OK, I came in late to a topic, and read a few posts, and some of it was hysterical!

OK, so, my request would be, create a separate Forum for closed topics, because sometimes, they are the best! Obviously some are just stupid and rude, but sometimes they make a lot of sense, or degrade into the funniest crap I have ever seen.

Are you talking about a separate forum just to read them...Obviously if there closed, you can't answer, so what's the point...They're closed because they go against UM's rules....

I have a suggestion, take 6 bucks a month, a copy of Frontpage, download some public domain forum software and continue closed discussions there. Would probably be one of the most visited sites.... until you get sued for slander.

Actually, alot of them aren't funny...they lead into arguments between members...opinions don't matter...ego does...

I,ve been able to understand why most of the threads that were closed were, but there was one a while back i couldn,t figure it out as there was no fighting,name calling or sexual content! It was just a lot of people yapping about funny things, laughing and getting to really know each other and then bang it was closed! I thought what a shame, sometimes the silly banter back and forth really helps us to understand each other and you get to know people through their goofy humor and feel more at ease with them! I was sad to see it closed!

I'd rather see them dwindle away. The majourity of topics closed (or so it seems, other than topics started to boost posting count) are because of rude, hateful comments that are made. There's no reason in keeping that negativity around no matter how 'funny' they may be.

half of the closed topics are veeeeeeeerrrrrrrrry rude, the others are just plain funny!!!!!!!!! i wish they only closed down the rude ones and the ones that have gone on for toooo long.

I'm sorry, but that comment Pandora made nearly had me blow snot on my monitor, and I so wished I could have responded on that ON that thread. Sometimes the most entertaining ones get shut down...

The Jesus is a carrot or an apple threads should be closed but they never are! Or how about the Pacman thread?! Why some threads are closed and some remain open is a real mystery to me. I've seen truly bizzare, silly threads remain open while others with a few rude comments closed. Honestly, THAT is the greatest mystery i have seen here at UM.

Right swtp, that's the type I'm referring to. They always start out serious, but soon degrade to insane HARMLESS banter. Those are pretty funny, and I just thought it would be cool to have a compilation of them.

Like the time I called Silver Cougar a baby-eater!

She took it a lot worse than it was intended (sensitive pagans...who knew!?), and I got an angry PM from someone that said I owed him a keyboard (coffee out the nose FTW!)

......and as an answer to swtp, the silly threads are closed because this board offers two other outlets for its members to 'get to know each other better'. Unrestricted 'bantering' can be had either in personal blogs or the chat room. The forums main purpose is to provide a venue for those who seek mostly serious discussions on a wide variety of topics. There is a 'general off-topic' section which allows a bit more leniency in its subjects, but there is still a requirement for productive and sensible contributions.
