Hello all!

Me and JN thought it was time for another competition, so we decided on the scariest place you have ever been, it can be anywhere but you have to give the story and it doesn't even have to be paranormal, but you might have thought that when you were there.

I will be a judge, JN might be and you just need to ask to be judge, we will have three judges, and please don't make it up and if you're a judge be fair!

No, sorry, though that would be really fun but frightening!

I'm a bit embarrassed to relate this one, but I will probably never meet any of you anyway. Some of you know that I am a bit of an amateur survivalist. I enjoy going into the woods and camping and practicing my skills. One night, I'm in a low ridge valley all by myself. I found a great spot in a small clearing, and I set up camp. (I can sleep on the ground if I have to, but I much prefer a tent and bag.) I have a small fire going, and I am warming some squirrel stew from an unfortunate that wondered into my snare that morning. (I was trying for rabbit.) Anyway, I'm stirring, and I hear something in the woods. Now this isn't unusual, but what got my attention, is it didn't sound like a quadraped. It sounded bipedal (two legs) and it was circling my camp. Now I am embarrassed to say I was very drunk at the time. Sobbing over a lost girlfriend really. She really meant alot to me, and I seldom drink, but I went from the rest of the beer to a flask of whiskey I keep for visitors in my kit. And I was very nearly singing to myself when I first heard the footsteps. Whatever it was just circled my camp beyond the light of the fire. I can't elaborate too much, because I really don't remember much. But I remember the sound of steps, and the flapping of what sounded like immense wings. And I was so scared I was literally praying and sobbing and saying goodbye to my loved ones before I lost consciousness. I woke up on the ground the next morning. I went looking for sign, and found a log that I had used to clean the squirrel on. Broken in half. Other than that, the can I was using to warm the stew eventually turned over in the fire, but I could see no signs of the squirrel quarters that were in it. ~Jackal

My Aunty Jean used to be the keeper of the keys in the Lodge at Tamworth Castle here in England in the 1970's. Tamworth Castle has several ghosts and has been investigated by Most Haunted and just came 4th in the Britains Best series, the only castle in the top 10 .

As I child I'd often stay for weekends with her, the lodge house stood in the grounds of the castle and I remember there was a cannon behind my aunty's wardrobe! The most famous ghost at the castle was Editha, there is a statue right outside where our bedroom was of her on a tall column, I could see it through the windows whilst I was in bed and it was really scary. I was only about 6 at the time!

My sister, who is the most rational person, saw something through. In our bedroom there was an old churchlike (arched?) window onto the stairs inside the lodge, she swears she saw a pair of lit candles slowly moving up the stairs one night - funnily enough, we spoke about this just last week, and she assures me this is what she saw. My aunty lived there alone and was often woken in the night when the alarms went off in the castle - it was her job to let the emergency services in.

I can't say if it was because I was a child, and I never saw anything myself, but the atmosphere there is incredible. I don't need to see anything to tell me that place is haunted - you just feel it.

Great story! That would have been pretty scary having to stay near a haunted castle, though it would be very fun! grin2.gif

i went camping with a bunch of friends a few years ago and we were planning on getting pretty hammerd but we chose this little island in the middle of the Manatee river when we saw this place it was secluded and had a crappy delapitated dock

the island was a very long and skinny but like 5 feet from the dock was a clearing so we set up the camp fire and set up the drink table

me and my best friend Josh went out to get fire wood, so me and him ventured out deeper in the little island when we reached a clearing of an old School house....with old desks like from the 1800s so we got some Fire wood and ventured back to the camp

about 10 p.m. we were partying i only had 3 beers at the time we wernt drunk yet so we had a right mind, we told our friends about the old school house
so we decided to go explore it also because it might have had some cool stuff to collect

so this school house was litraly 1 giant room about 30 feet wide and about 100 feet long it was on stilts too, one wall was falling down.

