What was she thinking? Something really terrible must have happened for the mother to have made such a bad decision. I stop at crossings whether or not, the lights are all go. Never have I taken such a risk with my children.

i stop at long distance. i've seen motocycle crushed by train n i don't want to see it again.

That's so sad. Two little girls, 11 and 8, wiped out for the sake of saving a few minutes on a journey. I wonder if the mother really was racing to get over the track or just didn't realise. I couldn't imagine a mother taking a risk like that with even just herself in the van, let alone her 4 kiddies. Imagine having to live with that.

As i watched the video the thought that came to me was that it almost looks like she,s trying to race the train to get in front of it! Does anyone think this woman might have been TRYING to kill herself and her children? Cause thats what it looks like to me!

Nothing in the world is worth dying for! That woman had alot to live for.It is really stupid, stupid thing to do. For one, her children & friend probably too. As for speeding. It not worth that either. A train isn't really on it tracks when it runs & when it has to stop really fast it can't b/c the weight of the train keep it moving. I can't believe that some people don't know this. I always stop for cars & trucks & trains at a stop sign or lights.

Freakin idiot.. I can't imagine how anyone would think they could beat 2 trains like that.. she very well could have had a death wish...

This woman couldnt have not seen those trains, or at least the closer one. I do feel for her in that she does have to live with this situation.

Duty Of Care, the saftey of your kids Is what comes first. Common knowleged, Motherly instinct, sanity.

The speed she was going made it seem like she was running from something, the only explaination I can come up with is that the only way, "If it be a mistake" that this could happenwas if she was actually running scared of something.

I agree, either she was so scared of something that she felt was a bigger threat than an oncomming train, or she was in some mental or emotional crises that made her want to kill herself and her children! whatever the case she will have to live with and answer for it, if she survives? I,m just so amazed the other kids were ok and released from hospital! That anyone survived being hit by two trains is amazing!

My god what the hell was she thinking? Did she honestly think that she could get past trains going the opposite directions? I feel sorry for the loss of the kids but in the end, it all comes down to her own stupidity.

That poor family...How could that mother have possible been in the right state of mind to do something so horrible...I personally am deathly afraid of train tracks...I don't care if the train is two miles away, as soon as I hear the beeping, I stop, and yet there are some idiots who pass me just as the gates are starting to come down...

I once saw two girls on either side of a stopped train as they waited for it to go by. Then they talked with each other and apparently agreed to crawl through between the cars so they wouldn't have to wait and sure enough the train continued just as they were climbing on it. They each then jumped for their lives and tumbled to the ground. After having a good laugh about it the girls, who were strangers to each other, went their own ways but i could see the fright on one of the girls faces knowing she was lucky to be alive.

It looks like not many people have common sense anymore. I rather sit & wait for the train to pass.

Have these people learn never go against a train. It always wins.

I agree with those that say she wanted to die... I am sorry but anyone with 1% common sense would not have tried to outrace that train. Maybe if it was still far away but she was right next to the thing! Did she really now think that she would beat it?????

I wonder if anyone has talked to the sons and figured out why she did that. I can't imagine a mother doing that with four of her kids in the car unless there was some type of emergency that she had to get across those tracks and couldn't stop to wait for the trains. I want a reason, even if it is just that she made a horrible decision.
