Just a bit of fantasy and fun! If you met a crazy scientist who invented a time machine but could only send you to one point in time would you-

a ) go back or forward?

b ) what exact time would you visit?

I have thought about it many times (when day dreaming at work) and I cant decide! It would be great to travel maybe 50 or 60 years in the future to see what differences there are in the world as I know it but imagine travelling 2000 or 3000 years in the future! Or even travelling back to the begining of time and thinking 'ah so thats how it happened'!

p.s you can spend a day in this period and your safe return is guaranteed or your money back wink2.gif

^I'd stay clear of doing anything like that, I mean you might mess up the universe or something spooky like that hehe tongue.gif

But seriously, it's a good question.. I'd give it alot of thought if I actually had the possibility, I mean it's really a once in a lifetime experience..

I think I'd either go for a time in the past I haven't experienced, or a time in the future I couldn't possibly live to experience..

Of course, if I traveled back in time, but to a time in my life, I'd be able to change some stuff, but it could have a butterfly effect so my life would be messed up..

And if I traveled forward in time, to see what would happen to me in, say, ten years, I'd be pretty confused when I traveled back.. I mean, should I try to make choices, that would make me end up in whatever position I'd seen myself in, and if not, what would happen if I made a choice that would make it physically impossible for me to end up in that position (fx if I had seen myself as a football player, I could like cut off my legs or something lol).. would I even be able to do that, or would some unknown law of physics stop me, thus making me become a football player whether I wanted to or not?

So with all that in mind, I'd definately not visit a time where I existed (at least not to change anything).. I think it'd be cooler to travel back in time to investigate what really happened in different scenarios - did we go to the moon? who killed kurt cobain? and what about john f kennedy?

Or maybe I would just end up traveling forward in time one week, getting the numbers for the lottery, travel back and win the big prize... Not the most interesting choice, and I'd probably feel that I'd wasted the opportunity when I realized that money wasn't as great as I'd thought...

but hey, with all that money I could probably buy a new time machine haha!

Getting next weeks lottery numbers would have to be the best choice

i got it i would go back and punch hitler

Really good question..
It would be hard with only one day in the time period, maybe a week... but if we stick to the original question and have one day -

I think I would go to the future. Reason being... enough of history has been well enough documented, that with enough time and research, you could possibly recreate almost any historic event with a large percentage of accuracy..

I would love to see what the world would be like in 1000 years. Have we had alien contact? Has the human race been decimated? Have we become a peaceful/prosperous people ala Star Trek? Are we traveling around space?

Those are things I would love to know.

I'd probably travel to the future to see what technology was developed.

For me, two specific times come to mind. The first one would be before my best friend died. The second would be to find Jack the Ripper.
Mr.Dot
I think i would travel back one week or so and play the lottery $_$

But to see the far future would be tempting too. What about one million years from now on? But i guess this would be a hard choice to choose because the future is so uncertain mellow.gif

I'd go back before you made this thread, and make it myself, 'cause it's really interesting and I'd love to get credit for it haha tongue.gif

i'd go back one week in the past, win the lottery, THEN i make a second one and a third one, one to see the beginning of the world, the next to see what happens in year 5000. or 4000. =)

If I got to return then I would go into the future to get the inside scoop on whats in store. If I had to stay in the new time I would go into the past to inform myself about the opportunity so I could spend more time thinking about it and have a semi clone and so I could figure out how to harness the ability to travel in time.
