I thought I would use my artistic side to depict what I see when I close my eyes... I mean physically see.
Please look at the image carefully, thoughts?

Yes, there is a strange honeycomb pattern in it...
Its as close to a reproduction as I could get.

Edit:A brightened image of the above (I'm using a high contrast ratio 3000:1 monitor, sorry)

huh.gif just looks black to me

We all see things whether our eyes are open or closed. Looking at a black background reveals it. The OP is testing to see if anyone's natural, inherent "seeing things" will work. He is fishing for peoples descriptions of what they personally see. When I close my eyes I see orange/yellow patterns, moving like energy or something. The shape is pretty random, and blurry.

I see the same thing when I look at that perfectly black, unedited square you posted.
Blueguardian
i seem to see darkness sad.gif

when i close my eyes anyway, i saw the picture yesturday and looked at the screen form a different angle and it made sense
goalienan
This is very interesting, but unfortunately I didn't see anything when I closed my eyes...We're supposed to look at the black square and then close our eyes? Or am I doing it wrong.. huh.gif
ShaunZero
Well, test or not, this is what I see: Black and red. Very hard to see the red. Could also be a dark orange. But anyway, the red looks like it was "sprayed" on.
Magnatude

(I'm using a 3000:1 LCD monitor so some of you might just see a black square, here is the same image with bumped up brightness)

This is what I see (its a digital painting of what I see) , I also see the dots (hex pattern) even with my eyes open.
Wondering what everyone else sees when they close their eyes, do others see patterns? dots arranged in strange patterns? Black?...
noyritus
Yes magnatude, that's basically what i see, it differs in strength and color dependent on the light frequency you've been exposed too. I've also thought it's an outlight of the rods and cones in your inner eye, but i don't know that for certain. =) If you press against your eyes you'll see much more vibrant images.

Yeah, its quite a weird pattern, I also get the "tunnel" effect after briskly walking. (looking like ripples receding from the edges of your peripheral vision).
I was always wondering what it truly is that causes those effects, blood pumping contributes of course, but I would be more interested in what the round weird things are.

Raptor
All of the images just looked black, so I tweaked with the brightness and contrast levels a bit so it's visible:

linked-image

That's pretty much what I see as well, but it's completely random. Swirling patterns, varying colours etc. yes.gif
Fluffybunny
That is pretty close although I have more small pinpoints of light..random. I also have a couple floaters that I can see even with my eyes closed.
SatyamShivamSundaram
it looks like some snowflake, or the light from a fire fly to me.
chrisfreak
Cool.
Mine is more to yellowish-orange tho, and it moves randomly.
Somehow I have some control how do they move.

But if I close my eyes long enough, usually this is what I see
Markissluv
When i close my eyes and press on them I see some amazing things. Shapes materialize that have sharp patterns and drift around, then fade away as I focus on them. Some of them seem too look like sharp images of what you would see under a microscope.

Does anybody see circles and groups of what looks like cells floating around when you look say at the sky or a white surface? If I move my eyes they seem to float over towards the direction i move my eye.

That's a form of entoptic phenomena, probably Scheerer's phenomenon or floaters. thumbsup.gif

I see an outline of what i was just looking at at the time I closed my eyes. I see smoke, and planets.
fylgja
You are probably just seeing blood pressure pulsating through the little veins in your eyelids. No need to panic. But I suppose you could talk to the eye doctor about it if you are that concerned. I highly doubt it's supernatural, but what would I know. I'm just a regular person.
bluelight
when i close my eyes, i see some misty cloud moving.
Pelican_Eel
wow this is very well done, looks very much like what i see
Veliska
I see it in the second pic. I closed my eyes after looking at the first but didn't see it.
omoora
well when i close my eyes i see demons and spirits ( im a christian btw so thats my reponse)running around in my head. vivid pictures (thats with my eyes open) of animals and people and i used to go traveliing in my visions(eyes closed), doctors say its my schizophrenia but to me there not my imagination as they really bug me and really have a life of there own and even respond to me looking at them. does anyone else have this level of visionary experience as im trying to find some to talk with about it.
omoora

ps almost forgot does anyone have any invisible bodily expereinces which i can only descible as having moving tenticles attached to your hand(or any other part of the body for that matter), these used to hurt a bit due to the pressure.(this was facinating to my doc).

I respect you for openly admitting you have schizophrenia instead of keeping it a secret like most paranormal obsessed people here seem to do.

