With the story that went with it.

"My name is Polly Gear. I am from Clarksburg, WV, and co-founded Mountaineer Ghosts Paranormal
Investigators with Misty Davis, and on May 7, 2004, I captured a photograph of a shadow person in the
West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, WV.

The experience happened that night around 1:30 am - just a few hours after a severe thunder and
lightening storm. I was walking south toward the lobby in the north hallway when I heard a noise from the
doorway to the cafeteria behind me. I walked back to the doorway and turned on the flash light to see
what the noise could have been. When I reached the doorway that enters the small hallway between the
big hall and the cafeteria, I flipped on my light and saw a black form of a human shadow walking toward
me; but it was looking out the windows to its right as it was walking. The light from my flashlight shone right
through this shadow person. At this time, the shadow person saw that there was some light on itself. It
looked at its arm (where my light was on it), then it looked at me and dashed behind the door frame of the
smaller hallway it was in. I said to myself, 'This is paranormal! I have to get a picture of this!' So as the
shadow dashed behind the door frame, I started slowly walking backward down the big hallway. I threw my
flashlight to the floor as I kept slowly backing off - walking backward. As I was doing this, I got my camera
ready...turned it on and waited for it to be ready to flash. I some how knew that I had to keep walking
backward or the shadow would leave. As soon as my camera was ready, I held it out and took one photo
shot. It was so dark in the hallway, so I was seriously afraid that I had missed the entire doorway where
the shadow man was. As you can see from the angle of the photo, I nearly missed my opportunity, but my
prayers were answered that I could capture a photo of it.

A little detail on what this shadow person looked like at a distance of 10 feet between it and myself when I
first saw it in the small hallway...this shadow was a perfect outline form/shape of a man - a big man. Inside
the shape, as my flashlight was on it, was really black vibrating static - such as you would see on a TV set
that is off channel...only black! There were no facial features, no hair...no sounds from it. Its movements
while walking were somewhat animated - hard to describe it for you to understand. It was definitely a
sentient being; it knew I was there...it looked at me. I was NOT afraid of this shadow...no evil or dark
feelings happened with this. I felt it was just as curious about me as I was of it. I feel that is why it chose to
partially step out into the hallway where I was - to check me out. With the hallway being so dark, I did not
know that it had stepped out until I looked at the photo on the camera right after I took the shot. When I
saw I had a photo of it, I ran back down the hallway to the area and checked every inch of the cafeteria,
the other hallway, another room off the big hallway and even outside around the cafeteria. There was NO
ONE in the area. I want to mention that on this night we had rented the penitentiary on a private basis and
there were only 15 people there...and 13 pf us were women. Neither of the two men there that evening
were large men. They were men that I knew personally, so I know positively that I did not mistake this for a
real person. I would also like to say that if I had any doubt at all about this photo being a real shadow
person - one that I SAW with my own eyes at a distance of 10 feet, I would not have put this photo out in
the public to be seen. I am showing this photo and telling my story of this experience and swear it to be
truthful in my own words."

I think he looks like a real person, not a ghost - like the photo was taken before he died.

In 84'? Pretty good picture for 84'.

This was on Ghost hunters or TAPS. They were able to recreate the image by someone shining a light behind the photographer. It was a good topic of discussion on the show, but it was easily reproduced, so that could take away some of the validity of it. But if it's real, it's a good capture of a shadow person ... however I'm more skeptical towards it.

Why not? I don't see anything necessarily modern in ths picture. It just looks like the man is standing behind her.

Because it was recreated very very easily. I'm not totally doubting it, I'm just a little weary of how easily it was done again. Usually when something can be easily reproduced it's not as paranormal as once thought. I like the photo and before I seen TAPS "debunk" it, I just believed it was a shadow person. Why? Are you a strong believer of the photo?

Here are a few pics taken at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, AR. The Crescent is pretty famous for being a really active haunted hotel and has a pretty colorful history: men dying during its construction, becoming a prestigious hotel in the late 1800's, closing and becoming a girls school where one student killed herself and another died after a fall down the stairs, bought by a crack doctor and turned into a cancer research hospital in the 30's where he performed experiments on cancer patients - turns out he didn't even have his liscence to practice medicine, hotel was closed and remained that way for years until it was bought, renovated and re-opened as the hotel it is today. It is said to be haunted by several ghosts. Tom, the maintenace guy who is known for being very mischevious and likes to mess with people. The white woman who is seen going in and out of balcony windows, a nurse from it's hospital days seen pusing a cart up and down the hall, a man who likes to hang out in the restaurant at the bar, another woman who is seen in the elevators, just to name a few. They have had guests check out in the middle of the night. One woman swears she woke up and the whole room was covered in blood. My mom's best friend stayed their for her honeymoon and she was a total non-believer. She said she and her husband woke up in the middle of the night because they heard clanging and banging and she swears they both saw a man standing at the radiator tinkering with it like he was fixing it. The staff reports they get phone calls from a locked room in the basement. Then, of course the normal ghostly stuff - noises, talking, stuff being moved, etc.
The staff is really friendly and open about talking about it. The porter let my friend and I hang around with him through out the night. The weirdest thing that happened was an alarm clock went off in a room that hadn't been used in awhile and when we went to shut it off we noticed that the alarm wasn't even set anywhere close to the time it was nor was it turned on. That was pretty cool. At the front desk they have a bunch of photos that guests have sent them taken from their visit and they have some pretty awesome ghost photos.

