Hello there - I am new here and just wanted to write about something strange that happened to me yesterday.
Upon waking, in the first few minutes, I had a song playing in my head - "A Whole New World" from the Disney movie "Alladin". Even as it was playing in my head, I kept thinking of how strange it was since I had not heard it recently or seen that movie. After a few minutes, I got up and forgot about it for the rest of the morning.
At work, I was given a project to do that I normally wouldn't have to take care of -- one piece of the project was to make a phone call to a 20 year old boy who had been a winner on one of our TV shows -- he won some big money and I had to phone him to get some details so he could get paid. I dialed the number and instead of ringing I heard a song playing. Yep, the song was "A whole New World". (I guess you can download songs to your cell phone and set it so that when someone calls you, they hear the song instead of ringing).
I hung up immediately and asked my co-worker to make the call for me. Nothing bad came of it - she made the call and that was the end of it.
I haven't been able to get this out of my head. Has this ever happened to anyone before? what could it be?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you so much.

Hi, Sullengirl. Welocme to the forum.
May I ask why you were reluctant to complete the call yourself? Did your co-worker get the same song?

Hello Eightbits -- my first instinct was to hang up the phone when I heard the song play -- I guess I was just that freaked out about it. Yes, my co-worker heard the same song when she rang him.
Does it not seem odd?

It is odd for sure, but its sort of the same thing as waking up and thinking of someone, then they call, or thinking of a movie, and next thing it's on. These things can and do happen. One morning I woke and remembered dreaming of 4 numbers, and they were in my head all day, so played the Daily numbers game and won. These are things that just come to us, out of the blue. I would not be worried, as #1 it could have been a coincidence #2 you had a precognitive experience, and that is pretty cool..

Hi, again (and hi, JustNormal, too).
Thanks for answering.
I can understand that your experience might "rattle" you, but everything about it seems natural and unthreatening. It was a friendly phone call, and it is a nice song, too.
The flow of events maybe took you "off guard," and that happens to everyone once in a while.
Your sharing of an event like this helps everyone here "calibrate" their sense of what the "background" level of unusual happenings is like.
You might seriously consider keeping a journal, like some people's dream journals, for a few weeks. That way, you can keep track of those fleeting impressions, and come to your own conclusions about where they might fit into the larger scheme of things.
Nice to meet you.

Yes and no - it's a neat coincidence that it happened and it might mean something to you. But "A whole new world" is one of those songs I think we have all heard, it has a catchy little chorus, and a easily remembered musical score. It's not strange you might have it going through your head.
For instance, I woke up this morning with "Tainted Love" going through my head. I think it's annoying, but I'm not gonna assign a paranormal reason to it...
