I just bought the "Ultimate Collection" for 65€.
I have all the Alien movies on VHS but they're all pretty crappy quality. Horrible sounds, grainy picture etc. So I finally decided to sacrifice 65€ on this DVD-box.
From what I've read it has 2 versions of all the 4 flicks, 36 hours ( w00t.gif ) of extras + perfected picture and sound (9 discs total).

I wonder if anyone got/bought this thing for Christmas or something, is it really all they say and are the extras any good?

my dad has the dvd box set to and its quality

This is a fantastic set just for value for money alone! A lovely combo of old and retrospective interviews from the casts keep the interest going. Would have loved to have seen footage of premieres though, and I think they missed an opportunity to promote the upcoming alien vs predator movie (fingers crossed on that one!)

Yes, the set is worth every penny....
Except that eventually, the long foldout packaging gets tiresome and frustrating in the end. blink.gif

The fact they got 5 of the original 7 members of the cast from the first movie (Yaphet Kotto and Ian Holm were no shows)to do commentary was a coup!

In the extras for the first movie, there are often snippets and footages of scenes not used in the finished film, like the Alien's tail about to stab Brett in the back, Kane actually seen being taken on board the ship, actor Jon Finch as Kane before he was replaced (in a way I was glad he was replaced, Jon Finch was just too pretty boyish for something so horrible to happen to him), Veronica Cartwright slipping and falling on her butt after she was sprayed with blood in the chest bursting scene. There are more deleted scenes not seen in the original 20th anniversary DvD, and even material from ALIEN's Laserdisc release. original.gif

I have yet to look through the extras in the other three films, it will take a LONG WHILE to go through everything. wacko.gif But so far so good! thumbsup.gif

Only a few days ago? Where the hell were you, under a rock? w00t.gif
I don't think there's anybody out there who wouldn't know about ALIEN!

Then again, I am proud to say I have YET to see the first two Godfather movies, or Casablanca, or Citizen Kane. whistling2.gif

Actually, I always find all sorts of extras, commentaries and documentaries very interesting original.gif

For all you out there who are cash strapped, don't despair. I heard each movie will be available seperately soon, one disc with two versions of the film, and one disc with the extras.

For those of us who brought the Quadrilogy pack, we get the 9th disc as a bonus, not available to those who chose to buy the movies seperately.
