Everyone in the field of science, astrology, and history keep re-writing our history every day with new discoveries. We keep looking for answers as to who created human beings. Whether you think it's god, or an alien being, I believe that if we finished looking for clues on earth rather than asking for answers in space that we might just find what we are looking for. Think about it, we have a huge part of the ocean still left to explore. We have many places left we have yet to touch on the earth's surface. With technology growing rapidly, I know everntually we'll have it all explored in due time. I just think some of the answers are right here where we stand. With all of these alternative theories, I think the answers will be found here. It won't be a while before we travel to Mars. I think if alien life wanted to contact us, they would have already, and probably would have a long time ago. If they haven't already and it's just kept a secret from us. In my own opinion I think a lot of things that play an important role in our history have been discovered and for good reasons have been kept a secret. Because it's funny how some things are pouring out slowly when important politics dig for the truth.

Just me rambling on, but what do you guys think? We'll find out everything here or be contacted first?

Oh dear. As a historian, I can tell you this simply isn't true. We are learning more, it's true, but to say our academics or their non-professional internet equivalent or even anyone else are "rewriting" history "every day" is vastly over-stating the point, at best.
And -- even as someone who light-heartedly mentioned astrology here the other day -- it's been a good few centuries since many people seriously considered it on par with history and science for finding out about the world around us. You should look up Harte's post on the matter.

We do? I know our fossil record and archeo-anthropology has some gaps, but I think "we" have a pretty good idea where our species comes from.

I definitely disagree with your first half -- no need to posit those things when we can explain the rise of man in purely rational and purely terrestrial terms -- but I do agree with the last half.

I'm with you on this, too.

I think we ought to be careful about using the royal we to express personal opinions. It's fine for the Queen, but muddies the waters of expression, as it were.
And I don't think it's an either/or situation like you present. I don't think we'll ever find out "everything" and I rather doubt we'll be contacted by ETs.

And if we are, they will be just as shocked about our existence as we are about their's.
