Well, from what i've read on this! (That is if i am undestanding you correctly!) Someone is trying to use
an entrapment or binding spell! This is to keep something evil from getting out.

But, I may be wrong!
llynx
It kinda sound like a prank. If it was from a graveyard, it probably is a prank, silly gothic teens.

something in what way and would that be the graveyad dirt or the yellow salt suffer stuff ( i did mention that the yellow salt smeel like sulffer didn't i)

Well I dun know why it was yellow.. but salt is used as protection against evil when laid across a doorway or window sill, and while I doubt it was dirt from a grave, thats just kinda silly, dirt in general is protection from the dead, keeping them "grounded", literally. Both of these can be found in Voodoo and some forms of Witchcraft. So its either a prank, totally likely considering the salt was yellow, or you have someone trying to protect you.

On a side note.. if it was yellow.. how did you know it was salt..? Kinda scared to know the answer....

Alright, I have read more on it! Sulfur is used for protection as well as banishment (although I have seen it listed as an ingredient for raising negative spirits as well).

If it was sulfur, it was for a protection spell, the burning of sulfur is meant to ward off evil, and is used in a LOT of wiccan rituals (mind you wicca isn't devil worshiping, we don't even believe in the "devil", and most wiccans have rules against harming others in any way. (those who claim to harm are normaly none wiccan pretenders.)) And on another note, sulfur isn't really something a teen would bother getting his hands on, so its looking more like you have someone watching over the house.

If someone is casting a spell on her, stepping in it or not won't make any difference. Spells are designed to be cast on someone without their knowledge or participation. Personally, I don't believe in spells, but I am sure some people do.

You, as a wiccan, can cast a protection spell for your sister, if you feel someone is trying to do her harm. Just remember when casting spells, harm none, and what you put out there will come back to you threefold. I know I didn't get that quote exactly, but it is close.

I know this is really off-topic, and I mean no offence with this, but:

Ever heard of punctuation? For example, dots and question marks?
And I believe it's spelled 'wiccan', not 'wiccian'. As a wiccan, I'd think you'd know. But then, I could be wrong.

Again, no offence, but it just bothers me that a lot of people nowadays just don't seem to bother with proper writing. It's not easier to write (and especially read) like this.

I have a question myself now.

This salt and dirt on the doorstep, what happens if you sweep it all up and plonk it on this woman's own doorstep or just throw it in some remote place?
gypsygrl
dose it mean something different in say a Spanish culture
KyrusRose
Alright, for starters, sulfur itself reacts with water, bubbling would be normal. (Also, wicca is not evil so I don't see how holy water would effect it at all hmm.gif )It MAY have not been sulfur at all, a lot of things smell like sulfur, so it still could have been something else. My suggestion would have been not to touch it, not to put water on it and to save some to be tested by the local high school or collage. Sulfur in wiccan spells is used as a base, not as an evil agent, and when used over doorsteps, its a protective element, just like salt. Of coarse I don't know what the implements of sulfur are in VooDoo but they are likely the same. Salt is a protective agent in wicca and voodoo, its meant to keep evil spirits out.. this can also be done with brick dust. This is a protection spell, as using wicca to harm another is a big no no and really just plane stupid. So the likelihood of someone placing a demon in your home then using the salt or sulfur to keep it in is unlikely.. also.. as soon as the salt or sulfur was removed from the doorstep, it stopped working. So unlikely and ineffective.

Grave Dirt is used as an agent for summoning spirits and protection. Some people claim it can be used for love spells, though I've never believed in love spells, you can't force someone to love you.. maybe notice you though. Such a spell might or might not use grave dirt. Disregard the love spell use.. you have spirits and protection. Using grave dirt to summon a spirit is more for communication then actual haunting, and go GET grave dirt that would work for a spell requires another spell to be preformed on the grave itself, and a favor to be granted to the owner of the dirt (the dead person). Normally this takes weeks to complete and once grave dirt is acquired it is used very sparingly. If it was used to summon a spirit you would have had no more then a pinch, and it would be useless just left there, as once the spell is done the spirit returns to its rest.

Grave dirt for protection is gathered through the same process and is normally held in a pouch carried on the person, as it is used sparingly. dropping a load on a doorstep would have protective ability's, if the right spell was preformed, but again it wouldn't be more then a pinch or a very small handful.

Normal dirt is used in spells, but these are healing or growing spells, not even for protection.

In the end I think maybe your looking at something totally mundane and seeing something sinister, and those thoughts alone can be enough to bring on back luck, bad dreams, sadness.. the mind is a powerful thing. I see no reason what so ever for approaching anyones girlfriend about being a witch and casting spells, you might just make someone mad and have some very real and none magikal problems to deal with. Wicca says "if it harm none, do what you will" (yes I know but I hate old English >.<) so if its a witch trying to cast a harming spell, they're doing it wrong, and STILL going to be punished for trying to hurt someone.

The other aspect is voodoo and I know very little of the religion, you don't live in Louisiana, Mississippi or Florida do you? You would have to talk to someone who knows more about it, but I really don't see why anyone would be bothering you either way.

Good luck, and hope that helped some!!

You may want to search around the home for freshly dug up spots. There may be something buried there you might want to find ASAP.

Hi everyone. I'm knew to this forum, but not this website. Alright, I looked up sulphur images, and it is indeed yellow. So it may be safe to say it IS sulphur. Now all you have to do is go a couple replies above and read what KyrusRose said about it. I hope this helps. I wouldn't think it's anything strange...unless the ex's new woman is wiccan or a voodoo priestess maybe? Dunno hmm.gif

well thats what my sister thinks about this women. not that she's wiccan just that maybe she dabbles or is into black magick whatever it is it's not working. i just talked to my sister and nothing has changed , she is more determined to find out what this is about, and now she thinks this new chick has the man under a spell. idk i think this has all gone to far and she just needs to step back and get a new perspective you know

Agreed.. black magik, under a spell? I'm sorry but I'm a witch and that seems a little extreme to me. In Wicca, magik is only used in the most dire of circumstances, and never for evil.. Voodoo isn't exactly the same, and I think the movies have twisted it to look a lot worse then it is, but yes, you CAN use dark magik in Voodoo, but the priestess will normally only do this to enforce Karma.. to right a wrong. So how about you ask your sister if she might have any guilty secrets, cause with or without the magik, it seems your sister is feeling guilty about something and imagining someone else is getting her back for it. None of the elements you've described are at all malicious in Wicca, though may be in Voodoo, but would not be used unless it was in retaliation for something your sister has done.. look to her for the answer to that one. I really do believe shes over reacting though.. If there are little kids around, it could have been chalk, could have been sand, the smell doesn't mean much and unless she kept some you have no way of knowing what it really was.. and dirt? someone walks in with mud on their shoes, knocks it off on the porch and it drys.. you have dirt.. What in the world made her think it was grave dirt? There are too many mundane reasons for the happenings to jump directly to majik. Its not logical at all. Keep her away from the scary movies *nodnod*.

I've already explained what grave dirt is used for, and normal dirt really wouldn't have any harmful effects. Maybe its a healing spell. Either way, sweeping it away nulled it, and if it doesn't happen again whoever did it in the first place realized its pointless. Still just think shes over reacting.
