Will this is a little town I would like to tell you about , its not rely a ghost town seeing how people still live there (my brother lives there acutally), but the town is so haunted and has so many stories about it I just call it a ghost town. The towns name is Elliston its in Canada Newfoundland, its only like a 10 min drive from my town.

Will let me tell you of some of the stories you can hear about this place. One is called the Thunder Roawr, it happen a long time ago (wouldent be able to tell you the date exactly but its probley around the early 90's). It's been said that there was a roawr that lasted for 1 full night and day and it was so loud all of the town could hear it. People could not explaine what the roawr was, it was almost like a very loud and mad bear, but lasted so long it couldent of been one. I know the story is hard to believe but when you go around asking all the old people of the town and they all say the same thing, that there dads and moms heard it when they were just little kids. It kinda hard not to believe it.

Another one is there use to be an American Base in this town around the WWII, if you go up there today you can still find some of the stuff they left behind (they buried alot of it underground) But it is said the Americans left because they always saw strange siteings up there, and after awhile they couldent take it anymore so they just packed it up and left. (Now I don't know if thats the reason why they left but thats what people are saying, so thats what I am telling you).

Will thats only a few of the stories for now i'll give you a few more when I have time.

Well I'm from St. John's ... how far away is it?

I was out on the point of St. John's last night looking at an old army base, all in ruins and stuff. Pretty creepy. I'm from NF and I've never even heard of this place ... you gotta tell me where it is.

Same with where I'm originally from. The US had a base there and there is this hospital that built into a moutain. Well there are stories of tests and such being done. And the only way in are these 2 HUGE doors that have 5 foot high and wide rocks sitting in front of them ... so there's no way in. But I'm sure there's weird things went on there. Probably the same thing up your way Believe it. Or nothing happened. I'd put my money on both of thoes tongue.gif.

We've had Agent Orange and everything exposed in the harbour for years. There was a report of a soldier who sued the US govt. because he was a guard on the base guarding who knows what. But after he retired he was diagnosed with a type of cancer that is extrememly rare and is caused by radioactivity, that was in a newspaper. So he was probably guarding some type of weapon. Who knows.

Maybe that's why there is so much Cancer in Newfoundland. Damn US Govt. LoL.

So Believe it .... where is Elliston?

Ya know, it wasn't just too long ago that I saw a program on TV about someplace on the New Foundland coast, where they tracked a submerged unidentfied object. It was supposedly a UFO that sank in a harbor, but then made its escape and the US Navy tracked it and lost it somehow. Does this incident seem familiar? ~Jackal

That was Shag Harbor.

It's regarded in high esteem by Ufologists as a genuine landing. It's supported by RCMP reports made on the night, and the dozens of witnesses who trawled the harbor looking for survivors (it was originally thought to be a plane crash).

There was also more evidence to come from the Canadian Department of Defence and the Department of Transportation who established the world's first UFO tracking station 10 miles from the Capital. Information which is freely available to the public.

The Base your referring to was a Navy Anti-USSR Submarine station that was the relay centre for a network of underwater listening devices. The UFO traveled underwater the 30 miles from Shag Harbor and was joined by a second UFO. Navy Vessels sat on the surface and dived on the craft for a week.

The last part of the story can't be proven, however the original landing is supported by photographic evidence, and the reports of local authorities.

It's an excellent story that I urge people to read up on thumbsup.gif

Only 1860 eh? My girlfriend owns 3 houses (passed down through the family) that were built in the 14 and 1500's! and she lives in them, guernsey people are very short and because my family are not guernsey Im 6' 2" tall, and all guernsey houses have doorways that are 5' high! so whenever im there I have to duck to get through the doors!

Thanks Syntax..that is exactly the account I was trying to recall. You are well informed and covered it nicely. Only thing I could add is that some kind of strange yellow foam was recovered in the harbor where the original object went down. It was everywhere on the surface of the water. Of course, we will never be privy to the results of the testing performed on it. Thanks Syntax. ~Jackal

Thanks mate. I have a rather extensive UFO resource collection, including some difficult to find books. Although one has escaped me for years:

http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum...howtopic=100610

I prefer to draw a lot of my ideas from the 60's & 70's books, anything after Whitely Strieber's 'Communion' is unfortunately diluted with popular culture. It was during the mid part of last century that the real scientific research was being undertaken.
