I was the manager in charge usually when I was there late, so I had to be the brave one. *g* It was kind of funny, though, because it wasn't a ghost that we were afraid of. It was just that sometimes the voices were so loud you could swear there was really someone there, but we didn't want to call the police and report an intruder only to look stupid when it turned out it was just the ghosts.

These are my pics from Fort Amherst. Hope you enjoy.
The Dog with something weird going on.

The Lighthouse (unmanned).

I think there's a figure in the window.

This is a cropped photo of the "figure"

The Dog hated it the whole time. She wanted out and that was that.

Inside a room. Apparently now the town dumpster.

Does this look like a walking man in the blurred shot?

Cheers,

Great to find a place where people won't call me crazy. Every place I go, it seems that I attract spirits. I know it sounds crazy, but I swear, it's the honest to god truth. Sometimes, I feel this sense of impending doom, like something bad is trying to get me, and it drives me crazy. My family has always been like that - things like suicide, extreme depression, etc. are not at all uncommon in my family. I don't know if that means that we all have some kind of sith sense, or if we're just nutty, but it's definitely something.
Anyways, I've been to a lot of scary places, and had a lot of terrifying experiences in my life.
For example, when I was about 13, my step dad was terminally ill, and we stayed at hospice for a couple of months, and I saw some things there that I will never, ever be able to erase from my memory. Like the guy who had his stomach vacuumed in the middle of the hallway, and the gurgling noises he made. The amount of grief and suffering there, is just totally overwhelming - especially for somebody who's more inclined to sense paranormal things.

Maybe it's not that you attract them, but are a sensitive and can see/sense them where ever you go.

Maybe that's the case, or maybe I'm just off of my rocker.
It just seems that certain things, places, or people set off my "doom sense", and that I'm usually the only one who feels it.
That's why I came here; to share some of my experiences, and to re-assure myself that I'm not crazy.

Well, if you're crazy, so am I! I will be able to tell if there is someone hanging around a building. I was staying in a house that had a huge backyard about ten years ago. I hated going out in that backyard. I felt that something/someone was out there. I told my boyfriend of the time that I hated it out there, there was soemone out there. He came home from work one day and said that there was a guy who used to live in the house and he disappeared. I said so that's who is out there. I am still convinced that he was buried out there.

Once we stayed in a hotel in aviemore which is in Scotland where alot of weird stuff happend. We werent as scared because there were 4 of us sharing a room. I slept on the top bunk on the left hand side and sometimes i woke up on the floor which is weird, the TV would turn on and off by its self as would the room lights. We seen some guy in a kilt standing in the hall way (Hardly anyone in Scotland weres a kilt BTW) and the window that was in our room looked out onto the roof and once i seen a woman in a dirty white dress standing on the roof infact we all seen her.
This story wont win the competition but i garuntee if any of you were in any of these positions you woulda gotten scared as i did but people being with you helps you be less scared.

Actually, people who are more scared and believe in ghosts greatly are more lickely to have an experiance with one. Im not saying there not real, but being scared of them opens the door for them to scare the crap out of you.
My story isn't really scary but I will tell it anyway.
I was about 6-9 years old and we were helping someone from our church lay down carpet in his house. The house was in the bottom of the church building, which was at one time a school. It is a VERY old building except for the aditorium. It was about 50 years old. ANYWAY, I went upstairs becuase I was bored out of my mind. I was up there for about 5 minutes when the office door swung open. I checked the room and no one was in the office. So I went downstairs and told my dad. He though I was crazy. My little sister then said she needed to use the bathroom and there was no bathroom downstairs. So I went up with her. When she got out she wanted to play in the back room. There was nothing in there except for a few tables and chairs and a piano. She was messing around on the piano for awhile and then she wanted to go back downstairs. When we were about to leave(the door was shut and locked) the door handle turned. The door didn't open, but I was flipping out. The only way out of the room was the door whos handle turned. I ran up to the door unlocked it, and ran out into the hall. I told my sister to hurry and then the office door opened once again and then I though "forget my sister" and I ran downstairs. She was freacked out too so she was right behind me. Anyway, my dad still thought I was crazy, but there was an older girl, about 16-17 at the time. She said that while the church was still a school, she had to clean the building that me and my little sister were in. She said she didn't like the building either and that it gave her the creaps. She believed my story. And im not much of a ghost believer, I never have been.
Eversince that day, I have never been in that buiding alone. I have also had no other "ghost" experiences either.
But I do have really creapy dreams. Like when we first moved into the house we are in now, I had a dream we moved in that an old guy died of pnemonia in this house, but I have never told any one.
I need an avvie...