so we enterd through the broken wall and the room was pitch black, so we turned on our flash lights and our 3 beams bounced around a dust covred CLassroom. i went to what could have been the teachers desk and opend a drawer, and found an old paper dated January 17th 1897 which was pretty cool when i heard some Shuffling across the room and followed the light beam towards my friend. Josh Paned his light in my eyes and said What kinda glasses are those man?" I responded "Dude im not wearing glasses and your blinding me man!" He Grabed my shoulders and spun me around to see 2 BRIGHT yellow Eyes and they looked Almost Human and they were lit up, so i started getting nervouse i yelled "hey Jay whered you get those man" and the thing that scared the crap out of me most was when he responded BEHIND Me and he turned his flash light on me i turned to him and turned back and they were gone. so me and josh screamed and started looking for the hole in the wall, we found it and started to open up the plank that lead outside but right before we steped out jay flashed his light behind us and we saw this huge guy with fur and when i say fur i mean like a Bear fur and the head turned towards us with those BRIGHT Yellow eyes i Screamed and pushed Jay and JOsh through the Hole and ran back to our camp

later that night me and Josh were sharing a tent and we were watchin a movie on my PSP when we saw a shadow streatch across our tent that had to be like 10 foot tall then we heard the footsteps that Just Pounded the ground just such heavy footssteps then we heard the camp fire logs being moved and fiddled with , 5 minutes went by when we heard this HUGE loud Roar as we heard the fire collapes, jay and his girlfriend came rushing out the tent about the same tim we did and we saw something huge Rip through the trees...

we decided not to stay on that island and we got back on our boat leaving all the alchole and table still there, to this day the table and Booze still lies on that island but we are too sacred to get it back...nor do we care

scared the crap out of us so i decided to investigate the Island and it Was a Elementary school in the 1800s in the former community that used to lie on the banks of the manatee river, the school closed down after being attacked by ...get this "a Giant Gorrila" wow that sent shills down my spine remembering those eyes

It was great fun. I took my son there recently, he was amazed that we actually stayed there. My mom said that my aunty had a cross that wouldn't stay on the wall, they kept finding it on the floor.

Scariest would have to be King's Park Psych Center on Long Island. I've never been inside but I've walked the outside of the grounds & you feel like 10,000 eyes are on you from all the buildings. Plus knowing what the place was & the size of it, it's just scary.

This is one of scariest places/experiences for me.
My brother was interested in buying this house two county's away. This house was beautiful, huge, very old. It's an old anna bellum house.. it was very secluded on a 150 acre spread with a pond.. Well, He was excited about this house, and had his hopes set up on buying it. He got the keys for the house one day, & came by to pick me up to let me see it.

We got there and went in from the back side of the house. We walked unto the porch which was screened in, and reached from one end of the house to the next end... Then, from there we walked into the kitchen.. I remember feeling like I was hesitating walking in.. but pushing myself to keep going.
It was an impressive house and he's all into it, all excited about it. We walked down this long corridor into the living room.. (LOL) and as soon as I walked in that room something came over me I can't explain & never will forget. I felt extremely uncomfortable. Chills were coming up on me, i felt them on my face, my neck, on my head, arms.. I kept looking over my shoulder.. trying to rub the chills away....This uneasy feeling had gotten so intense for me, I felt like coming out of my skin- Off the top of my head, my first reaction said to him "Somethings wrong in here." He said to me "what do you mean, wrong?" At that second, (LOL!!), the lights from the ceiling started flickering on and off.. On and off....On and off. I repeated myself to him again, "something is not right in here, I'm going to the truck." I walked out. He was right behind me. (I think this sort of rattled his cage somewhat cause he didn't ask too many questions...) :}
So, it was an old house, and ok, maybe it had electrical issues or something, that's fine..

but, The next day he calls me in disbelief. He'd asked the Realtor about the history on this house, and the Realtor had said a few things regarding its' history, but what surprised my brother was when the realtor mentioned the owner before the last one had committed murder/suicide in that very living room that we had stood. This man blown his wife's brains out then to turned the gun on himself..
and chills came again.

The scariest place I 've ever been was my friend "J's" house. The funny thing is it didn't start off scary.
When I would over to his house everything was fine until we started dating. I have to mention that "J" was separated and going through a divorce. One night we were going to watch a movie at his house. I asked him to turn off all the light in the kitchen because of the glare it caused. Afterwards he went to his room to change, then I noticed the kitchen light was on. So I told him that he forgot to turn off the light. So he turned it off (again). I started getting comfy on the couch and notice the kitchen light was on, again. I realized he had indeed turned off the light both times, but it kept coming on. I decided to just leave it alone. If something wanted it on then so be it.
When we left the house I asked him if he had any ghost. He said he did but it was a nice one. And he thought it might be the ghost of his father(even though the father never lived in the house), because these incidents didn't happen until his father died. He said he didn't tell me because he did'nt want to frighten me away. I assured him I was okay with it.

