i am just asking for your opinions, thats all to it. Do you or Have you ever considered MTV satanic or evil or a bad influence?

reason: simple, am 18; am certainly not hooked into MTV. but every1 else is? why? i watch it too, i don find it anything soo fantastic about people doing amazing sh**ty stuff! or SINS.

i personally believe MTV, is corrupt. influence is the major factor involved in here. afterall its teenagers that are hooked into it. with a huge fan base or audience base, isn't it easy to destroy culture, insert new ideas, sub-consciously brainwash? if we analysis the content of this media, is SEX, MUSIC, DANCE, HUMOR. all of which we are natually inclined towards. musics may contain sub-limal (or smth like tat i cant spell for nuts!~ hidden messages) in songs, and songs themselves can be very influencive if listened to many times, sex is almost every where ( not that they show that, the content is implying such messages across eg: lookin at too many melons!)

all i am tryin to say is, i thing MTV is really the ULTIMATE TOOL of media, which caries power to influence. be it good or bad, just like advertisments.

MTV is a music channel in my opinion and nothing else. I do not believe it is corrupt nor do I believe there is any brainwashing involved.

MTV is so popular simply because people love music, it is just like a radio but with pictures included.

Subliminal messages, in the UK, were made illegal many years ago and if they were still found to be in use I am sure that big lawsuits would be happening.

The only reason it is so popular is nothing to do with corruption or brainwashing, it is just that, as I stated, people just love music - teenagers included. Subliminal messages could happen anywhere if someone got it into their heads to do it, CDs, DVDs, commercials, movies, TV programmes, music downloaded onto i-pods etc.

Sunday religious programing, that's something that is truly evil.

Bad influence. Has gotten better though. Was much more raunchy and purposely pushing the social limits in the 90's. Calmed down since. Gotten back more to the music.

That's what religion does.

MTV is just a music channel that entertains people by giving them what they want, which happens to just be sex, music, dance and humor... MTV shows the things it does because people want it, otherwise they'd be bankrupt. Bands and shows do no shape the world, they are but a mere reflection of what people really want and feel like...

MTV, as far as I know, is just a music channel. Up here not as many people watch it, but watch the Canadian equivalent which is Much Music. But in my opinion, both suck. Now, they only play the mainstream pop and rap garbage which listening to it is like chewing on a mouth-full of nails. But that's just my opinion.

So if MTV is an evil channel, would that mean only religious channels are acceptable? That would not only be boring, but unfair to people with different tastes in music. It's what you do with the music that makes it good or bad.

The only MTV shows I watch are Punk'd, Room 401, and TRL. I don't think it's anything evil but it's definitely a bad influence on today's culture.

I would say that they are a "bad influence." Because of the stuff they air on the channel. They where okay in the 90's. But now they're not.

Plus, I don't watch it anymore.

Well,......... The music is pretty good but the almost naked women could do with a good roast dinner and some clothes.

Other than that, Jackass and all that are pretty good.

MTV evil please it simply appeals to the stupid like those who watch Jackass or anything with a spoiled rich girl in it etc. I mean hell they rarely ever play music anymore like WTF man! To make it simple MTV is stupid and it's viewers are stupid I need TV that is more 'intellectually rich' then stupid MTV because I am not STUPID!!!!!

If people are influenced by sh**ty music and sh**ty and totally unfunny shows then so be it. I can hardly blame MTV for the dumbing of kids and place more of the blame of a corrupt government combined with a broken education system.

MTV is evil, in that people who have terrible tastes in music and have a bad sense of humor are keeping this embarrassment of the current generation on the air.

MTV is evil in that it helps lower the standards of the Earth and makes people think it's acceptable to listen to bands like Creed and the Backstreet Boys.

Not satanic, just stupid.

I don't see much satanic stuff on it, I only watch it for stuff like South Park, Dirty Sanchez, Scarred and stuff, for music I put a rock channel on.

In the 90's MTV (especially MTV2) was strongly pushing an "alternative life style" agenda. They had many soap-opra-style programs that were in-your-face with teens and early 20's kids living the "alternative life style". Many times they seemed to be just one step short of a soft-porn flick! And they weren't playing these shows late at night either.

I'll leave it to others to decide if that constitutes being satanic. But IMO it certainly was a very bad influence at the least!!

MTV isn't satanic, but a lot of the music on it sounds like garbage to me.
I go for real artistic and musical quality even if I have to listen to another country's music for it.
(Not saying American music sucks, but the stuff that's easy to find tends to...)

You should really watch what you say, cause smart people DO watch MTV. I'm sure you don't know every single person on Earth who watches it.

No because I don't associate myself with stupid people. I have never met a smart person that watches MTV just people that think they are smart.

^No just people who YOU think, think they are smart. Generalisations and stating opinion and belief as fact removes all credibility any argument has. While I dont watch MTV and find many of its shows rather silly, generalising that all shows on that channel and all their viewers are stupid is incorrect and unjustified. We all have our own preferences when it comes to all forms of media and just because you find a particular genre, channel, movie, show etc.... stupid, does not make it so.

Smart people prefer intellectually rich content and stupid people prefer intellectually devoid content it's as simple as that. Like seriously Punk'd, Jackass, and whatever else is flavor of the week is just plain old stupid. What smart people would watch such absurd television? All their shows are stupid and meant for the uneducated American teen as hard as it is for you to accept maybe it takes cynics like me to set them straight as opposed to being nice.

I stand by my statements and in my opinion they are justified whether or not you believe so or not.

Yes, mostly every channel is ungodly, its all sinful, it all promotes sin, MTV is only one of the channels, if you know what sin and iniquity is you should watch a show and tally how many times someone did anything unrighteous and wasn't corrected. Then you'll know or have a visual of how evil the show is and the fact that it is promoting it and the social norm. OH, another thing look at the shows that are supposedly innocent or geared towards kids, they are just as sinful as any other show or movie. sin is sin no matter what, all sin leads to death. I find that the more you watch these shows that have no regard for righteousness, you'll start becoming immune to it and start doubting your faith, and you will slowly but surely become just the same and you won't even know what hit you.

To live is to die. In the end, the worst of "sinners" and the most devout of christians will all be in the same place.

That little bit of off-topicness aside; I haven't been able to watch television since I moved to my new house a few months back. I don't miss it.
My mother turns the radio on every now and then, and assuming that what plays constantly on the radio is also on MTV at the time, gosh it sucks.
I'm really sick of all the little-to-no-talent "rock" bands who get so popular on catchyness alone.

Satanic? No. Promoting a relatively awful taste in music? Yes.

The only thing slightly entertaining they've made the last ~10 years is Jackass, and that was only funny because watching stupid people doing stupid things while thinking they are cool is pretty much always entertaining.

Crappy, not Satanic. My only problem is the M standing for Music when all they air is reality TV, crappy fake dating shows, and other shows. Even when they do play music it's your typical bubblegum stuff.

MTV was the greatest channel when I was growing up, showing a wide variety of videos. I might not liked everything but it was always on my tv. I would love for MTV in america to show some great videos from the band Nightwish! everytime I've tried to watch the channel it was some lame game show or reality show or some crap. Anyone remember when they had that video special with comedians making fun of really old 80s vidoes, then Vanilla ice got mad about how they made fun of him and destroyed the set with a bat?

I think it's evil. It stands no justice to "what music is" and certainly just follows what gets views for their ratings. Music isn't about pointless commercials and dumb reality shows. Isn't music what Music Television(MTV) stands for? They failed once with MTV, then again with MTV2. Nevertheless the huge biased towards genres.
