To all who care and those who don't,

My name is Rich Giordano. Some of you may know me and my website cnufos.com over the last 3 yrs. I am writing this tonight/today to let some of you know why and how people try to fake their UFO videos.

The first Episode I reveal a very disturbing secret about 2 of my videos placed on You Tube. The secret was that I placed 2 videos on You Tube and said they were genuine I captured. What you didn't know was that I was working on a social experiment to see how people respond to these videos and then reveal a short time later that I did the experiment revealing the whole video. But something strange happened when I placed the second video on You Tube. I called it "Possibly one one of the best UFO fleets captured on video" and away it went. In 3 days the video received over 30K views with all sorts of wonderful comments and some evil. That's You Tube! But what happened to me never happened before when one of my videos got thousands of hits like this fleet video. I got addicted to the attention and decided not to tell the truth about the video hoping it would get thousands of visitors to my website as well. It sure did. Over 4 months I received almost 190,000 views and hundreds of new visitors to my site. But it was all wrong. A fake video is causing a great buzz in the UFO community and my local paper did an article about me because of it. But I was screaming inside to tell everyone it wasn't real that it was just paper caught in an updraft.

For those of you who know me, know that I am a hardcore debunker for the last 18 months. I learned all the tricks of the trade through trial and error and the usage of many cameras to see how each one works differently. I did over 30 balloon tests trying to debunk actual fleets and other supposed UFOs caught on tape. I went after several people and debunked them to the point that I received death threats and things of that nature. It was horrible. So for me to place a video on You Tube with good intentions knowing it was fake how could I possibly be taken seriously as a debunker if I lied about 2 of my own videos?

So last week I came clean and told the truth on my radio show and then placed 2 episodes on my new You Tube channel showing the unedited footage while explaining how and why I did what I did. I risked everything I built up as a credible skywatcher and researcher for the last 3 yrs but a funny thing happened after I told the truth. People were proud of me for being honest and praised me for taking such a risk. At first these people were pissed but eventually gave me another chance.

The reason I tell you this is because I had no intentions to lie but for a few days to do this social experiment and got addicted to the little bit of fame that came with the fleet video. Hell I could have said nothing, no-one would have known, and I would still be getting over 1,500 views a day on that video. I lost over 100 visitors to my site because I took down the You Tube channel "CNUFOSDOTCOM" which brought me many curious UFO seekers. I am paying the price now but in the long run it will be back to normal because I did the right thing in telling the truth.

I want people to know that it can happen to anyone. But how many people have done what I done and admitted it later and survivied? I don't know anyone do you? The thing with me is I am known as a "tell it like it is type of person" and I didn't tell it like it was with those 2 videos all because of a few thousand views on my You Tube channel? What an idiot. So I took the whole channel down and built CNUFOSTV to tell the truth. I couldn't live with myself even though it was only 2 out of many videos which are real.

CNUFOSTV is going to be a show about me, my experiences in UFOlogy, my videos and the gossip I hear through the many emails I get from all my sources. CNUFOSTV is a show about the truth and telling it like it is without worrying about hurting anyone's feelings. I will do anything for the truth.

How in the hell can you call yourself a UFOlogist if you're also a hardcore debunker? That's like saying you're a mechanic with clean hands, or a doctor with a phobia for blood.

Just seems odd to me. I just can't wrap my head around someone who says he studies something he doesn't believe in at all [because that's exactly what a hardcore debunker is, unless you meant a skeptic].

I get so confused with the amount of false sightings that get posted on the net, these people have nothing better to do or what? All it does is waste everybody's time including their own. So why bother? I have seen more than a few in my life some were from earth but others were not and these are highly magical things that have no explanation at all. If you filmed one, there would be no way that anyone could proclaim them fake anyway.
I can only imagine that the person that believes in a faked ufo simply has not come into contact with such a thing and doesn't know the difference in the first place.
You at least have been honest and I respect that. But what a crap idea to post a fake and see the reaction, when its so obvious that that would be the reaction. Eighty per-cent or more of all the videos and info, are bull stories that are shadowing the real truth and you as a person involved in debunking and investigating should already know that. Thank you for coming clean, I admire you for this, you got my respect. Don't mind some of the other comments since some of them are just off the role, I'm sure you know wich ones I'm talking about.

