I have read so many different version of this proposal that I know don’t how to feel. As a Californian and a democrat, I think proposal needs to be rewritten.
I don’t think it is fair to take a min. wage job away from a teenager and give it to someone else, we have more then enough unskilled workers already, I don’t think we should be adding to it. If we are really trying to help economy and straightening, we should be giving work visas' to skilled workers instead. Why add to our existing poor class that can barely support it self, who only deplete our resources further. If we import skilled worker, excluding office support, not only will strength our ties with other countries, but at the same times bringing more tax dollars, since they pay a higher tax rate. I know you are going to say, “Are you for taking jobs away from our citizens?” It’s complicated, my husband and I own company, It’s hard for me to hire people with little experience and put them on accounts , with skills I know are not adequate for my company or clients, so I’m constantly either short on employees, making up for their mistakes , loosing my clients and money! It is like our nation stopped seeking a higher education , and no those tech school do not teach you enough theory and lab time, they simply starch the surface. I do not have time for you hone your skills.

One other thing is we should give people who are already have jobs and are supporting themselves a chance, but they have to be able to proof they can and have held a job, and I’m not talking about a new job every six months!

I don't think anyone should misjudge President Bush's ideas here.

He is from Texas and therefore fully understands the problems much better
than most of the rest of the country.

The proposal has some between the lines thinking that you should consider.

We need to secure that Mexican Border! And don't think we are just hanging out
a 'ya'll come' invitation card. The idea is this:

Make the ones who are already here legal. Then clamp down on the boarders.
This will mean shooting anyone who crosses. Not arresting them and sending them back, but shooting them on sight.

Besides, the ones who are here have kids and those kids are citizens. And the Mexicans are not 'stealing' jobs. They are doing work that no one else will do for any amount of money. It is an issue that needs to be addressed and unlike some administrations ...this administration is going to take the hard issues head on!

Go Bush!!!

...and one final thought....

Bush is going to win in a landslide in November with or without the Hispanic vote.
So I really don't think he is doing this for votes. If anything it seems to be alienating the conservatives.

I agree with on the "stealing jobs", joc! I but think shooting them is going overbroad. i'm sure we can fight another way that's more effective then sending them back.

I heard that they changed the law about children of immgirant without a prement red. staus! anybody else heard this?

It's a good idea, and i don't thinks his doing for votes, unlike grey davis!

The law is, if you are born in the United States you are a citizen....period!
So what are we to do with families where the kids are citizens and the parents or parent is not?! dontgetit.gif

Forgive my negativity but your right, he doesn't need the hispanic vote, he can just cheat his way back in like he did the first time!

I am a republican who has agreed with Bush on everything - Except this!! I am baffled and dont understand this at all!!

Something has to be done with our borders DR. There is no way that more illegals could find their way over....it is already epidemic. Trust Bush. This is a guy who is like a cowboy. A straight shooter. Right from the hip. Bang, bang.
He isn't putting his finger in the air to see which way the votes are blowing.
