The Rendlesham incident is one of the most spectacular catalogings of a UFO incident that exist to this day. Between the eyewitness accounts of individuals that are considered by most skeptics to be the most acceptable kind (military/pilot), the Geiger readings, the castings, and the recordings of the two-way communications, it would be hard to find a more definitive case. And yet they still try. The explanation that they were simply seeing the lighthouse that was not only in the wrong position for the sighting but was identified on the tapes of the officers communications, is laughable. While the initial events of the first encounters are stunning I find the accounts of the object returning and penetrating the air space over the nuclear stock piles even more intriguing. The problems suffered by the base personnel who were monitoring these munitions are so similar to the incidents involving the Minute Man silo in the United States and the Nuclear Launch Code Sequence event in the former Soviet Union, that it points to an area of interest to UFOs and also represents one of the areas of study that I feel have been under estimtated by the UFO community and its more hard core investigative groups. It would be fantastic if a thorough investigation was launched that clearly outlined the chronology of these events, what happened, and what the corresponding countries did in response to them.