Ok my scariest experience was in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere /all night/all alone. Paranormal crap happened there all night and I found out later my friends grandfather hung himself in there.
Another time in Washington state in the middle I mean middle of nowhere all alone all night. Pitch dark and breaking, snapping huge branches that kept getting louder and closer. (just like in Blair witch before it came out)I was in a tent feeling "very vulnerable". But I'm sure it was a big bear after the fact. It was "hell night" and I cryed when the daylight finally broke. It was another longest night of my life just like on the farm.
Sometimes I think I suffer from post traumatic stress disorder from these incidents

Ok. I'm giving this a try.
All my life there have been strange happenings around me and most members of my family. I have seen and heard things that I haven't been able to explain. The scariest is the one I will tell you about now:
I live in a little town in Kentucky and I have lived in this area all my life so I know all the local haunts (no pun intended). A few years ago I worked as a closing waitress in a little steak house in town.
My car was in the garage so my aunt came this particular night to get me from work and take me home. We shared a big house about 15 miles out of town, way out in the country. (Note: things seem to happen much more frequently when my aunt and I are together.... wonder why?)
While she drove I had my apron in my lap and was counting the night's tips when I heard some rustling in the back floor board behind my seat. I looked back and there was some sales papers in the floor and, thinking it must have been the air from the open window, I closed my window and reached behind me to get the papers off the floor and put them on the seat behind me.
A few minutes later my aunt and I heard thumping in the floor behind me, the same place where the rustling was just moments before. It sounded like someone hitting the floor with their feet, not a very loud noise but we could hear it plainly.
Now, obviously this made us a little nervous but we weren't actually scared, until something hit my seat. Again, it was something like small feet just nudging the back of the seat. I looked back and of course there was nothing. Getting a little creeped out we turned on the radio and my aunt pressed on the accelerator a little harder. Again, something hit my seat. I told my aunt what was happening and at first she thought I was trying to freak her out and wouldn't believe me. Again, my seat was hit, only this time hard enough to actually make the seat move and the seatbelt to become a little tight on my chest.
Being the kind of person (idiot??) I am, I unbuckle myself so I can turn and get a better look in the back seat. Of course there was nothing to be seen but as I was turning back around my seat was hit really hard. So hard, in fact, it threw me against the dash. I finally righted myself to find that I was bleeding behind my right ear where my head hit the dash. By this time, I'm not ashamed to admit, I was crying like a baby and torn up like a train wreck. My aunt pulled onto the side of the road and we got out of the car. I was ok, except for a good sized bruise and a small cut, and of course half out of my mind with fear.
Hesitantly, we got back into the car (we were still in the middle of no where) and headed toward home, all the while saying any prayers we couldn't think of and quoting bible verses, anything we thought might help. My seat was being thumped the whole way home and I was a blithering idiot by the time we pulled up to the house.
Needless to say, I never got into that car again.
I have no idea why this happened and even more, why I was singled out. I have so many of these stories that I have witnessed first hand and even more that have been told from other members of my family. I'll post more later if anyone is interested.

I don't blame you! Friggin' freaky. The only time I had anyone touch me was to get me to acknowledge them. I knew someone was walking around me, wanting me to recognize them, but I don't acknowledge spirits since you can invite bad things into your life. He finally flicked my hair. After telling them that I knew they were there are and I was very sorry they had died, I just didn't know who it was. A couple of days later I found out that a friend had committed suicide and I truly believe it was him coming to say goodbye.

I had a Great Grandmother who was really into bad stuff. I mean, blood sacrfice, the whole bit. I have no idea if she was really "evil" or just make people think it but anyone here that still know of her won't really talk about her. She hated my maternal Grandmother (her daughter-in-law) because she wasn't afraid of her and wouldn't let Great Granny into her house. When Great Granny died her last words were to Granny and they were that she would come back some day "through your children or the children of your children.

well my scary story isnt so scary, and is probably just all phsycological.
But my mate was walking back from tennis 1 day,and he said he saw a ghost. Btw it was round a year ago now, and i believe it was at about 6pm'ish. Anyway he seen this ghost walking back from his tennis, and the ghost noticed him, and started to walk closer towards him (which i found really strange myself), and he said he managed to see the ghosts face, very vaguely and he said it looked like it had been burnt. He said a breif description of the ghost was: bout 5ft 2'ish, appearen to be wearing some form of coat and the burnt face. (which to me is alot of detail for a ghost). But he went back, but this time with my other mate and his younger sister. And they went around 7pm'ish. And they said that along to path, which goes past a park they seen an orb like thing, and a car went past and the orb was no longer there. So they went closer, and my mates sister started to have breathing difficulties, they said she was complaining of a tight chest, and my other mate started getting bad headaches, and at this point they left and they were sh*t scared. Anyway, about 2 or 3 days later i joined them this time, and we went at around 5'ish this time, after playing soccer, and it was still a but bright, but was gettin dark. Nothing happend after about 20 minutes or so, and we all decided to go home and meet up again for around 9'ish. So we went, and it was really dark, and i brang a torch with me. And we looked around for around 10 minutes and nothing happend. but we started looking into further areas, and we heard various bush rustling, but it was near a big field so i jus put it down as maybe some little birdy's. But we seen a rather wierd shadow as we started heading back, we must of been 50 yards from the main point. And we seen the shadow in the light, cudnt of been 1 of us as we didnt walk under the light, and my mate shouted "is anybody there?", and suddenly i felt my chest tighten, and i got that wierd thing, where if u look at a bright light and u cant see properly. And i started walkin like the local drunk, and couldnt think straight. And when we were running away, we felt something following us, and i was wearing a hoody, and it felt like something had grabbed onto it and started pulling me back, altho at this point we were running up a hill which may have been why i felt this. And when we got to the top of this hill, i shined my light over the park area, and noticed that the swing was moving and we didnt understand why.
but anyway thats it lol