The next few times I went back the ghost indeed made himself known. But I noticed a pattern to it. When "J" would leave me alone to take a phone call from his ex or run to the corner store thats when the ghost would strike. Like when "J" was outside, I would hear the
faucets in the bathroom turning but no water would come out. It did this repeatedly. I ignored it. It didn't like being ignored. So it started slamming the bathroom door. I noticed it sounded like it would only open the door slightly then slam it hard, repeatedly. It was like it was saying "ignore this". I was so happy when "J' came back in the house. Because as soon as he got in the front door it stopped immediately. The last times I was there I spend the night. Man what mistake that was. There "J" was asleep soundly and me awake most of the night listening. Listening to heavy heavy boots stomping up and down the short hallway outside the bedroom. I was so scared that night. I was terrified that it would come in the room. I know it didn't want me there and it was doing it's best to get rid of me. What scared me the most was, that it was going to such trouble to make me leave. "J" realized this, too. And we decided to go our seperate ways.

Did he buy the house after? No way, he couldn't have. I know what it's like to live in what you described as I did my 3rd year away from home. Super weird to be living in that and also questioning your sanity as it's all happening. It can have severe effects if you let it play on your mind enough, or it plays WITH your mind enough.

Great Story.

Well if it was his dad maybe he was just looking out for him. Maybe he wanted to see if you were right for him by trying to scare you away, and if you made it through a spell of this, it meant that you were probably right for each other .... that's the love story side of things. Maybe it just didn't like you because you were with his son and he was jealous??? Who knows, either way, I'm sure it was very scarey while it was all happening, and I'm sure sometimes it was hard for J to believe you because the stuff only happened while he was away. Sorry bout the relationship ... try it again and tell the ghost to F off. tongue.gif

Good story.

Come on who's next? I've read some pretty crazy stories out there ....

Putting my recent haunting aside, the scariest place I have ever been to in my life, is a home I purchased in the 90's. It was a gorgeous Dutch Colonial in a quiet neighborhood, and close to schools for the kids. It was breathtaking, but it was SO haunted, I was forced to sell in I believe less than a year or so. The scariest part was my then husband, kids, baby sitters and friends all saw and heard things that were terrifying. We would all hear heavy footsteps walking up the stairs to the second floor, chains banging, a man yelling, and it literally manifested the day we moved in. We always felt like we were being watched, my youngest heard heavy breathing over his bed, and my oldest (now that I reflect) suffered from horrific nightmares and would see a man over his bed. Loud bangs would wake us all up, most every night, coughing, and what sounded like vomiting, but it wasnt one room it was all over the place. No matter what rooms we were in, we could hear it. The hot water heater constantly turned itself up to the highest position, so called the gas company so many times, he put a regulator on it, thinking one of my sons was doing it, but that didnt stop it. We were all burned by the water, doors slammed shut and we couldnt open them, so of course panic occurred. I couldnt keep a babysitter because they said the TV turned itself off and on, and there was no cable then. They would also see images of a woman and a man, scurry by them, and then many times the TV talked when it was shut off. This was an every day and night occurance, and was wearing us all down. The final straw was one night I woke hearing glass break and my youngest was screaming. His bedroom window was smashed in (with the shape of a keyhole or a fist and arm) but it was broken from the outside, and oddly that was physically impossible because there was a storm window beyond that, and it was intact. There was glass all over my sons toy box, and him, and he had some glass cuts. I knew that was IT, so put it on the market and moved before it even sold. Come to find out, the man who once lived there was murdered in the house because his wife poisoned him, because he had a mistress. The Realtor knew it was haunted but failed to disclose it, and I was furious. Its in the same town I am in now, and has been bought and sold over and over again, and now for sale again. THAT was horrible especially having young children there with me..JN

So far one of the Judges has one of the best stories. I have a good one too.