Yet I think that what you did before was wrong, please don't post fake videos, that fools the UFO community totally. I want to see real evidence for once in my life, and I'm sure many other would like that too ( Although I am what some call, a "skeptic"). Most of the evidence I have seen is fake, yes I have recognized them and only a rough percent of them made me think and wonder.

People everyday who have really seen things are cruely treated and its people like you and stuff like this that makes it easy for all the nonthinking dunder heads to poke fun at them. Oh looks like someone's day dreams just went down the hill, I'm so sorry for you. What he did was tell the truth, it trashed your day dreams I know, but the truth is the truth, and that's what many believers find hard to find and accept. The only nonthinking dunder heads are the ones that believe everything they see ( wich are many, and he proved it) without actually thinking on it.... , this is what the UFO community is mostly made off. And they do not make fun of them, they just knock them back to reality. Actually what he has done is a total knock back to reality.

If it weren't for people like this guy, everyone in the world would think we were under constant attack by aliens or gods or something. We would continue to let our imaginations run wild. Unfortunately, social experiments are a pretty important part of research in certain types of fields. I immediately got this usual gut feeling of "What a bast***". Then as usual I came to my senses seconds later. All this guy is doing is HELPING people see what to pay attention to so that we can learn how to spot a real unidentified flying "object". Hes showing us what we can be mistaken about because at times, thats exactly what happens. We just mistake things.

Things like this though would in no way ever make me believe that there are still no UFO"s around because frankly put, extraterrestrial or not, there are things that are unidentified. Even objects like what he used can still be considered unidentified. Its only unidentified because we cant tell what it is. The moment we know... its no longer a UFO. It just becomes a FO. And when / if we some day have aliens come landing on the planet and saying "HI EVERYONE!", where are all the UFO's gonna be then? I bet we may still have some. ; )

The hardest thing to remember about that term for most people who are just every day joes not out trying to constantly catch these on videos has got to be the instant connection of UFO with Aliens. Your adrenalin gets going, heart pounding, totally wondering what something is. I have been there. I really really have. I have had that adrenaline going. And while you may not know... it may still be something entirely earthly. Thats all hes really trying to point out I think. I find nothing wrong with this other then he let it go a little longer then he should have even by his own statements. He came clean though, and hopefully he never does that again. (getting sucked into the hype that is)

Personally id work with anyone just trying to find out what any unidentified object is. I just want an answer and while the answer may be at times things I dont want to hear, its a reality I have to accept.

Second anyone who does somethhing to make others look like a fool for either their own enjoyment or their own personal gain is not a very good person. The only people who would think what he did was okay are people not worth consdering anyway. Did he really think he could do this and get nothing but cheery responses for making people who never did anything malicious to him and were only the type of people who dream of the "possibility" of other life forms. His noble act of contrition was nothing more than self preservation so that kills most of the nobility right there. He was right for taking respoosibility but with it comes taking flack for it, its all part of the pennance process. exactly wolfen, i think that a lot of the things we see are human made. People don't realize that science is ussually ten to fifteen years ahead of what the everyday person thinks. There are probably things in developement right now that would seem like Star Trek.

True very true. I do want to emphasize though that I don't doubt the "possibility" of extra terrestrial visitation either. I obviously dont know for a fact, but it is "possible".

aslo right, I saw a video of a mathmetician who explained that there is a formula to figure out using our system as a model theoretically how many planets of the Earth varity might exist throughtout the universe. He went on to show how a percentage of those would most likely have intellegent life of one sort or another. And it was not a small number, if he was even ten percent right there are many many possibilities.

The Drake equation is so Sixties. Four decades later, mathematician and statistics analysis expert Amir Aczel has much improved it. He wrote Probability One.

You don't know what a debunker/skeptic is! I'm a UFOlogist (since 1958), have had 6 solid sightings (videotaped one) and I'm also a debunker and a skeptic. One can wear many hats. I'm proud to say one of my best debunking efforts dealt with Virgil "Potsy" Armstrong in Los Angeles in the '80s. A scammer if there ever was one. He thought he could fool everyone and had a talk radio host fooled until I appeared.

