i have my own beliefs so remember, i am not looking for you to tell me what to do. I am only interested in what you believe prayer is and can do for you.
Thank you.

Personally, I believe prayer is similiar to affirmations/magick/mass consciousness experiments. I believe that if you believe in something enough, you can change it (whether it be a spell bringing you a new job or a prayer making you better). I just think that it truly depends on what your belief system is. So if you don't believe prayer will work, then it won't, and if you believe it will work, then it will. If you think magick is more effective, then for you it will. I think I'm making sense. If I'm not, I apologize.
Either way, I think it can work if you put enough intent behind it. :-)
Great topic!

The greatest prayer is silence, I believe, but I'm not completely in that space since I have desires and wants, bills to pay, dreams to achieve, etcetera, etcetera. Besides, I have never spoken to God to really know His (or Her) will, to truly follow the "Thy will be done."
Perhaps when I and the rest of the world stop praying, God might decide to show Himself (or Herself). Perhaps praying is the main reason why God is NOT experienced first hand. The mind is so busy jockeying for mere crumbs... But, "that's okay, It's meant to be, there are no mistakes, nothing is wasted, one thing leads to another," so people say. We take what we could take, and be VERY grateful about whatever that's been given. "One step at a time." Besides, we live in a perfect world-machinery, created by God, after all.

Don't know what to say about it much, but It does work for me. I used to be amazed at its powers, but the wow factor fades slowly, and it becomes like an extension of your own earthly powers, like reaching out with your hands, but it still is an amazing thing.

The power of a positive outlook and courage has been proven. If you get there by prayer I don't see a problem with that.

I'm not what you would call a positive outlooker, in fact I am a notorious pessimist at times

... It works... I'm not sure whether a' knowingness'...an increased intuitive feeling... that your 'will' is to be answered ...and thanking God in advance......or as it is being answered is very important... this attitude does seems to connect with the manisfestations.... like an energetic link to you wishes... that you drag towards you...
Is it a byproduct of the energetic connection to Faith??? the
wish ...or prayer is like activating the Hope...
In the Conversations With God series..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conversations_With_God. God is mentioned as insisting that it is important to take the first baby steps towards your prayer dream.. to help it manifest..... It's like tagging it..in faith that this prayer will manifest in the best way for you...
I don't like the insistance that all events... challenges in life are lessons to help you evolve... as it so seems like you are trying to make up something... that your life is a spiritual "time out!!!"...
..LOL !!!

... I could't have been that bad in my past lives.,..!!!!

Wow! I was going ot post something similar, but was kind of 'iffy' on the reception. Prayer, meditation, magic, if you really look closely, you will notice there is a similarity in all of them.

Positive as in a "can do" attituded. Like a person just diagnosed with cancer believing they can and will survive it for at least 5 years.
The power of the mind over the body has long been established. A good outlook has been proven to help (at least with medical issues). If faith is the tool that helps a person concentrate on that positive outlook and gives them hope go for it!

I know that without my faith and the power of prayer i most deffinatly would be dead right now! And if by some chance i were still alive, my life and thinking would be so very messed up without prayer! God and prayer is the ONLY way i get through each day! For me without those in my life, nothing else matters and i only find value in anything because of those beliefs!

Yea, that's what I mean. People usually are the ones who try to convince of that "I can do something if I try", but I'm notorious at
considering myself weaker than most humans, mentally weaker that is, and lacking energy and ability to get anything done.
If I did get cancer, I would surely die.
Though I feel at times that destiny is "dragging me along", because I'm actually pretty successful at anything I do, and my
fears actually never come true. I used to think it was because I was still a kid, or a teenager, but as I grew, it started to look like a pattern.

I love praying. I don't think I've ever been as close to God as I am when I pray. It strengthens my faith, along with asking for divine intervention for the people and situations I pray for.

When I was younger, I prayed all the time. Maybe 100x more than I do now. Possibly because when I lived with my mother, I didn't question my faith with the wholeheartedness I do now. Sometimes I still "talk" to God. Usually I don't feel very connected when I do, as I hardly feel like he's listening. But I have to admit, there have been quite a few times lately, that I knew God was listening. It has strengthened me lately. But yes, I wholly agree with prayer. You just have to really want the connection, this is my own lesson learned. Whether you pray at an alter, with beads, with incense...yes, I believe in prayer.
