check out todays great 5-setter between Djokovic and Stepanek....the match was just awesome. It lasted for 4h and 44 mins.
I think Federer can expect some challenge in a round or two......before that.....he will swipe his opponents.I would really like Isner to defeat him since i dont like Federer much but still......i give him like 2% for that.
And omg......JJ is havin' some troubles against A.Cornet......damn *grabs his head with both hands*
Bean Sidhe
And it was 6:7 7:6 5:7 7:5 7:6 in Djokovic - Stepanek for amazing 4 hours and 44 mins original.gif

I watched most of the Djokovic/Stepanek match...like 3+ hours!

Man, that was a GREAT match! Both Radek and Novak played great, and put their bodies to the limit! Reminded me of Santoro's play last night! He pushed his body so far!

ohmy.gif Do you guys think Nadal will last another round with his tendonitis? Looks like his run at this years US Open will end soon, either with defeat or withdrawal.

I'm glad Novak won, because with Nadal injuries, there would be no one to challenge Federer if Novak lost. The damn draw is soooo lopsided!

Ahh the irony! Nadal's opponent retires!

Henman's run at the US Open ends, and so will his career. I wish his a great retirement. He was the face of British tennis for a while....

I play quite often, but I'm not anywhere near that good. Last year, our first singles Eric could beat me 6-0, 6-0. He is thinking of TRYING to go pro, because even then he was only the 7th ranked player in MI. He lost to our rival school's #1 singles Lawrence 6-3, 6-1. Then Lawrence (ranked #5) lost to a GREAT player ranked #2 in the state from Ann Arbor in the regional playoffs 6-0, 6-0. Then THAT player lost in the State #1 singles championship 6-3, 6-1 to the #1 ranked player in the state.

That said, I would never make it in pro tennis.

Well bro....its important to participate, not so much to win original.gif. Anyways....yup there goes Henman, good bye Timmy *waves*,anyway they now have Andy Murray so.....not so big loss at the end.
On the other hand i reckon Murray to be a better player then Tim was,so wipe your tears UK people better days are coming LOL.

Mirza is a loser player, you'll see that in forthcoming years....i'll give her very slight chances to be somethin' like Kournikova was at the best, movin up and down from place 15 to 35 so i wont waste too much words on her.
Roddick...crushed....pathetic ...Johansson LMFAO.Oh yeah ....check out tomorrow match between Ivanovic and Venus, its going to be tough i am sure and Ferrer - Nalbandian .....my recommendation of the day LOL,other favourites will cruise through the 4th round ...i am sure.

In women’s my favorites are Justine Henin of course, Venus Williams, Ana Ivanovic and surprise Anna Chakvedatze. Venus and Ana Ivanovic will meet in 4th round, i think it will be a good match. I'm a huge fan of men's tennis. My favorite player is Rafael Nadal. The reason I'm more interested in men's tennis is because I find it a lot more exciting. The rallies are usually much longer, there are less unforced errors, and all the fancy tricks they do. It's cool. tongue.gif

Mirza is improving her game. He has made a huge leap in constructing points from last year. He used to just wail on balls. Now she contructs points. She'll be in the top 20 soon.

Venus/Ana will be a great match!

Man, Isner won the first set against Federer, but Federer figured out his serve and proceeded to win the next 3 sets. I bet you that Isner will be a top 15 player withing 4 years. With a good coach and work ethic, his court game could improve tremendously!

Young lost sad.gif He will be playing in the Junior US Open (he's only 18) and I'll bet he wins that. Young will be a good player next year, and I predict he'll make it to the round of 16 or further in Wimbledon and the two hardcourt Opens...

Hey, we all can't forget American Robert Ginepri is still alive!

Roddick/Berdych will be a hard-hitting match! Roddick will prevail though!

My favorite 3 Men players:
1. Rafa - What's not to like?
2. Novak Djokovic - Funny guy, and great player. His impersonations are amazing!
3. Blake - He's such a nice guy, and has the sweetest one hander after Federer

Federer and Roddick are right after them...I like Roger, but I'm sick of him winning. In the past, my liking of Andy has built, only to topple when he loses horribly against Roger or someone else. Isner and Young are also rising in my list!

My fave 3 Women players:
1. Ana Ivanovic - Great player, and she's HOT!
2. Henin - Her game is perfect!
3. Sharapova - She's probably the best WTA player at playing the next point. I still can't believe she lost...
