What are they? And does anyone on here have one/some?

well, it owuld be something like a guardian angel. they are mostly beings sent by your higher self, so they are part of yourself in some manner. they supposedly look like anything, new age people think of them as animals or mythical creatures, christian as angels, so they doesn't have set look, i guess they would take most appropriate look. i once tried calling it, and got "murky" vision of a duck. i did it mostly because of academic pursuits, so i calmly explained i didn't really need help, just wanted to satisfy my curiosity. again, i may have had some bad trip, i don't put much stock in it

The first time I heard "spirit guide" was out of Sylvia Brown's mouth -- which automatically makes the term suspect. She also went on to say that spirit guides are not angels and can never be an angel. My, that woman knows her heavenly characters.

I've heard mention of it outside of Sylvia Brown. In fact a lot of pastors warn parents to make sure their children aren't contacting their spirit guides because they are supposedly "demonic." However, I don't see how that is so...I have a "spirit guide" (though I wouldn't call him that because he is really just a piece of me and more likely a figment of my imagination.)

hey i'll tell you something about sylvia brown. i might think some of the stuff she says is strange and suspect as you say. but there is one freaky thing she said that i was like WHOA! i was watching montel years and years ago, it was the time when the recount for bush and gore was going on and nobody knew who was going to be president. montel ask her if she knew which one would be president...of course she would not say. but she did say "if bush becomes president something very bad will happen". few months later.......september 11th. i remembered that show when she said that i was like damn.

That's interesting. I was talking to a guy recently who also has a spirit guide. He doesn't think it is part of himself, or at least that's what I take him to be saying.

He sees a specific person, a long-dead person meaningful to him. But he also says that what he sees is not the guide's real form (and here, I am unsure what that real form is like, sorry, and it may be that I am not getting it when he tries to describe it).

I take the guy to be sincere, and believe that he believes what he says. No money is changing hands or anything like that.

And these are probably the stupidest questions of all. What do you say to a spirit guide? What does a spirit guide say to you?

Maybe it's too personal, and if so, I understand. I don't have any experience myself with this sort of thing, which explains, if not excuses, the stupid questions.

Well mine consists of all the knowledge of the supernatural which I hold. Not only that but he increases my physical ability and sensory perception. Meaning that I can sense others who have something or other to do with that which is supernatural. Normally we talk about personal stuff, mostly about my relations with those who also are in the supernatural. He tells me of other beings like himself and their "world" which overlaps but underlies our own. That their involvement in this world is great yet minimal at the same time. He also points out to me when someone has a being or something of the like following them. One other thing he does is increase my ability to perceive future outcomes. For instance I am always prepared for every situation because I am able to calculate every possible outcome and prepare for it. He also gives me a sense of foresight, but I don't usually understand what he's telling me about the future until the event happens. When it does happen though my knowledge of the event is greater than if he had not told me beforehand. However, he is part of me, we share thoughts and his form is that like mine but more so my future self. He's pretty calm and mellow, but he can get passionate and roused.

So Zion.... until 4 months ago you were a devout Christian, verging on the Fundamentalist, then you found Judaism and basically C**p on Christianity at every opportunity, now you are becoming what? A spiritualist? Is your Spirit Guide (I guess he is another new addition to your personalities) a Jew or a Christian? You tell us you are 15 years old do you not think that Hormones are driving your particular beliefs?

If I have a spirit guide I haven't met him yet. I know that God sends his angels down to earth to help mankind in certain situations and such. Who knows, that homeless man I could of given money too on the side of the street could of been an angel in disguise, I certainly would never know they are a bit more clever than us.

I think I have several. They are spirits who are my friends in another dimension. They come to me in different forms, but I know each one by the way the behave and how they help me. Maybe they are all in my head, but I like to think of them as my buddies form another realm.

A demonic spirit guide? God truly does work in mysterious ways.. ; ) So much fear is delivered from a pulpit...

"...something bad will happen." is so generic that it could've meant anything. Like stealing the victory from Gore, for example... Bad for Gore, good for the Bushwacker...

What you describe is a lot like what the other guy I mentioned describes, except for whether it's coming from you or from outside.

And Darkwind, you're open to either possibility, plus you have a chorus, not just one. I need to think some more about what that would be like.

If you are open and you ask them all the time to talk to you, they might. Often it is as you fall asleep, you can hear them calling your name. Try it, it's great! It's happened to me a couple of times after I've asked for it. Some people say they are the cause of seeing numbers like 11:11, etc, I've yet to verify that one.

And more than likely the egyptians were right.

Spirit Guides are just that -your spirit guide/s.

Just a little background - my family are not religious people, we do not practice religion of any sorts.

My mother has a spiritual guide - he is Indian ( from India ). My father has a lady which he calls the lavender lady because he can smell the lavender purfume when she is around him.

My Aunt has a few spiritual guides and has said that that my great Aunt from my fathers side of the family is mine.
I have not experienced my guide/s personally but, if I feel emotionally drained or if there is something that is really troubling me I ask them to help me and give me strength. Strangely I find that in a few days I feel so much better and can see things from a different light.

My grandparents on both sides have passed away and I usually ask my grandmother (on my fathers side) for help as well.

Your guides will come to you when you are ready to see them and will come to you in the form of something that you are comfortable to see. Until you are ready they will not show themselves to you - so my aunt says.

Recently I asked this question of why I cannot see them or be aware of them. She said it was because I am not ready. I said (in a whinny voice) but I want to see them...My Aunt then asked me if I saw a spirit would I freak out..........the answer to that .......If I was honest........yes indideedoo. Therefore answering my own question. I am not ready to see them yet.
That doesn't mean that they are not there.

I am still what I am. And I have only one personality. I don't know about the whole bashing Christianity thing...I wouldn't call telling the Truth bashing.

How do you know these spirit guides arent lying to you?. What ways do you have to discern that these "guides" arent something else?

Spiritual Guides are real, and they are around you 24/7. Each one of us, has atleast 1 guide.

I agree. We have alot more than just Spirit Guides around us. I consider Guides and Angels as 2 separate entities with different jobs. My grandmother is one of my guides ever since she passed away. On the other hand, my Guardian Angel has been with me since birth. I talk to my Angel all the time, but not to my Guides. They visit me while sleeping as to the Angel talks anytime. This may not apply to everyone though.