So basically you saw something you don't believe in. Wonderful. I guess Darwinism really can travel in reverse at times.

The person you are referring to is Frank Drake. Why is what he says accepted as gospel? I don't accept his theory whatsover and it is an insult to intellgence. He states X from X. To me he is stating zero from zero. He has no evidence whatsoever to support his formula. He doesn't know that any other human-like intelligence (oxymoron) exists outside of us. Nothing. Zero. Yet he goes on record that he THINKS x amount exists. This is outright "scientific" b.s. Wait until we have proof of just one, THEN you have a meaningful stat.

While I tend to agree with alot of things you have said thus far I might have to disagree here. One, its simple math. Two if he truely said "thinks" thats the case then here is straight from an online dictionary one of the definitions of think. "to have a belief or opinion as indicated". A belief, or opinion.. Well here is another "to anticipate or expect:"

Hes a mathematician is he not? Its entirely possible thats just how is brain works. Mathematicians, the hard core ones I have ever known are quite odd indeed. Everything they see is in numbers and formulas that make up everything around them. Its kind of scary but yet... at the same time so real. Math is in my opinion the universal language. This is why I don't deny the logic in his theory. I firmly believe there is at the very least one more species of life in this universe. Intelligent? Who knows. I hardly believe us to be intelligent. I just find extrenely hard ot argue math. Its a formula he generated to show the "possibilities" of how much is out there. I dont believe he actually is trying to say that with out a single doubt the number his formula made is fact. The impression I got from what I had seen in a documentary that covered his formula was more about just pointing the numerical possibilties of how much more life "could" be out there.

His formula I suspect is the kind of formula that is defined as a conventional method. As in he used a conventional math formula to calculate possibilities. Now if hes gone and said "I know this many are out here because my math says so" then that would mean he was clearly jumping the gun. I must re-iterate that I believe his formula is purely to give us all a picture of the possibilties.

Nice to see that you are coming clean. Maybe it would also be nice if you took those fake ones out of YouTube and other places that might be showing them. It would mean that much less of the fake ones out there.

LOL. I laugh because thats a good point I didnt think about. If he lied once he could be doing it all over again in his videos about how bad he feels. But, we do have to remember, he was doing a social experiment. Those can at times be quite rough on those who ended up in them. Personally, id never do a social experiment like that. The kind that can lead to people being hurt emotionally. Unfortunately.. I'm not entirely sure thats possible.

That was also my reaction when I went to his website and saw the list of videos. He is presenting videos made by others and one doesn't know if he slipped one or more in there. Frankly, I don't need social experiments, we already know that some photos/films/videos were hoaxed. I even sort-of welcomed him to this forum. But when I went to his website and read his opening comments I was turned off to him and I wrote him to tell him how I felt about his position. Since he is taking off on this forum and impressing almost everybody, I don't mind including here my email to him.

His website included a comment section, of sorts. There was exchange between the proprietor, and an obvious ... 'salesguy' huxtering phony 2 cent baloney. I 'forget' his name, but just some well publicized dropout looking type, scamming junk on doped up idiots, in my opinion.

It was written about here, long time ago. If they look like ducks...and they own a graphics program, and film ufos in very public places- its a duck.

Has anybody here ever really seen something _really_ unusual? I think I may have, but don't give a hoot about 99.9% of images. There have always been so many fakes- going way back. All in the name of some dreamed of financial gain.

Well spoken. I was immidiatly going to say it was just wording that turned you off and all it needs is a simple addition of "hes seen" to make it more appropriate. You nailed it on the money though. Its one thing to pop off random statistics when BS'ing with friends and such, but if your trying to something even semi professionally you need to watch what you say and make sure you have your facts straight.

Thats why its a mathimatical THEORY it only extrapolates its number by using a limited example as its baseline IE our Galaxy. He in no way says its a fact and its hardly gospel. But what it is is a serious thought on the subject by a brilliant mathmetician. That alone is worthwhile. Just considering the sheer size and numbers involved and also what anyone can observe about nature and how life finds a way it doesn't seem plausable that the whole thing only produced us. Or if you will, that the whole mechanism produced us as the prime sentient beings would seem like the entire system shouldn't have worked in the first place if that was the case. Frankly I don't think we're the best the universe has to offer.
