UNION CITY, Ga. - A McDonald's employee spent a night in jail and is facing criminal charges because a police officer's burger was too salty, so salty that he says it made him sick.
Kendra Bull was arrested Friday, charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct and freed on $1,000 bail.
Bull, 20, said she accidentally spilled salt on hamburger meat and told her supervisor and a co-worker, who "tried to thump the salt off."
On her break, she ate a burger made with the salty meat. "It didn't make me sick," Bull told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
But then Police Officer Wendell Adams got a burger made with the oversalted meat, and he returned a short time later and told the manager it made him sick.
Bull admitted spilling salt on the meat, and Adams took her outside and questioned her, she said.
"If it was too salty, why did (Adams) not take one bite and throw it away?" said Bull, who has worked at the restaurant for five months. She said she didn't know a police officer got one of the salty burgers because she couldn't see the drive-through window from her work area.
Police said samples of the burger were sent to the state crime lab for tests.
City public information officer George Louth said Bull was charged because she served the burger "without regards to the well-being of anyone who might consume it."

When I finished reading this I at first thought, allergic reaction, but then the cop would have told them no salt and pepper...The manager should have gotten rid of the meat when they made the mistake. I'd say the cop went a little too far, and the judge was rediculous to lock her up...

This was my first thought! Was he too stupid after taking one bite not to figure out it was too salty and go get another burger? And then arresting the poor girl and making her spend a night in jail? And wasting lab time when he already knows what the problem was? Talk about abuse of power! I hope she sues him for false arrest! This is just epic stupidity!

I don't care if you do or not. You're entitled to your opinion.
I am also entitled to mine. Mine opinion is based on experience. My dad was a police officer who put his life on the line every single day. He pulled a guy over once who just had expired tags. The guy had just had an argument with his wife and beat the crap out of her and thought he was getting pulled over for that. Before my dad could get all the way to this scum's car he pulled a gun and shot my dad in the stomach.
He was just doing his job, one of many because it didn't pay enough to support 4 kids.
Now you know why I think you're comment sucks.

The times have changed but a policeman's and firefighter's jobs haven't. Everytime they get a call they put their life on the line..And yes, I have read of police abuse, but adults and especially teenagers don't have the respect for these people, as we did back in 1993 and before that...In whatever emergencies I have had, they have been their for us....In another thread you called them "Pigs"...Let me ask you a question...If someone in your family had to call them, for whatever reason, would you answer the door with "Hey pig, bout time you got here"...It's a rude expression and uncalled for...Think about it...

Respect or no respect I think the important thing here is that the cop was an idiot the situation was stupid and the judge was stunned. One bite and anyone would know something was up, if he didn't figure it out until he wolfed down the whole burger then he should have his sidearm confiscated for everyone's safety.

As far as I'm concerned there always were bad cops, and always will be bad cops. Cops were much worse from the 70s-90s than they are now.
But there are bad people in all professions in all parts of the world, pretty silly to go around calling cops pigs and saying that you hate them. They are required almost everywhere. And I know enough good cops to make up for the bad ones.

The boss should be the one arrested. I mean she tried to cover it up.
The woman they arrested did what she was told to, and told her boss. Who should have gotten rid of the ruined burgers.

uhhhhh nobody should have been arrested, it wasn't a crime, it was an error in judgement on both sides, the restaurant side for not disposing of the food and the cops side for being stupid enough to eat the whole thing THEN complain. And no ethyl im not trying to get a rise or anything I'm simply stating that when cops are bad then thts REALLY bad because of the office they hold. Stop seeing insult where it is not.

Its like comparing a a rent a cop to a real cop. If a renta cop abuses his authority its ussually small time and petty. But the abuse by a real officer of the law is exponentially worse. The office he represents is a pillar of civilized society and any abuse of it undermines the whole concept unfortunately. Its like the service industry says "one person will tell one other person about the good food and service they recieved somewhere" whereas "one person will tell ten people about the bad experience they had at a restaurant" People carry ill news quicker than they carry good news, its a sad fact of life. Everybody wants to be the victim.

THis makes no sense - McDonals doesn't have hamburger "meat" where a "batch" of meat could get salt in it. The burgers come frozen in large rolls of individual pattys. At no time in the food preparation does a McDonald's employee sprinkle salt on the food. There aren't even salt shakers back in the grill or food preparation area.
This person was lying. If she had salt back near the grill (the only place where multiple burger pattys could ever be "accidentaly" salted) then she was already dead wrong.
It is obvious she saw the cop, went to a storeroom where the large containers of salt used to fill the salt shakers are stored and got a bunch of it and dumped it in his burger.
She is a liar and I hope she loses everything.

What if she dumped a tablespoon of salt in the center of the burger? The cop would get all of the salt in the final bite.
Read my previous reply so you understand what is going on.
I am amazed that you think eating a tainted bite of meat that happens to be the last bite of a burger is worse than trying to poison someone.

to be fair, i can't see anything in the article that says he ate the entire hamburger..and if i was a cop, in uniform, i'd be a little more than wary when something went wrong with my food.

Its too bad that fast-food workers are generally treated so poorly; perhaps they would try a little harder to please their cliental if they weren't constantly bludgeoned..
It must be difficult for some college or high school student to take his job seriously when there's guy with no teeth in a filthy shirt sputtering out sentence fragments in a vain attempt to insult the fast-food industry.
Or the really old men that get a kick out of screaming at the 15-year-old taking his order....