My 3rd year of university when I moved away from home I moved into this huge 3 story house, that kind of resembled the Amityville house. When you walked in through the door you had the stairs to the left, just like the movie and the living room and dining room just to the right, it was more alike than it wasnt, so right away it had a creepy factor. When we got moved in we noticed sometimes lights would go on and off by themselves and we heard some weird noises and whatnot. So after about a month into the place, not wuite by close enough, I decided to do the Ouija Board. So we done it and all hell broke loose. During the session my buddy asked it to give a sign that it was real and as soon as that happened the plates in the cubbard started shaking and rattling to the point where they were falling out. That's not all ... at the same time my roomates drums were in his cases in the back porch and you could hear them rattling and the cymbals rubbing off each other, which you wuoldn't normally hear while they were in their padded cases, even while being moved. So that was the start ... we were talkin to a ghost who claimed to live in the basement and said that all the bangings in the house was him looking for attention. So anyways we also later found out that a little girl lived in the attic as well, and when we asked to show us she whistled. When my other 2 roomates got home me and my 4 buddies were done playing and told them of the 2 hours of crazyness that happened... and the girl roomate said to me well I always dream of a little girl whistling in a little golden dress that lived upstairs. Weird huh. Thats by far not the only weirdness to it all .... like you I had heating problems. When we moved in in Sept we noticed that even though it was warm out the furnace was cutting in every 10 -15 minutes ... and we couldn't find no thermostat to turn it off. So I went downstairs for the first time to see if the furnace was broke ..... well ... we never had a furnace. And I knew it was a furnace kicking in, it's a destinctive sound, just like a beer opening. That's barely even half the story and thinkin back on that place gives me the chills badly. I moved out only after 2 months living there because it was just too much.

I could go on with the other little happenings that went on ... like the dishes being done when I go into the kitchen and 5 mnutes later when I go back (my room was just off the kitchen) all the dishes were once again dirty. That only happened once. See figures of a nurse in the window. Lights flickering really fast, and on a dial switch that could only be turned off by rotating it... the push feature was busted. It was a crazy 2 months, but I'd go back now in a heartbeat. I was scared then.

OMG How scary is that? Its amazing when I look back to think of how many times I called the Gas company, electric company, my insurance company etc. To be honest that was the scariest house or place I ever was in. It had hardwood floors, gorgeous french doors going from room to room, and old style pantry, two car garage etc. I fell in love with that house, and we packed up and moved to some crappy apartment till it sold. My kids and I often talk about those days. My then husband who didnt believe or think about paranormal stuff, was on a ladder painting the back of the house one day. Kids were outside and I was inside cleaning. He came in white as a ghost (no pun intended) and said "I just saw my Grandfather." I said "he died a year ago, what do you mean?" He went onto say that he saw his Grandpa outside by the fire hyrdant, and all he had was a head an torso and said he stared directly at him. I was not into paranormal stuff either, going to nursing school, and working a part time job, and taking care of the kids. BUT none of us ever got a nights sleep..JN

I felt guilty about it somewhat because his heart was set on it, but I think it was better him knowing than not knowing...

I've heard so many encounters there its unreal, the two largest cemeteries are very active. someone gave me some really cool pics online but I lost them when my pc crashed. What law are you referring to?

Are you talking about the disclosure law passed in the 90's that states the Realtor has to disclose if a murder was committed in the house?

I've never heard of a disclosure law that states the Realtor has to state if the house is haunted or not. According to this they don't have to disclose it.

Wow, some places are some creepy. I wonder why it only happens to some people? There are people here who would fight to the death if it would convince any of us that there wasn't something out there. Maybe they lack the experience and reality of it. Because with my experiences, I KNOW it's real and I could care less about all the links people send me trying to say different. It's something thats really happening around us and I guess if you don't believe to the point where you are blind to it all, you aren't getting the full life experience, because 1000's and 1000's of people aren't having the same hallicunations. Too bad for them I say.

Anyone else have any stories? Come on ... I've seen the threads where people are telling the weirdest and creepiest things.

The scariest place i've been that i can recall is old salem cemetary which was colonized back in the 1700's originally called "Salem",
But, in 1913 it merged with a nearby community called winston! Now the city is called "Winston-Salem".

Anyway, enough about my little city! lol

There are graves there that date back to the 1600's, and one halloween nigt about 15yrs. ago me and a few of my friends decided that
we would go to the salem cemetary! Right from the start I got this overwhelming burdening feeling, everything was alright at first!
We were having fun cutting jokes Etc. Until this really cold feeling came over all of us "like ice cold", then everything seemed to go
into a dead silence! We started seeing shadows, and hearing footsteps. The final straw was when we heard this horrible, wretched,
scream, that seemed to echo through the cemetary all around us! That was when we decided it was time to go, we didn't know what we
seen or heard and, we didn't want to find out what was going to happen next.

Hope you enjoyed my story! It's something that I nor' my friends will probably ever forget.

seen or heard and, we didn't want to find out what was going to happen next.
Hope you enjoyed my story! It's something that I nor' my friends will probably ever forget.

Thanks,
Tom

Wow, that would have been really scary! Maybe it was one of the witches reliving their burning at the stake?
