Full Version: Did Jesus really care?

If the son of god really cared for humanity, surely he would of gone against his fathers wishes and placed more effort on his single belief that we as humans deserved all the help we could get? Ok - it was all a test to place tests, but why didn't jesus just go for it, and not give in because dad said so.
just a thought...

Well, not really sure what you mean , I certainly get all the help I can get, from Jesus, and that goes for the very few people I know that have faith too. I guess there are times when as they say "god says no", but I can't really testify that, I keep getting yeses

give us help how? He gave us the new law, and we ignore it to this day.

I'm not advocating the belief in Christ as god, but in the new law he gave:

Love the lord with all your heart
Love one another as you love yourself.

That, when coupled with the turn the other cheek idea, WOULD result in a "dandy" world. At the very least, beleivers would not be murdering people over land, oil, whatever.

the idea that it is better to suffer than cause suffering is very hard to get the human mind around...but consider the results....

Yes, did he really care? Hmmmm. Ya know, I'm still wondering about what he did with the gold he got of one of the three wise men (if they really were wise). Heck, what do I know. Maybe Mary and Joseph tricked him out of it. Trust no one
~HaParash~
Of course he cared (looking from a Xian point of view). If you look at it through the eyes of a Christian, you wouldn't think that he didn't care. He went according to what he thought the plan was. The plan of Jesus was to save humanity, could he have done that if he didn't go according to the Will of the Father? Maybe, but that would completely go against why he came, to die as an "ultimate sacrifice" for the Christians. Also what your inferring is that you know what is better for humanity than what Jesus does. Of course that's just if you look at it from a Christian point of view.

You make it sound as if Jesus is wanted to do something and didn't because dad said no. (Insert mental picture, God is pointing his finger at Jesus and saying no.)

I don't look at God and Jesus like you do. I view it more from a standpoint that "this is my mission." And he accomplished exactly what he was supposed to. I mean think about, we are still talking about it to this day.

IMO Jesus did care. He still does.

2 No? Don't underestimate the power of greed.

Jesus died to redeem mankind, COI, not just the Christians. But that's from the Neo-Christian/Wiccan POV. *shrugs*

I know that Christians say that he died for all mankind's sins. But in Judaism we don't need anyone to die for our sins. We can go to God ourselves and repent tongue.gif

I guess being brutally tortured for your sinful ways isn't considered "caring" by today's standards....Oh days of Noah here we come.

True Christians believe that Christ was God in man-form just as predicted in the OT. So technically Christians go to God to repent by accepting Christ just as you say Jews do, since we believe he was God in the form of man. If God came down in any other form our human eyes couldnt withstand his beauty and we'd crumble, he HAD to come down as a man.

No such prediction exists in the OT.

He didn't have to do anything. We pray to him, and with that prayer repent, and thus are saved. Jesus isn't necessary for the atonement of sins. Also, some Christian practices are abhorent to God (ie drinking blood (in communion), and eating flesh (also communion).)

So says Christians, but I don't need his sacrifice to be honest, and neither does humanity.

If someone punches you in the gob...you don't stand there and just take it...you pop them one back...why be the only one to suffer??

I once had an aunt like you Becky's Mum. She even used to beat her husband up, sometimes by dragging doors of their hinges and beating him on the head with them.

Meaning if God came down to us with the form of a giant spider or 8 eyed monster with large sharp teeth we would respond in a bad way I doubt we would crumble but try and blow him to smithreens. So God chooses to come on down in Human form which people wont really be threatend by so he can woo the masses. Wolf in sheeps clothing.

And I guess being brutally tortured for not believing in Jesus IS considered caring? You seem to play the christians are good and non-christians are bad game, typical though because I used to be the same way. Hard to even say that Jesus actually existed, but I'd have to say if Jesus did exist he did care, for people who followed him, but he did shun the pharisees in according to the bible. Also called them fools, which he taught his disciples that if any of them called someone a fool they would be in danger of hell fire hmm.gif
