My sister has the ability to see and talk to spirits/ghosts well here is a crazy story of something that happened to her...
My sister, a couple of our friends and I were all hanging out at this park. My sister is lying on the top of a picnic table with our friend Abbey next to her. Me and Wes were sitting on the car talking. All of a sudden we hear my sister screaming something. We see Abbey running towards us. Abbey is freaking out telling us that soomething is happening to Laura or something along those lines (it was all a blur). We run over there to get my sister and she is shaking but from being freaked out. We have to grab her to bring her into the car because she is having trouble walking.
Apparently, my sister saids that she was lying on top of the table talking to Abbey when she begins to feel a presence when she looks she sees a lot of children surrounding her and Abbey. She feels them looking at Abbey as if they want her for some reason. So she tells Abbey to go away. She feels something pressing her down onto the picnic table and she struggles to get up. She says it felt like something was trying to get inside of her. I am not sure about how it ended, all I know is that she had bruises all around her arm and scratches on her lower arm and elbow from the picnic table.
I know it is hard to believe that it happened but after seeing her in shock and all scratched up, I do believe it and she never would go back to that park again (we used to hang out there all the time).

I have no idea what happened to her, but in my opinion that was not being possessed by any stretch of the imagination. Sounds like one of two things. Either she drifted off for a moment and underwent sleep paralysis of sorts, or a spirit was in her presence was making herself or himself known. Not possession..JN-

I don't think it was possession either because it probably would have gotten "inside" of her and stayed but I really would like to know what happened to her!

We dont always get answers to our questions, but she is ok now, so wondering wont help, as no one can answer that, sorry. JN-

She just tresspassed on some elementals entity.
They just want you out there.

Sometimes, if someone is clairvoyant as it sounds like in the case of your sister, they will be sensitive and open to outside forces.

If she wishes to continue in this field, she needs to learn to "shut down" when she wishes and also not to be afraid to repel spirits if she really doesn't want to know.

During meditation, if she imagines herself surrounded by a white light, from head to toe (almost as if she is sitting inside an egg shape of light), it may go some way to help protect, it is especially good to do this just before falling asleep too, otherwise she will wake up in the morning feeling drained.

Whatever the case, I am glad she is okay

What if people do have sleep paralysis but then some people experience something else which is like it but very different. Maybe sometimes when we think we have sleep paralysis, something else is actually happening. Maybe it is evil spirits trying to take over our body. She did say something tryed to get inside her body. Just hearing that makes me feel cold inside because I have experienced it too.

That seems to be the largest debate as to whether sleep paralysis is a sleeping disorder or that of the paranormal. My son gets it from time to time and I did when I was young. As far as the girl who experienced that event per the OP, it could have been a number of things. But, if it was a demonic entity it could influence her, but they dont have to "try" to possess, they do it, unless someone has free will, in which I am sure she did. When someone cannot say "no" or "yes" they lack free will, so with that said, possession is possible but in her case, I would say NO because once it enters it doesnt leave. If she is a medium or whatever it is possible that some kind of entity messed with her. Other than that, I have no clue..

I always told my fiancee not to put the dishwasher on pot setting just on normal wash. After she died of cancer at 43 I lived alone for about for 4 years but did date sometimes. I used the dishwasher somewhat but noticed in the mornings it was selected to pot setting. These are selective buttons that push in and no way they can change themselves. I kept a log on this and when I married my wife questioned the log and I told her all about it. She noticed too the settings would change about twice a week too. We can explain this strange happening at all, we just live with it. Oh, my previous dates noticed this too.

It is almost as if your first wife is teasing you and keeps changing the settings to that which you never wanted lol.

The fact that other people have noticed it too, makes it all the more credible.

Maybe she had a seizure?

That's what I was thinking... But, on the other hand, being possessed by I spirit or demon is far more likely than a medical disturbance. I really should try to be more down to earth.

Because, when a incident , like the one the Threadopener was talking about, occurs, the first thing a person with normal amount of common sense would think of, would be a medical issue and not the influence of any kind of supernatural entity.

Ok - I am from Europe too, maybe thats why I didnt get it - It is not uncommon that people whos native tongue is not English, express themselves wrong - My self included - But that dont mean you have to "duh" me!
Besides that I think you will be surprised how many people with seemingly "normal amount of common sense" is capable of thinking "outside the box"

First of all, the 'duh' was meant to sound childish and immature, another humorous attempt of mine, which again, didn't work out. Secondly, I don't think that I expressed myself in a wrong way, I only thought of of the possibility of one or two, or perhabs more, grammatical incorrectnesses. So, I don't want your missunderstanding of my phrase gnawing on my conscience. And thirdly, I don't want to deny any existence of anything, but before thinking 'outside the box' and of some spiritual impact, wouldn't it be a bit more reasonable to think of some physical condition, causing the sh**e the OP's sister suffered from.

I don’t think I expressed myself wrong either, but nevertheless both of us must have misunderstood something.
Sure it would be more reasonable to think of a physical explanation first – I always do that – Even if I believe in a lot of things, I am not easily convinced (just ask around here – I can be very irritating when I try to come with a logical explanation on things)
No need to be hostile, I clearly didn’t get the sarcastic part, and just asked a question. Some people here actually seems to look for a “paranormal” explanation first, thas why I asked.

The difficulty about sarcasm is, that it is hard to detect. And we, both being human, can't be blamed for not detecting each others sarcasm. Making new fiends was not my intention at all, even if I might be a bit sharped-tongued sometimes.

As for to OPs sister... I don't have any hypothetical explanation for what happened, except for the one that she might been suffering a hormonal or neuritic disturbance and hallucinating. How was climate at the time it happened?