scariest place I have been? ok I will tell.
about 1 year ago I was at this old cemetery beside an a banded train station, their was a horse poll (ware you tie you stead to a pole) and behind that were these 2 graves, I felt something call me, well, more like an instinctual pull, I had to go, so I slowly paced with a useless fear, to the polls, then between the graves into the woods (I use this term loosely the thickest tree was only a few inches in diameter) the weeds were growing over vines so I tripped once or twice, the moon shinning above was waxing, suddenly a wind blew across cool and chilling, I thought nothing of it, something shapeless leaped for hidden bush to hidden shrub, long striding jumps, I ran back between the graves something snagged at my leg, I pulled never stopping, and shot to the truck, I checked my leg, a bit of blood poured on my ankle, was it a barber? did something bite me? did a stone scratch me? I have no idea.
(since then I dream of trees and that cemetery)

Mine's stupid but I'll post it anyway. I was traveling with my sister and my mom to a dogshow. I had to go to the bathroom really really bad so we stopped at this cute little food place. My sister had to go too, so she went with me. When I walked to the door there was a bag of water pinned to the top of the door , which I though was kind of odd. I walked in and asked where the rest room is and walked down a hall passed some people, then walked to the back. There was one guy sitting at the table watching a football game. He watched my sister an I walk to the bathroom, which I entered first. Bad idea. When I opened the door, oddly, there was an old fasioned bath tub. But What I saw first scared the living daylights out of me. I saw a pair of legs hanging from the tub, I freaked out and slammed the door shut. I could feel my face go all white. "There's.. there's.. someone in there." I told my sister. By this time, the guy who was sitting along thought it was hilarious and started laughing and almost fell to the floor. "What are you laughing at? Why is that funny? You think it's funny?" I asked him, but he kept laughing. I slowly opened the door and saw that it was just a manikin laying the bathtub. My sister peeked in and saw what it was that freaked me out so much, but said I should just go anyway. The woman had her head turned to the door and had what looked like ketchup all over her to look like blood. I went as fast as I could and tried to get out of there. The man was still chuckling to himself as we left. I stopped in front of him and stared him right in the eyes. "You think that's so funny son't you? What would have happen if I was an elderly woman walking in there? I could have had a heart attack!" Then I stormed off. My sister though it was quite a thing for a 13 year old girl to say to a 60 year old guy, but I was really shaken by it. I was shaking for about fifteen minutes before I was calm again. That was about three years ago, and I'm still afraid of manikins. lol

It wasn't scary, but the most intriguing paranormal experience I have ever had was in the Suncoast theater in New Port Richie, Florida. I was doing a ghost investigation. At the time, only me and one other person was in the theater proper - everyone else was in the lobby packing up (We were just taking a couple last pictures). Suddenly, it sounded like 2 or 3 people in hard-soled shoes (Not sneakers) were walking across the stage. Nobody was there and I am certain nobody was behind the stage (We walked backstage and looked)...
My dad lived most of his life in New Port Richie, I never knew it held any haunted places...Interesting...

The battery dying like that and then coming back is interesting. I've heard of things like that happening in conjunction with other hauntings. You know, batteries dying, electrical appliances malfunctioning. Makes me wonder if perhaps whatever is powering the haunting is acting as a parasite on available energy sources. Maybe that's why there are so often cold spots in conjunction with hauntings too. Heat is a form of energy, after all.
I've noticed that often when I'm reading "true" ghost stories, either at home reading them online or out in public somewhere reading them in a book, I'll get very cold. I live alone and eat out a lot by myself, so I always try to take a book with me. For a long time I just thought the restaurants kept their air on too high, but eventually I realized that I only sit and shiver while reading ghost stories. I even read ghost stories to cool down when it got blisteringly hot last summer. *g* Could just be psychological, but I do wonder. Anyone else ever noticed that sort of thing?
This happens to me too.
