user posted image rMatt Haas: Welcome to another edition of The Other Side! There are a few topics in this week’s article I would like to implement. I would like to thank everyone for their kind words on my introduction article that was posted last week. One thing I would like to point out is that even though I am writing for Unexplained Mysteries and I call myself an experienced Paranormal Investigator that LIGHT Paranormal Research is by no means a perfect Research Group in anyway. In the Paranormal Field we are learning that everything is mostly trial and error. It’s all based upon millions of theories that you could discuss and talk about for months. No Research Group has all the answers, and in my own opinion, neither do these so called scientists.

Who is to say that the people behind the 10 commandments were right when they wrote them? They aren’t because our government keeps changing things every day. Who’s to say when they wrote the bible that it was correct and that the people who wrote it were right? Nobody is perfect, not even God. If God was perfect, everyone would be flawless. So when I write my articles it is based upon my opinions and our Research Team’s study on the Paranormal. I’m not here to make enemies or be argumentative. I am here to share my knowledge, our stories, and experiences. I’d also like to help people in anyway I can because that is our main objective. LIGHT Paranormal Research has come a long way considering it started at the bottomless pit. We’ve become successful in our evidence because our methods and techniques work.

There are a lot of groups out there who makes this field difficult for those who are doing things with the right intent. I’ll make this point of view brief because I bet I’ll get a few hate mails for this one. Some groups are charging their clients to earn a profit. A few groups are approaching their clients with the wrong direction. So when you have a group who is in the field to help people and use the field with the right intent, potential clients shut the door on you in a heart beat because a group did wrong by them.

LIGHT does not charge a dime to their clients for an investigation as we are a volunteer organization. We do it to help people and for scientific purposes. A lot of LIGHT Investigators have a tremendous passion for it and that’s a great reason to do it. I do it for a few main reasons. I am in it to try and get these scientists to open up more and allow the Paranormal Field to become a mainstream science. I’m trying my best to get these skeptics to believe in us by showing them real proof & hard evidence. One of my major goals is also getting the other groups to work together and make it a less competitive area. It seems everyone has their own agenda but yet we are all in it for a lot of the same reasons. Does it make sense to work against each other?

The other thing that annoys the heck out of me is everyone is a big follower of TAPS. They are nice guys, don’t get me wrong. I met them in person and worked with them in North Adams, MA at the Houghton Mansion. However, everyone forgets these guys are on t.v. and not everything is as it seems. I am sure in some small way Sci Fi has built up drama in their script to keep ratings up. In the beginning it was hard to prove to Jason Hawes that a place was haunted as he needed hard proof. Now it seems like almost everything they find strange is Paranormal. Not everything is Paranormal. Natural Phenomena can occur and that doesn’t mean its Paranormal. It’s cool to record it on video, but be careful with what is natural and what isn’t. I’m not in this field to fool myself or my clients with natural phenomena.

Each group should use their own techniques and methods that work best for them. I don’t get how a Research Team such as TAPS can perform one investigation and determine if an establishment is haunted or not? It’s great if something happens on the first try. However, if something doesn’t happen on the first try your going to make a fast judgment and say it isn’t haunted? LIGHT investigates at least two times and a 3rd if needed. Then we review and after review make a decision. There are also many levels of a haunting. I think a place could hold Paranormal Activity but that doesn’t mean it’s haunted. To me a haunting is like being constantly harassed or bothered by a wrestles entity or spirit.

I really wish everyone would get their act together and put aside their ego’s, arrogance and really try and work together and make this a better Paranormal Community. It’s a dream, and maybe someday it’ll happen. Here is the motto I go by. Positive = positive, negative = negative. So why not stay positive?

That's not science. Science isn't everyone doing their own thing. There have to be standards, expectations, commonality. And that's why opinion and point of view is so widely varied on the subject of the paranormal. Look at the different POV on pics of orbs, the use of EMF meters, using crystals and psychics/sensatives, etc. That's why one group can say definately a place is haunted and another says there's nothing there.

Personally, I'd rather error on the side of being conservative in reviewing the evidence. You get faulted more for jumping to a conclusion than for dismissing a possibility.

And I think it's just in fashion now to blame TAPS and Ghost Hunters for their technique. What you see on the TV show is a mere fraction of what happens when they're on site investigating. Untold things never make it to the final cut. That's the reality of making a TV show.

What is so awful wrong about "Thou shalt not murder", "Thou shalt not steal", "Thou shalt not commit adultery", "Honor your parents" etc.?

The reason is, people are skeptical about almost everything. They need proof, and when it's not provided, how can you stay positive? But it's true, neg. = neg.; but "the proof is in the pudding".

If every group had the same & perfect techniques we'd all be at the top. That's what makes each group unique & the ones that are moving up fast are the ones that have found a way that works for them.

Hi Pat

How are ya? Yes I'm back in action & better than ever. In reponse, if groups were to share techniques then each group wouldn't stand apart from all the others. Everyone works differently & have different approaches to the field. To each their own.

I can't even respond to that.
