Salem, Mass. - A woman claiming to be a Salem witch and her housemate have been charged with mutilating a dead raccoon and leaving the remains on the doorsteps of two psychic businesses.

Self-proclaimed high-priestess Sharon Graham, 46, and her roommate, Fredrick Purtz, 22, both of Salem, were arrested on littering and malicious destruction of property charges.

One of the victims, is the owner of Angelica of the Angels, which offers psychic readings.

"It happened in the wee hours of the morning, which they say is bewitching time when they do their spells," they said. "To me, it was a definite spell."

Graham and others found a dead raccoon and dismembered it in the apartment she then shared with Richard Watson. Watson said he found Graham, and Purtz dressed in black, holding knives and two plastic bags.

"I didn't even know it was a raccoon until the bag was open," he said.

A search of Graham's apartment turned up owl wings, a wolf pelt, tail feathers and a totem pole with a coyote head. She could face more charges.

Members of the wiccan community say Graham isn't a witch because their first rule is to harm no one.

Ummmm ya, I'll agree with the Wiccan community. These people aren't witches, they were just flat dangerous. Animal mutilations? Um... isn't that how serial killers often start their careers? No, they weren't witches at all, just sick.

And they can't be real witches as no witch would do that to an animal, alive or dead. These crazys creep me out and bring a bad name to the term witch.

These poor animals. They didn't do anything to these women. I'm glad they where charged.

If this two really were witches, they have broken their own rules. They should also be well aware that things come back......

no they are not witches. they disobeyed the first rule "harm no one". and if they are [which there not] this will come back 3 times on them harder. they are not witches, just pyscos. that make me sick and are trying to give witches a bad name.

Nope, it doesn't mean they aren't witches, it means they aren't Wiccans. Witches are simply people who practice witchcraft. It's not a religion. Many don't even associate themselves with a certain religion.

However, I am going to agree that mutilating animals is sick and leaving them in front of business is just as bad. Let's not wait for karma to come back and bite them, give them the jail time now.
