The peek-a-boo subtle glow of dawn
has given birth to waves of clouds
this morning
thick brushstrokes of rose and periwinkle.
They roll in like ocean waves
bellowing and yahooing! in on this
dry desert valley.
However rare, there is an enchanting scent
of ocean spray from them;
I feel it tickle my welcome nostrils.
I stopped and giggled for a moment...
For a swore when I turned around
I saw that very thirsty
and slightly browning cottonwood tree
cross its brittle branch-fingers
Seeming to call out "pick me! pick me!"
In hopes of rain.

Okay, I love this. The imagery is fantastic and you captured something very real there. Keep it up!

Beauiful. One of the best poems i have read. Your style is youthful and fresh.
