Be careful that you dont get too hot, you could start a fire tongue.gif

Things like body temperature and heart beat can! be influenced by meditation. I believe the Shaolin monks are known for those skills wink2.gif
nohands
can they make it cold???
Veliska
I know how to make it HOTTER!! Lay down instead of sitting up and cross your arms. When cooling off try to breath out harder, but yet slower. See if it cools you off. (while in your normal posture)
Blueguardian
i wonder if i can do any of this stuff, wouldnt want to lose control of it though and overheat tongue.gif

It is common for people to learn to influence their peripheral blood flow. The original poster likes to imagine an aura, etc., but what you imagine is unimportant for success. What counts is that you feel warmer, and want to continue doing that. Feedback will accomplish the task for you, for anybody.

The question about cooling is ironic: you are cooling yourself (assuming the temperature of your surroundings is lower than your core body temperature). You feel warmer when more blood flows close to the surface, where your temperature sensors are. But your blood is losing more heat to the environment, and so you are cooler than you would otherwise be.

You do NOT want to use this "heating" if you are in a dangerously cold environment!

The trick should work in reverse, but since there is no flashy visual to get them on TV (e.g. fog rising from wet sheets draped on their shoulders in the winter outdoors), religious entrepreneurs do not seem to emphasize that aspect of their grasp of the unfamiliar-but-ordinary.

The breathing point made by veliska27 is apt. Humans are boring breathers compared to other mammals, but your lungs are 100% relative humidity, body temperature air chambers. You can expel a lot of heat by breathing properly (dogs famously do just that in the summer).

The hitch is that you do not want to mess with your blood gas balance. Doubtless physiologists and wilderness survival types have studied this in more detail.

Not an abbreviation; just a small word. I meant that I like what you said, that it was a good point to bring up in this thread.

Okay imagine blowing out a candle that is far away.....but hold it that way until all the air has escaped your lungs but do it slowley. This should cool you off.

Well Thankyou for the comment. I also agreed with what you said. Not too mess around with this survival mechanism. The only time I ever use my heating and cooling exercises is very seldom. I only use this during my meditations for practice porposes in case I need to use it in the future.I meditate to channel and balance my energy.

Hmmm kind of fascinating. I wonder if that is why I sweat so bad when I am on the very edge of sleep? It doesn't happen to me all the time, but when I consciously control my breathing to fall asleep I usually wake up about 20 minutes later soaked with sweat... I mean to the point like someone just poured a large glass of water on my chest.

Are you a fast breather when you sleep? Sometimes that speeds up your heart...which can make you sweat. It gets worse when you sleep on your tummy. Maybe you should get a fan. yes.gif

Even while sleeping in an Air Conditioned room with no covers on and no shirt on, I still sweat. I wake up shivering. As far as my breathing excersize I use to fall asleep - I breathe in as slowly and as deeply as I can;being sure that there is a feeling of a comfortable amount of oxygen in my lungs. I know I don't have diabetes or I'm having any kind of withdrawls from anything. I've looked all that up on the internet already. This didn't start happening to me until about 4 years ago and it doesn't happen every night. I hardly ever sleep on my stomach. I usually sleep on my back or on my left side. I do have the ability to lucid dream as well... that's VERY cool.

Are you saying I'm going through andropause??? LOL... nah I doubt that. I guess I should go see my doctor. It's probably a thyroid problem.

Yes, I do feel lucky having the ability to lucid dream since there are many that can't. My favorite of course is the ability to fly and float around. Sometimes I wake up and force myself back to sleep and pick up right where I left off in the dream, knowing I have complete control is waaay cool.

If I could have a lucid dream, I would dream about being with this one guy that I think is totally amazing! It's not considered cheating if it is a dream!!

wow what a great ability...biffsplitkins hehe I only had 1 lucid ever in my life hehe
hmm i wonder if that is lucid dream just past hour ago..

I have read that Tibetan monks have a ritual where they go to a river or lake nearby during the winter. They sit on the shore naked and other monks dip blankets in the icy water and drape them over the monk sitting on the shore. His task is to dry as many blankets as possible using just that kind of energy. Normal body temperature wouldn't be enough to dry even one in those conditions.

i also read that monk ability also,, hmm its easy to get warmer and warmer
but its very hard to get icy......sorry veliska i cant do it...maybe i need more time to practice
the sky is falling!

No this is not lucid dreaming.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dreaming

edit: I've only had a lucid dream one time as well. I woke up in the middle of the night a few weeks after I had read about lucid dreaming, while I was still half asleep I thought of lucid dreaming and I realized I was falling back asleep. Though I was still semi-concious I thought, I'm going to lucid dream I just got to stay concious. I fell asleep and was able to fly around in my dream though I kept waking myself up out of my dream because I was becoming too aware or whatever. After I woke up and went back to sleep around 2 times I fell into a normal sleep.

One can raise their body temperature by mediating, some buddhist monks do it I think.
I can do it, I do not think it is mystical, but more just you telling your body to burn more calories and to move you blood more quickly.

I sit down close my hands and feet, close my eyes, and imagine a fire stifling from my bones, and I make it burn hotter and hotter, breathing deeply during it all, it feels like my body is under a hot blanket, a writhing one.

The monks can raise their temperature really high. They get steam to rise from towel drinched in ice cold water. They can also lower their motabalism so many times lower than you would when your a sleep. It's almost like they are hibernating. I read that the ninja did the same. They could heat them selves up in the cold days and cool them selves in warm days, of course everything about the ninja could be misinformation.
