Does anyone else have reoccuring dreams? About once a year for the last 8-9 years i've had the same dream. The dream doesn't seem to have any relevence or meaning. (it's quite stupid. It's about an old burnt house with a creepy vampire dude living in the attic.) I can understand if I thought about vampires all day or something why I would dream about it, but believe me, I don't. So here's my question....

Does anyone know why we have reoccuring dreams? Does anyone believe that dreams have meanings? Whats your take on it...

At times I will have reoccurring dreams all revolving around high school and one certain person that I was friends with. At first I thought maybe I was just obsessed with him or something but later asked someone who was good at dream readings (I guess) and she told me that he was my soul mate. Really, I don't buy into all that but it's still creepy how much this person is in my head while I'm sleeping. Not to mention that I've been out of high school for quite some time now. I really wish I knew why I had this same dream. mellow.gif

I hope the creepy vampire dude wasn't your soul mate. laugh.gif

umm, I'm no expert, but burned house could mean something destroyed, or maybe destabilized, the vampire may symbolize your fears, or something that's in your head, you said he lives in the attic - well, it's not basement, so it's not that deep grin2.gif . I'm just making guesses - actually I think you are able to answer this question yourself, you sense what it means

LOL, I hope hes not my soulmate. How crappy would that be that my perfect match is a creepy, blood sucking, dead guy??? lol. Just my luck! lol

I don't have reoccurring dreams or nightmares for that matter (don't ask me why) But, I do see some people in my dreams that I have no idea who they are but I see them in allot of different dreams. They are always blurry, well for some odd reason I know for a fact they are perfectly clear until I wake up them I try to remember what they looked like and it's all blurry. I know they can't be anybody I know beacuse their proportions just don't match anyone, they are kids and for some reason I can specify gender, ones a girl and the other two are boys.

I know it's one thing to have a dream over and over but it's another when you dream about three different kids you don't even know over and over, oh and supossably in my dream they are always my friends.

I have never had a reocurring dream that I remember, but I have seen things in dreams that I am not famillier with and then a few weeks later, I will see what I saw in the dream. Its kind of wierd...

For a short time while I was living in a certain mobile home I had a dream about being strangled that recurred constantly. It would seem that I woke up but really it would just be the dream starting again. It'd play over and over many times in a single night and I'd have that dream two or three nights a month at least. Never had it before or after living there, just while I was in that one place. So, yeah, I guess I've had recurring dreams. I don't have any answers to your questions about them, though.

I will occasionally have a dream about a place or people or situation that feels familiar but isn't and I could swear that I had a dream back in the late eighties about something that actually happened in the late nineties (not something big, just something normal but involving people I didn't know when I had the dream).

Was it Nandor Fodor who wrote that if you keep a record of your dreams and try to figure out what influenced them you will evenually find that dreams are often influenced by things that haven't happened yet? Like you see an ugly dress and then dream you're wearing it, only you have the dream first and then see the dress. I tried that experiment at one time (writing down my dreams and trying to figure out what influenced them) and it was pretty freaky. It's something you can only decide about by trying it for yourself, though.

(Not to try to worry you about the possible future intrusion in your life of a vampire in an attic or anything. laugh.gif)

You know, it's weird but sometimes inside the dream I will think to myself "I've had this dream before". But when I wake up and think about it, I can't think of a time when I had that particular dream.... What do you call those tyopes of dreams?

I know what you mean bout reoccuring dreams.

Ive no longer have this dream but i always used to dream that i would be jumping building to building on buildings that were so high that i couldnt even see the floor it was just darkness. All i saw was the buildings i was jumping to everything is was black. I would be jumping normally as it were nothing and out of no where i would miss the building and fall straight down. i would never hit the floor because i would wake up from the shock.

i always used to have this dream...

I have dreams about the same desolate house too. No vampire, but the house is haunted and there is something extra spooky about the attic...which is weird because I never lived in a house with an attic.

Hi,

... the best information about dreams and the 'art of dreaming' I have ever come across is found in the Toltec Teachings...

... I am not speaking about the works of Carlos Castaneda here [although that is most interesting], I am speaking about the modernised expression of the Toltec Teachings by the nagal Théun Mares...

.. the entire 'dreaming' section from Théun Mares' book called 'Cry of the Eagle' can be read at:

http://www.signofjonah.org/build/lessons/t...theun_lucid.htm

... you will find a listing of ALL dream symbols, as that article progresses, if you are wondering what a certain symbol means in a dream...

And the main Toltec page that 'that' link came from is at:

http://www.signofjonah.org/build/lessons/t.../theun_main.htm

Happy dreaming

I too used to have a recurring dream .. Lasted about 8 months ..

It wasn't a scary dream or whatever .. but it DID have a vampire .. Or five in it.

A lot of people seem to have vampires in their dreams .. Maybe it means something ..

I often have a recurring dream about an amphitheaters in a grave yard friends and family come and we watch movies on a screen, i think dreams have some relivance.

At Christmas i have dreams of my father dying in a pool of ice near a toys-r-us and little ice sickles grow mouths and laugh at us.

I used to have this dream about fixing an old burnt house, and everybody near coming and helping, I fell of the roof in the dream and woke up in a wheel barrow.

Ive had lots of reoccuring dreams, nothing special to me, the plot in the dream is the same, the beginning is the same, but the outcome is always different just bcus im doing something different.

The worst thing with dreams is the reality of it, one of the reoccuring dreams ive had when i was younger took place at my former school. It was out at the courtyard, some misc things where spreaded out, there was a high wall going around the whole school and a big gate at a corner, it started by a sound like a timer ticking down, all my friends were there, we were supposed to hide, so we did, i went into a car, then the gate opens and two tyrannosaurus rexs gets out and start looking for us(who hided). And i always dies first, always, no matter where i tried to hide did i never make it alive.

The scariest thing thought is the feeling of the big jaws closening in at my body, i dont know this but i could probly tell the feeling when a tyranno bites on your body, how it would feel in reality , bcus it felt so damn real everytime, like the brain already know how it would feel.

Thats a wierd thing :S
