Stars
As I gaze upon the midnight sky
I see a twinkling ocean up on high
If I travelled for all my life to see
I could not reach, they are beyond me
Although so very far away
The stars sparkle down as if to say
Look at us we know you see
Our joyous heavenly assembly
Yet as I stand alone & ponder
About the stars that shine up yonder
Although to me they're out of reach
Their light reaches down to try & teach
A lifetime is but a grain of sand
On a cosmic beach we briefly stand
But like the stars above my head
We each shine brightly where we tread
Our light shines forth from deep within
Hearts & minds we each can win
Sentinels of light shine down their gaze
Winking their knowing stellar ways
Some may shine more brightly than others
In essence they're all sisters & brothers
A solitary star would be lost in space
Whilst many fill the sky with grace
As the sun rises the stars hide away
Patiently awaiting the end of day
They're sharing their gifts of joy & mirth
With the other side of mother earth
Just like us, stars are born & die
No longer seen, still inhabit the sky
Next time you wish upon a star
Remember how important you truly are
