A German woman has started a business making clothes for customers from the hair of their pet dogs.

Bettina Menkhoff, 50, from Stoetze in Germany makes scarves, gloves and other clothes and sells them over the internet.

She said: "I got the idea after I bought a pair of socks made from Bobtail-wool. I have four Beardie-Collies myself and started to yarn their hair. It only works when the hair is longer than four centimetres though.

"I regularly brush my dogs and keep the hair for processing. It's warmer than sheep wool."

She added: "The best business though is with customers who send me the hairs of their dog to make clothes for them."

I saw a story a couple of years ago on a woman who collected dog hair from anyone who would give it to her, as well as useing her own dogs hair. She washed and treated it and spun it and would knit all sorts of things with it, and people who saw and touched it said it was soft and warm. some people even had this woman make items from their dead pets hair so they could have a reminder of their pet! Well why not if it,s done right!? It really wouldn,t be that different than sheep, alpaca or any other animals hair would it?

You must have an allergy to it,though some can be very itchy even if your not alergic! But the woman that i saw interviewed said that it wasn,t like wool at all, infact it was almost cashmere soft!