About the images you see when your eyes are closed (or open): literally everyone (or almost everyone?) sees these vague cloud-like images, and as stated earlier it is just blood flowing through your eyes and eye lids. It is totally normal.

I'd imagine the little pictures you see are more vivid than ours because you have schizophrenia.
jb81
If I close my eyes then rub them i see lots of shapes and lines, mostly white but some are bright colours. After doing this and opening my eyes I am temporary blind, which is a very weird experience!! I think I better stop doing that really...
Magnatude
One thing which I find very interesting, is these circle/hex patterns are varied/random and sometimes occurs in different pattern sizes. Which leads me to believe that the pattern is not "fixed".
Its simply amazing that we actually do not "see" the light, our eyes take the light converts it into a signal and creates the vision in the back of our brain.

me too! esp at night when i'm laying in my bed. when i can't sleep, i see little red, blue dots moving all around rapidly, and then for some reason, i try not to make it happen but it does.... i start seeing stars and gases, kinda like looking at a picture of a part of the universe.
Shadesong
This might be kinda off-topic, but does anyone ever get the impression that someone's standing right in front of you? When you close your eyes, I mean. This happens to me all the time; it's a lil' unnerving, to say the least. Back on topic - If I press my palms against my [closed] eyes, I see all kinds of swirly, rotating star-like shapes. When I remove my hands and open my eyes, I'm blind for about five seconds. Pretty sure this something to do with cutting off circulation? Or pinching a nerve? hmm.gif

WHAT? HOW DID YOU KNOW! *no sarcasm. honestly!*

and sometimes its like a moving gradiant, like black, then green eating it up, and then orange or some brighter colour, then black eats all up. If you don't know what gradiant is, check this pic out: http://www.photoshoplab.com/images/tutorials/med_format7.jpg
except without the hot chick in a bathing robe in the middle. just plain colours, eating each other up.

I'll have to say that its normal. Sometimes if you look at a light source (lamp, sun) for too long you'll see some weird shapes too. Some times if i close my eyes b4 i sleep i can different shapes and its actually pretty cool.

Same here. The red sometimes looks like a burnt orange. But every now and then I also see flashes of different coloured light.

Just wanted to add that I see what the OP originally was questioning about. I would close my eyes (noticed this first when I was a kid) and would see what looked like the tiles in my kitchen but with inversed colours. The vision my eyes produced when closed looked like there were squares. *shrugs*

I think your tripping on acid! laugh.gif

I saw it. but was in a triangle

I don't think it is anything paranormal. I see movement behind my closed eyelids. It is also like a honeycomb pattern. I have read up about it and it is a natural occurance. When you close your eyes you retain light in the rods and cones. That light reflects in your cornea and creates a "cat like" effect. It reflects within your eye. When you close your eye, there is nowhere for that light to go but back into the eye. Therefore, you see patterns or prisms reflecting.
WereScrib
well... I see a variety of things.. faces, shapes.. pictures i wanna draw.. at first, you obviously see nothing but a sillouette of whatever you were looking at before, and possibly some glaring, brightness, usually which then turns green and "melts" of light sources.. but if it's dark, or your eyes stay closed, at least with me, other things show themselves, sometiems what looks like static, or swirling clouds... but often pictures, horrible or beautiful.. *shrugs* Never noticed or cared too much..

yes it is, but the one on top looks to black to see anything

I just see me and whatever I touch when I close my eyes.

If you put your hands over your closed eyes, and stare deep into the darkness for say at least 30 secs.something will appear.

I always wondered if I was the only one who saw it too lol.

I've always seen colored dots when I close my eyes. The colors always very but I mostly see blue, purple, and red. I also see weird shapes that just float by...

I see the same type thing when I close my eyes... just in a different pattern. I never thought about comparing it with what other people see though... good post.
Tooth_and_Claw
looks like lots of dots moving around.......
indigo girl
I see swirling colors then when I concentrate, I get clairvoyant visions.
It's really scary.

Hmm...can you guess what I'm thinking? rolleyes.gif
Caligraphy
Well of coarse the bottom picture was quite visible laugh.gif

But the top is tricky to visualize. But non-the-less I see slightly red tones, and the outlines of the honeycomb patter, but my computer screen might be tipped at a certain angle as well. happy.gif
Passtheflask
I would be interested to know if anyone else sees a similar image nearly every time they close their eyes.

Hope this is the right thread to ask.

I do. Except for when I touch my eyelids. Then I see really strange patterns
