Define what happened at Silent Hill. I don't play video games.

You mean an undgerground coal fire burning and killing everybody in town and having an evil controlling woman summon a girl in a hospital bed covered in third degree burns and destroy everyone with barbed wire?

Nah.

Never was a place.

Sure it's a real place. It's located in Pennsylvania and I have been there. It's true that there is a coal fire burning under the town and the town has been abandoned. It's kind of creepy, but as far as I knw, no one has died in the fires.

Centralia

Yeah that's on the list I posted. It's a ghost town now, or so it says.

I'm gonna move to a ghost town someday ... Guarnteed you'd see something strange.

There's a Centralia, Missouri, too, and if it's not haunted it certainly ought to be. It was the site of the Centralia Massacre during the American Civil War. A group of Quantrell's guerrillas stopped a train carrying Union soldiers and killed all but a single officer, who had bravely stepped forward expecting to be shot when they asked if there were any officers present. They tied him up and left him in a room in the town. Then they rode off. A little later they met up with a small Union contingent that engaged them in spite of being poorly armed and outnumbered. The guerrillas killed them all, even mutilating and scalping some of the bodies.

I'd never heard of the Centralia that has a coal mine on fire below it, though I know such fires can burn for years. I know that some names are considered unlucky for ships (I think "Intrepid" is, for one -- I've heard of the aircraft carrier being referred to as the "Evil I"). Do you suppose that some names are lucky or unlucky for towns too?

I had played Silent Hill and it was quite a scary game and had watched the movie too, but never knew that there was a centralia !!!

Well i have heard of that sitauation about mines and brning, it may be true...i also know that some people burn there, and the strangest thing is that from town there's left only 8 houses and theese alert systems are left, and they were not destroyed by cleaners...from novadays it's a toxical wasteland with 8 people population...

I know that Ashfield or Ashland is also connected with it...it nearest town to Centralia, one mountain (small one) seperates them.

I love Centralia! It's one of my favorite abandoned places! <333

But I truely feel sorry for the people who once lived there. And was forced to move out due to the fire.

I was searching for stuff on the place. And I came across a link that said that it was haunted! Click

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia%2C_Pennsylvania

Its population has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to 12 in 2005, and 9 in 2007 , as a result of a 45-year-old mine fire burning beneath the borough.

ive been to Centralia a buncha times! it's surely not haunted. Infact, people still live there...it's only three or four houses. VERY creepy, but not haunted at all...OH! and the silent hill movie's silent hill was based on Centralia.

Also, those photos posted earlier, im pretty sure the cemetery isn't in Centralia, unless i missed it OR more likely, its not there anymore, but im almost sure it's not in Centralia...

once again NOT haunted, just extreamly creepy...

but i do wish it was haunted, that would be so cool...
