I've been living in my apartment for 11 months now. Nice place with all the amenities and shopping areas around...and maybe somethings I don't know about. I moved in in February '03 and was in and out of the place due to prparations for deployment to Iraq, so that may be why my first experience trook so long to happen. Anyway, my roomate was gone for two weeks in another state (this is August by the way) and I had the place to myself for the first time. No biggy, I stilll had to work. One night I woke to the feeling of someone standing to the foot of my bed and to the right. That would put them right in front of my bedroom door and my first instinct was that it was my roomate...but he's gone. I didn't feel any threat or worries but still hesitant to believe it was an intruder I started swinging as if to ward off a prank of some sort. My arms were flailing and I'm looking into the pitch black expecting something to happen when suddenly my arms froze. No pressure, no pain...nothing. They just wouldn't move. WWith my limbs suspended in front of my face I can feel the...shadow? coming towards me. I couldn't see it physically, but there was an image in my mind of a dark human shape moving towards my bed. I lie there as it proceded to crawl up to me and place its face in front of mine and lean in as if to kiss my neck...I felt something brush across and then I could move again and it was gone. I searched the house and found nothing...until I looked in the mirror and saw a small line across my neck where the thing had kissed/bit me. A few months ( November) later I was once again asleep in bed when I awoke to someone stradling me from behind, but as soon as I moved it scampered off the end of the bed and dissapeared. Once again I searched thinking this tiome it was my roomates new cat. Nope. Now it makes noises. 3 nights ago I woke to the sound of someone pacing back and forth on the left side of my bed. I looked over saw nothing and chalked it up to be my brother and roomate playing vidioe games in the living room so I went back to sleep. Again I woke upo that night to the same sound, and this time I had the distinct feeling thatt there was a large person walking back and forth, their pant legs rubbing against each other. I listened for the game but apparently they'd already retired for the night and I was left to realize my shadow monster had returned. I tried to sleep past it but couldn't. After about 5 minutes I said in a loud voice, "STOP IT!!" It stopped. I've never once felt any threat or fear from this entity, though the last time did kinda creep me out. The no fear part is actually what scares me most. Anybody ever had to deal with something like this? My lease runs out soon, but I kinda wanna find out what it is.

You might have a ghost, but a friendly spirit. I have had no such experiences like you have, but years back my mother told me of an experience she had. She was sleeping and all of a sudden she would feel her bed sheets being tucked in as if some one was physically doing it. But soon after she remodelled her bedroom, the spirit mysteriously disappeared. Nothing like that has ever happened again. It must not have liked the way my mother remodeled her bedroom. laugh.gif

Sounds like one of two things. Either that you have been suffering a form of ASP which is awareness during sleep paralysis, here is a link:

Or that you have a spirit in your apartment. If so then maybe the reason you are not fearful is because you are quite possibly tuned in to this without even being aware that you are and so it does not come as a shock to you. Hope I am making sense, I am shattered have been up all night.
I have seen spirits all my life and so it never comes as a shock to me when one passes by and says hello. Even as a small child I was never frightened by all of this.
You have done the right thing in asking it to leave you alone, it shows that you are in control and not fearful which is a good thing. There is nothing to be scared of anyway.

Hummm... Y dont you try asking your room mate about it? Maybe Before you both moved in someone died in the house/flat, what ever. And it thinks your sleeping in its bed?
Anyway i once read in a book, that around the 17th-18th centry there was lots of incidents where a shadowed demon looking creature would paralise the sleeping and sit on the persons cheast as it was only the size of a v.fat cat and stare close at its face for long hours through the night. Yet it never harmed or touched the person, and never gave off a sense of fear....sounds kinda familiar dont you think? Sounds stupid up if you incouter it again try talking to it. thumbsup.gif

I get similar feelings of being wide awake, yet totally paralysed. I don't get a shadowy figure in my room but when this happens I am s**t scared of the mirror in my room(no wisecracks please, i am a beautiful person). It's a Semi state of sleep paralysis (caught on the cusp between awake and asleep) where the brain manufactures it's own paralysis drug to stop you acting out your dreams! I'd probably go along with lottie specially as i believe ghosts and spirits are a load of old (laughable) bunkum.

Thanks for write up lottie. I've seen and heard things my whole life as well, but usually they scare the crap outa me. That's why my not being afraid was the biggest shock. Revengeful_Angel...you scare the crap outa me now. I can deal with it being a nice spirit or just someone passing through or something...but a demon? crying.gif I don't like that at all. Jimma, the mirror thing used to be a big factor for me also, but once again I feel no fear when facing it. In fact I have a huge mirror facing me at the foot of my bed. When I was a kid I remember two separate occasions when I saw a shadowy figure lean out of my parents bedroom at night while everyone was in the living room with me. I had the distinct feeling it was my great grandpa...maybe it's the same person. My whole family on my mothers side has had these experiences. My mom grew up on a 100+ year old farm in Stockton CA. Even my father saw that one. She called his name while he was napping and when he looked he saw a girl in an old 1800's dress standing on the stairs looking back at him...he went back to sleep. Once again thanks for the advice and help. I'll keep you all posted if anything else happens.

Interesting that you've experienced the mirror thing as well. It's as if I KNOW that there is going to be something in the reflection behind me. Even when not paralysed, if i wake up in the night (water/toilet etc) Something WILL NOT let me look in the mirror, it's not as if i'm scared to, i just can't do it. Being a healthy 'Paranormally Skeptic' person, I cant get my head round this. Yeah keep us informed mate.

I spose that means i am scared to look. Don't wanna contradict myself