This picture was reportedly taken with infrared film during an investigation at the Sunnyvale, California, Toys R Us store. The man leaning against the wall was not visible and did not appear in photos taken at the same time with normal film. A June 1991 Ad week article tells the tale: The children have left, and the din has subsided. Another hard day of shopping is history at the Sunnyvale, California, branch of Toys R Us. Yet there might be activity inside the vast, silent emporium this midnight, none of which has to do with the straightforward business of retailing. Inside, it is said, toys topple from the their shelves. A skateboard rolls down an aisle, clanking aimlessly into a wall. But nobody is in this Toys R Us this midnight. Or anyway, nobody alive. In the heart of high-tech Silicon Valley, could there really be such a thing as a haunted retail outlet? In the past few years, store management has tried to get to the bottom of several curious developments. Stories of objects flying 20 feet through the air and hitting employees. Shelves left neat in a locked store have been found in disarray the next morning. And then there was the talking doll that cried mama over and over-- but would only do so when put in a locked box. The incidents were taken seriously enough that management let a local psychic visit the store.

I get that that's what the preson who put this photo on the internet says, but has it been proven that this photo wasn't actually taken while he was living? I mean, it looks like the guys s just standing behind her.

I saw TAPS investigate that Library on Ghost Hunters. They didn't get much.

Not to get off topic but I had a question I've been wanting to ask for awhile but didn't feel it worthy of a new topic... do people here not like TAPS or their show? I hardly see it mentioned. New season just started. Its kinda irrating when they investigate a place for a few hours and if they dont have a ghost basically walk up and say hi they dont think its haunted. I guess Im just not as skeptical as most.

There's a thread on it in the proper section, media. Personally I love the show ... I've watched every episode to date and can't wait for the new season. Lots of people don't like it but whatever, I love the approach they take to try and prove it's not haunted. Thats why when they get evidence, it's great. They have great gear, and they know what they're talking about. Great show.

That's what I like about TAPS though, what I've seen of it, if they don't get any evidence they say so. It makes it more believeable to me.

Of course, you never know but I tend to think they are. I have issues with the face in the driveway and the one in the conservatory could be a light trick with the window but I just don't know. I really like the one on the stairs and the one with the cat. The orb is pretty cool too.
They are congruent with the sightings and stories of the hotel. Some of the pics they kept at the desk were the best ones i've seen. There is one that really got me - it was a woman standing in the hotel room posing and in the reflection of the tv(and I don't like reflection pics, especially TV ones, but this was different) there is a very clear image of a girl with long black hair wearing a white dress, her head is tilted down and she is looking up and the creepies thing is the image is upside down. Fake? Maybe. Scary? Definately.

PS: I love TAPS too. Think they are totally credible, have great equipment but most importantly they are rational and logical and that is what makes them credible.

Nice pics Slim ... Looks weird to me, the dude that is. Odd. Was there any history of the place? Like anyone die there, etc? He looks to be oddly shaped if he were alive.

After some adjustments, I'm questioning this one. On the left side (our left), it looks like he's casting a shadow to me. Same angle as the shadow on the people sitting down. There appears to be no shadow on the right, the shirt nearly blends into the building behind him. What do you guys think?

Yeah it kinda does look like that don't it. Still tho ... the guy seems kinda wavey towards his upper torso. I don't know if this is a ghost captured on film or what ... but either way it's weird.

You are right though ... you can see that little bit of shadow to their right. Maybe it's just a ghost with a shadow?? I don't know ... it's kind of grainy too.

Coredrill, what do you know about this photo you posted? It's definately got a human form, you can see his hand on the statues knee. I don't know a lot about photography though.

oo oo, I got one. I caught this off a webcam myself a while ago. I think it's a man speeding by on a bike, hence the blur - but I thought I'd show you guys.

Also, my favourite ghost photo will always be the Wem girl. It defies logic to me.

Nice pick Coredrill. I've seen that beofre years ago. It's creepy how there are so many of thoes pics with reflections off windows and windshields. Pretty creepy .... that's a good shot.

I have seen this before too. It looks to be halloween, so who knows. Kind of creepy though.




Nice pic. I've never seen this one. I was looking all abround for someone looking at the mirror ... but it's impossible for someone to get that kind of proximity unless they were right next to it ... someone's reflection across the room isn't going to do that. Great pic Coredrill.




Another one I've never seen. it's in Scotland, so it's probably real lol, they got some crazy stuff going on over there. Good find ... kind of looks like the pic was taken behind glass .... just because the figure looks like a reflection to me.

OH MY GOSH I PISSED MYSELF WOMAN!!!

I believe this was posted on here before and it is in the photo section somewhere. The guy who took it said he had just moved into this place and was taking pictures to send to his family of his new house. He took a picture right before this one that reflected nothing. He claims he was alone in the house.
If you look to the left it appears someone is peering around the corner. This picture creeps me out. If you zoom in on its 'face' its eye appears to be reddish in color and it seems to smiling.

The ones where someone is peeking scare the heck out of me.

I'm agreeing with Gene. The tombstones are outside of a house, pretty elaborate setup. There's a pumpkin below the arrow. There's a white floaty thing above the man's head. Below is adjusted and enlarged.
